This ain't Texas. Did you know that rodeo exists in the Philippines? When I discovered that Masbate hosted the only rodeo in Asia, I had to experience it firsthand. I grew up going to rodeos in America but I hadn't been to one in a long time. The Rodeo National Finals in Masbate brought cowboys and cowgirls from places all over the country, such as, Bukidnon, Pangasinan, Bicol and more. They also turn the rodeo into a festival. Come watch the bull riding, steer wrestling, street line dancing, and other rodeo events with me.

@@DaveOnArrival If you wanna experience the rowdiest Rodeo of Mindanao, go to Central Mindanao University during the 3rd Sunday of September (or close to that date). It's the feast of Senior San Isidro, the Patron Saint of Musuan. We do rodeo over there.
Cagayan de Oro City too. Xavier University has their own rodeo club under the College of Agriculture.
In catabduanes in rapu-rapu, albay, in Manito, albay , in mainalabac, camarines sur too. They alll have rodeo festivals.

Masbate is "not" the only rodeo in philippines.
It is however, likely the largest and best known.
Bukidnon area has many, I'm sure other areas have them also. I'll be attending, what I am told, is rather large one in Bukidnon area
September 8 and 9 , I believe. Thank you to Kenneth Ramunal (5 time all around champion and Rodeo King) and team Cowboy's Camp for the invite. Also thank you to Masbate Rodeo Finals for allowing me to participate in 2024 finals. It was an honor beyond comparison.
Again great video, Masbate Rodeo Finals is a great time the entire city and island are fantastic, hope to return next year as competitor if allowed.
Oh, I didn't see any of the ones in Bukidnon online.
Masbate started it all and other places in the Philippines just made their own rodeo festival. Rodeo festival is a good idea because the Philippines is an agricultural nation.
@@DaveOnArrivalthere are actually, bukidnon is huge . It is even bigger than CDO. The caption on the rodeo video does not say Bukidnon because that would be very vague. Besides, for some this is considered animal cruelty that' s why there's not much coverage.

Been going to Masbate since my mom was born there but never got to experience the Rodeo Festival which sucks. I'm glad you got to experience it since Masbate's arena is the largest and the most extravagant rodeo festival here in the Philippines. They pride themselves as the Rodeo Capital of the Philippines.

Hi! Can I ask, when is the rodeo in Masbate? That looks so much fun! I remember growing up attending a rodeo every year in the vet school my grandma teached at. Everything from roping calves and bull riding to horse riding. I want to bring my kid to experience the cowboy culture.

WOW! Had no idea they started doing rodeo in Philippines!! The rodeo is originally from Mexico and Mexican tradition/culture its amazing to see how its spread all across the world!!! Looks like they really enjoy it!! Congrats on the first rodeo in Asia!!!

Well, We here in the Philippines were colonized by the Spaniards, It was ruled through the Viceroyalty of New Spain Which is now a modern day Mexico. so yeah some of its culture spread here in the Philippines.
@@user-xn4wh5pm4r Yea the rodeo is Mexico's national sport its even UNESCO heritage protected. The "Charro" is the original rodeo horseman where all things rodeo originate from (lasso,chaps etc..)he even wears a different outfit compared to the Vaquero aka Cowboy.
@@schizo4932 I read that the rodeo didn't come through colonization from New Spain/Mexico but that its much more recent it was introduced to the Philippines in the 1990's to revitalize the country cattle industry. But it doesn't really matter its still nice that that other countries have embraced a big Mexican art form and enriching their culture.

My husband's boss' family is a rodeo freak. So much so that one of his sons has a rodeo scholarship in one of the universities here in Kansas. We are retiring to the Philippines in 2 weeks and once we get settled we plan to visit Masbate as we would like to invite my husband's boss to come visit the Philippines. Nice video Bro.. You made me reminisce my childhood. During piyesta we would go to the rodeo and perya/carnival just beside the rodeo and during sundays or free days u could go there for a run or just a play of tag ur it within the open space. The primary sch. where I went to was just a few blocks away.. Good memories.. thank you

Wow I love this, I didn't k ow that there's Rodeo ther in Phil..and everyone there in Masbate seems yhey love this sports... I have watched this in Calgary Canada last year and it's more fun in there I guess.. Every year here in Calgary duting summer here there's a Rodeo and some parts of western countries are coming here to compete... Ohh, yeah Stampede I'm sure is really fun to go to in Calgary. Since the events and breed of cows here at the Philippines rodeo are different than the Americas, they may not want to join. But it would be awesome if a bull rider from PH competed in Calgary.
@@DaveOnArrival ohh yeah Calgary Stampede , this is an annual Rodeo, exhibition and festival held every month of July... 10 days and will start on July 5- 14 I guess.. lots of festivals here in Alberta every summer... But still more fun in the Phil..amd too many places to go there.. here are just the Rocky mountains and lake .. So you wanna come here .. Stampede is really popular outdoor sports and festival... haha
