    I'm looking into the 12 day astronomy cruise with Hurtigruten in Oct of 2019.
    Is this the same cruise and what time of year did you go on your trip?
    I'm from California, what cold weather clothing items would you recommend? Perhaps items that you wish you had taken, but forgot or didn't think about.
    ****Okay, I read several comments and your replies. I see that you went in January.
    I spoke with Artjom, from Hurtigruten. He told me that they guarantee I will see the Northern Lights, because the cruise is planned during the new moon and if I don't see the Northern Lights, they will give a free 6 day cruise.

    What kind of once-in-a-lifetime accommodations would you prefer? Would you rather overnight in an ice hotel or spend the night in a castle?

    Hi Joan, what month did you go ? I am interested but a bit concern that may not see the northern lights. Many thanks

      I went in January/February. It's supposed to be a good time to see the lights, but it's all dependent on weather.

    I have heard the iPhone does not work when it gets too cold in the Snow Hotel or anywhere else. Is this true? What camera do you suggest instead?

    • @JoanJetsetter
      @JoanJetsetter  7 лет назад +1

      I brought a GoPro Session on the Kirkenes Snowhotel dogsledding excursion, and it died pretty quickly. I blame it on the wind and leaving it exposed to the cold for too long. I didn't have much trouble with my iphone though because I kept it close to my body. My advice to you would be to keep a few disposable glove warmers in your pocket where you will keep your phone. Only take it out in the elements when you need to use it.

      You'll have a blast. You're staying at the Snowhotel, right? Did you see my survival guide? ruclips.net/video/XxC2mGLZ0vI/видео.html I highly recommend doing the King crab excursion if you like fresh seafood. One of the best meals I've had in my life!

      Yes, I'l be staying there one night, and before that I'l be at Oslo and Tromso. Oh, do we have to catch the crabs ourselves?

    • @JoanJetsetter
      @JoanJetsetter  7 лет назад

      Not really. You can sit back and observe. You take a snowmobile ride out to a frozen fjord, and they pull crab traps out of a hole in the ice. Here's what my experience was like: ruclips.net/video/s-R5Df69nBs/видео.html If you go, say "hi" to Lori for me.
