It's a shame that you have to be so accurate with the measurements etc, our personal care assistants are to nervous to run these tests for us

What do the colours at the end indicate?

The final processed liquid has fluorescent dyes that bind to specific DNA sequences (oversimplified); the different colors make the different dyes fluoresce, and the detectors at the bottom measure how much they fluoresced. If they see a strong signal, the DNA of interest is present. That's how it detects various diseases. Sometimes, even for the same disease, one needs to check multiple DNA sequences (genes).
I think it's really beautiful. So many moving parts! So hard to develop! They worked really hard, and I really like the people who built it... but moving parts are so last gen (and expensive as heck). I'm working on something that might replace this, for some diseases at least :)
No moving parts, fewer things that can fail; here's hoping that I can do a good job.

TAT time is too long, early call out requires one to name the assay to call out, then it cannot be reported until the test is complete. Noisy as well.
