  • Ever wonder how you get busted sitting perfectly still in a ground blind? It might be how you are dressed! Staying concealed in a ground blind is much different than that in a tree stand. Check out Raised Hunting's David Holder as he discusses the perfect concealment clothes for ground blind hunting.

I am going to bow hunt from a ground blind (instead of a tree stand) next year for the first time and I am so stoked about it! I am going to be comfortable, warm and invisible. I am getting older now and I am sick and tired of freezing my fuckin ass off up in a dangerous tree-stand taking downward shots and doing without anything and everything that I might have forgot to take with me.
I like getting in the woods early , perhaps too early sometimes so this way I can take a nap and get good & rested before its time to stand still for God knows how long. I have stopped hunting on shooting-gallery land and strictly hunt on wild land now. I hope this will be more challenging as I am sure to make some newbie mistakes.

good video, absolutely no substitute for all black in the blind , I had a mature tom actually brush against the side of the blind this spring and walk around the side, I could see the thin membrane over his eyes when he blinked he never saw me I was totally blacked out shot him @ 8 steps from the blind!

Go to a farm store, buy rolls of black colored vet wrap and wrap your gun barrels, bow limbs, and riser . You will be invisible. Vet wrap only sticks to itself. Hospitals use something similar. Its called Coban, but costs $$$, vet wrap is about $3 a roll and comes in numerous colors, even camo.

If you were hunting with a rifle, would you recommend taking a shooting stick and a rear shooting bag?

Too bad you have to wear blaze orange to hunt in Florida and many other states. Also, you need some orange on the outside of that thing if you're going to be on public land. Don't want some yahoo getting a double lung shot on you because he saw something move. Bow season is different, but general gun, you have to have the blaze to be out hunting.

Wearing all black is a common fallacy.
IF ... your using the blind correctly you can wear fluorescent orange inside and still kill stuff.
Matter of fact in PA we are required to wear 250 sq. In. while inside the blind or out at ALL times.
In addition you must display an additional 100 sq. in. of orange, visible 360° within 15 feet of the blind as well.
Dont open your windows so wide just because that how marketing displays the photo on the packaging.

Maybe so we have worn about everything, it definitely seems as though we get away with a lot more when wearing black. For bowhunters its tough to keep the windows to far closed. When animals get close opening windows to shoot can be nearly impossible. For gun that could make sense for sure.

You definitely get away with more wearing black. Idk about for turkey but deer definitely pick you out inside the blind. Turkey see it and don’t think nothing of it lol

    Deer don’t care about Color

Its not the color we are concerned about, we want to blend in to our environment.

It’s the movement. When dressed in all black you can actually move without the fear of being busted as easily.
