    For the spark plugs what I mentioned in the video was actually incorrect, what they actually do is prevent the engine from trying to protect itself from a lean condition.
    Having the smaller gap allows the car to register IONs better so it doesn't pull power. It's just an easier & cheaper trick than trying to change out the coils. The coils increase in resistance over time so it's harder for current to flow through.
    For the torque 2.0 vs 2.5 it's really minute and in the low RPM's like 2500 and below, past that the 2.0 feels incredibly strong and pulls hard! It's honestly barely noticeable it's just from driving both cars back to back you can tell just a little something.

  • @Soul_Popper
    @Soul_Popper 8 месяцев назад +2

    Some things I’ve gained some very noticeable differences and power from in my 13 Mazda hb with the 2.0 skyactive kinda a long post but it’s worth the read.
    New coils & ruthenium spark plugs stock code (I’ll try gtr rutheniums if they have them next for sure) Overall gas mileage increase and throttle response. Almost felt like I got a lightened flywheel. A little smoother as well.
    Big Ground mods , most important is a ground from throttle body area (throttle sensor)to battery. helped so much with cars responsiveness and keeping more consistent voltage. Probably less then 10 bucks to do, arguably best bang for buck mod on the car especially if u have a audio system etc.
    Crc intake valve cleaner, cleans carbon deposit highly recommend for these direct injection engines. Gotta do some oil changes after though cause it adds carbon and gunk into your oil.
    fuel treatment like royal purple or bg44k something with PEA. It’ll clean injectors. Just add in a low tank and fill up tank
    A engine flush treatment I went with motor flush. Gotta do multiple oil changes to be sure you get all the stuff out (use good filters fram full synthetic filters are best for the price about 7 bucks they catch the most material for the price.) but after doing the Crc and motor flush and fuel treatment, car pulls super hard and it’s a night and day difference. Gained mpg , torque and top end.
    One mod I did that lost me power and fuel economy believe it or not was actually straight piping (2.25 inch) the car from headers back but the car was open right after headers before the straight pipe for a long time since I’m busy and the shop I wanted to do the work was always booked .
    So I went to more restriction rather than less and lost mpg and performance car starts like choking out after 3 k rpm I’d figure I’d mention it seems these cars like and need a good free flowing exhaust like the Honda k series do. Which makes sense since these engines are pretty much factory built n/a engines. High compression, factory headers ,light and balanced parts etc.
    Actually why I’m here my exhaust guy told me I should look into getting it tuned. Rather then redoing the pipe. I might try and message that tuner and see what he thinks about the exhaust flow on these cars. To me it still looks like it struggles past 3k rpm even with the tune quite a bit. With an open header at least once the car hit like 3500 rpm it pulled really hard it’s when it like woke up similar to the before and after of your tune but in reverse order for me lol but after the exhaust, feels like after 3500 rpm car dies and power band flatlines like how you mentioned in the video . Like before when car was open header, I had low end torque but the top end is where the cars power was all made and with it being so restricted now it feels like I get a shot of torque and power up to 3 k then car has none after 3k. Just feels flat. Rpm’s don’t climb as fast as before.
    I’ll be doing the mounts for wheel hop and all the supporting mods and tune like you did in the video soon but definitely want to get more info on the exhaust before I continue.

    • @DrivingProduction
      @DrivingProduction  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for sharing you experience with you car so far! That's some great information! I've gotten similar results from the things I've done in what you mentioned. For the exhaust Justin from the Sauce Tune does recommend 2.25 as the ideal exhaust size for the 2.0 N/A, think he does mention to keep a resonator and muffler for maximum performance but you'd have to check with him to confirm. 👍

    • @Soul_Popper
      @Soul_Popper 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@DrivingProduction Yeah I ended up doing some research and found that size pipe is ideal for velocity etc. The car feels a lot better now after some ecu relearning but my fuel economy is still down after the 2.25 pipe surprisingly.
      When I was digging I came across some interesting stuff these cars need the factory air box design to perform at its best. Since the car has two engine cycles. The factory air box has like this dead end tubing that prevents the air pushing out the intake while allowing air to still flow into your engine. At like 4 k rpm engine switchs engines cycles and runs more like a diesel than a traditional 4 stroke cycle causes like a forced induction effect in intake essentially if I’m remembering correct. If you boost it (turbo or supercharger) then you don’t have to worry about it but if ur n/a u can starve your engine of air and I think even cause detonation if I remember right.
      For the headers Ive been looking into hot pipes/ speed labs headers. They actually took into account the skyactiv engine for the design and it’s supposedly ideal scavenging which is big with our valves being small gets exhaust gas out fast, prevents knock etc they claim almost 10 hp with no retune and more with a tune.

      Mazdaspeeds are cool, but can be a bit finicky. I got a 04 sedan for free off of a family friend, and honestly really like the car. Did a 2.5 swap, and after hearing about this engines potential, currently floating the idea of doing a speed3 trans swap to support some serious power and building another 2.5 on the side to reliably hold high power. The tight stock ring gap on 2.5s often leads to piston failure around 350-400whp on a stock internal 2.5. all tune dependent of course. Definitely a lot more time and work and you need the tools and mechanical experience. But the 2.5 MZR is a beast in disguise.

      When I upgraded my TB I didn't see a difference in fuel economy, the car feels like it pulls a bit more towards the top end but you might loose a bit on the lower end. Now since you have the detuned version with 120hp I'm not sure what the response will be. I did this with the 155hp version before I got it tuned. The best way to get the most out of your car is definitely getting a tune since you car bring it past the factory 165hp of other models. For the cold start pretty much all modern cars have that and that's to warm up the catalytic converters, it can be tuned out but you would have to be catless. Hope this helps!

    Amazing video, amazing car, i am looking forward before getting a tune, maybe getting Lightweight rims and after that getting the sauce hahahaa
    So for a stock tune, u would see an upgrade with the sparkplugs of the gtr and the fuel pump of the 3 turbo
    i have a 2.0 skyg 2020

      That's awesome! Glad you liked the video! Keep up the mods the 4th gens look so good! Yes you'll see a difference even without a tune, even Justin recommends doing these mods before getting a tune. 👍

    I have a 2021 skyactiv G 2.0 automatic 150 horse power. Would this tune + spark plugs also work and if so what gains should I get? I would love for it to Rev to 7k+ the automatic shifts at 6.5k now.

    • @DrivingProduction
      @DrivingProduction  10 месяцев назад

      Yes 100% you would see some really nice gains from it and you could definitely up the redline to 7k. End power figures depends greatly on your mods you also have on top of the tune, so I would contact the tuner for more information.

      @@DrivingProduction thanks for your reply. But what increase in HP should i expect if i only do the plugs + the tune? i would really like to keep te rest stock. Also i live in the Netherlands and for some reason my 150 version only goes up to 165 according to tuners as the previous 165 version would go to 180? i thought all these engines where the same hardware wise?

      I haven't dynoed the car yet but it feels in the range of a stock-ish k20 civic si, I would say around the 180-185 at the crank, maybe 150-155whp. But that's me guessing from what the car feels like

    The problem with all the new vehicles and this applies to everything from 4 cylinders right on up to v8s, is there's no low-end torque from 0 to 10 mph. The launch is sluggish and cars these days can't even chirp the tires.
