    I had oyakodon in Seoul (S. Korea) in Japanese restaurant, it was out of this world. The egg was runny and I'm very skeptical of uncooked eggs, but after a first spoon I couldn't stop.
    I tried to make it myself a couple of times, edible but not even close. The only way to have the best oyakodon in your life is to have it prepared by a trained professional. Can't wait for restrictions to be lifted so I can go back to Japan.

    I made this yesterday for the first time and it was awesome, but since I can't find dashi powder anywhere in the area (I live in Texas) I just bought katsuobushi and kombu I found at a nearby Filipino Market that has a few Japanese products and made it from scratch. I have since dried the used katsuobushi back out since I read it can be made into furikake. You think I should add some nori to the used kastsuobushi though for furikake? And what would be good to do with the kombu after it has been used for making the dashi stock?

      If you don't find dashi, you can make your own. Please search for dashi on your channel. If you can't find the ingredients for the dashi, you can simply omit it. It will taste just a little different, but still good I think.

    • @Hunlover123601
      @Hunlover123601 6 лет назад

      dashi can in tasty food emergencies be substitited with some chicken broth, it will also taste amazing, different, but amazing! and the mirin is basically sweet rice wine, recreate some of the sweetness with a bit of sugar, and some of the punch with some regular rice wine, it wont taste exactly the same, but #VERYTASTY

    • @TabiEats
      @TabiEats  8 лет назад +1

      Octopus salad with ginger is very easy to make. First cut your octopus into bite-sized pieces. We usually like some sliced onions, chopped green onions and some wakame seaweed. For the dressing, we combine some ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar and sesame oil. That's it. Hope this helps.
