    I'd rather hear about that custom guitar- what a beauty! I'd imagine you have to wear a sports jacket to play that guitar at least, and I'm a bit surprised it's not a black tie affair.

    I just bought one! Loving it so far. Needs a channel switch, for sure.

    I've got the old version. Picked it up from a guy who had it in his closet for years, tubes still not broke in probably. LOL This and my Fender Blues Jr. NOS Tweed version are great amps.

    Great review and demo of the amp! 😃

    I checked with Peavey and they said the new Classic 30 has the same amount of gain as it always has. The voicing has not changed. Sure sounds great in this video!

    That's great cause they NAILED the OD/lead channel from the get go... This is one of the few amps that I fee totally comfortable going straight into to get my OD tones (makes it SO great for taking to blues jams where I don't want to haul my pedal board around). My 72 Tele Deluxe RI through my C50-212 is just heavenly!!!!!!!!

    They don't make them in USA anymore.
    I purchased mine in 2014, I believe that was the last year they made the USA, it's really a great amp for what I paid.

    You are correct. The boost (bump) CANNOT be activated from the footswitch in the "older" C30, unless it is modified.

  • @norwester7018
    @norwester7018 11 лет назад

    Truly an AWESOME amp and simply unbeatable in the dollars to performance assessment (a few other can match it, but I've never heard anything that's this cost effective that beats it IMO). I have a "1st gen" Classic 50-212 (one of the older models without the upper "belt buckle logo" which cosmetically I prefer). I'm very jealous of the switchable boot function of these new versions though aye. Built like tanks, quality components and an OD channel that almost makes OD pedals unnecessary...

    Peavey Classic 30: Dependable Workhorse Amp!

  • @1970borntorun

    Will this do a nice Robben Ford type of Blues/Jazz thing when the gain is cracked, or should I get a Fender? This seems to not QUITE have that warm, round, bell-tone like a Fender. Not a criticism of the Peavey, just an observation :)

  • @musicguy9299
    @musicguy9299 6 лет назад +2

    After owning everything, peavey tube amps are a fantastic deal. You can use as is, replace speakers, etc. Love the Fender and "Boutique"stuff but, to each his own. A lot of "Hit" records were just Fender and Peavey, not Boutique amps. Sorry for the opinion (long) but, just my..02%

    On my Peavey Classic 50, I use the lead channel with the 'Pre' down at 50% and kick on a TS9 tube screamer and it's goddamn $$$

    I just wish my "1st gen" C50-212 HAD a boost functin but thankfully it does have the truly great master volume arrangement so I'll live but I'd really like to have a boost function (and maybe the Trem from the Delta Blues... THAT would be a truly "perfect" amp IMO).

    After all these years, I wish Peavey would add an attenuation circuit to the Classic to bring things down to a manageable level for apartment playing. 30-10-1 or something similar. Would love to goose the volume on this and not rattle the windows. Yes, of course buying a separate attenuator is an option but it would be nice to gift wrap this bad boy with one. Sure, the VK II has it, but it's also not made in the USA and believe me, the difference in build quality is there.

      Just get a THD Hotplate or a Marshall Powerbrake if they still make them! :)

    • @wayneharrod9363
      @wayneharrod9363 6 лет назад

      You can also use a volume pedal in the effects loop to control volume .

    • @lorenzo6mm
      @lorenzo6mm 4 года назад

      I believe the Peavey Classic 20 Head
      has 20, 5 and 1 Watt attenuation switch in back.
      Two of them in stereo would yield 40 Watts most excellent.

      Use your guitar pots, Amazing

    • @Maxx61
      @Maxx61 Год назад

      @@jonasperes7998 It's adorable that you think you're going to get the same result when you lower your guitar's volume as opposed to attenuating an amps power. Lower your guitars volume and the gain lowers with it. The goal of attenuation... in my case... is to retain as much tone as practical with no loss of gain which definitely follows rotation of the volume knob. As it turned out, Peavey eventually did exactly as I suggested when they started shipping Classic heads with a one watt option.

    Made in USA? Great! I noticed that the Fenders at this price point are now made in Mexico.

  • @jamespaul8488
    @jamespaul8488 11 лет назад

    IIRC the C30 boost just removes part of the tone stack circuit from the signal path. If you really wanted it, it could probably be duped on a C50. For part 2 I was going to suggest your favorite Tremolo pedal in the effects loop, but a 1st gen C50 didn't have an effects loop - did it. You can also correct that. There is a kit available from Peavey, if you want to add it. :)

    Mitch, what exactly changed with the Classic 30? Great amp which ever version you own.

  • @tmlplus

    I hate the 'working man's amp' label, as it cheapens the value of the sound. The PC sounds better than any of the lower-end Fender amps like 'Hot Rod' deluxe or 'Blues Deluxe' stuff. I think it sounds as good as any of the Fender Deluxe amps made in the last 30 years. Honestly, the lead channel of the PC sounds more like a Marshall than any of Fender's 'lead channel' amps.

    Love my Classic 30. And Blue Marvel and most other Peavey speakers are woefully underrated. And I think my 30 sounds better than my Vox AC30 !

    Well.. I want to know if this is Chinese or Mexican. Seems these days, manufacturers are afraid to disclose the build location. I've always been a Peavey USA fan. I'm watching a few online now that I've foolishly sold my Black Tweed C30...

  • @tmlplus

    Fender amps are about clean channel or vintage 1-channel amps where you get the heat from just cranking it. Outside of that, Fender amps are not versatile.

      I own two PC 50, and the lead channel is just awesome. To me, it beats both my Marshall JMP 2204 ( through 1960AX Greenbacks ) and DSL40C.

  • @gwugluud

    They made it hideously ugly with their new, gay "dip-down" Peavey logo. Other than that, it's the same EXCELLENT amp. Just if you get this new version, don't ever look directly at it, unless you really love to projectile vomit.
