I really hope this take on Underfell becomes a completed game. The music’s wonderful, the spritework is fantastic, and the bullet patterns actually strike the right balance of being cool/creative-looking and being fair. The mechanic of Flowey actively helping you in battle is also excellent, because him being Frisk’s friend instead of foe is one of my favorite things about this AU.
that and apprently this take on underfell, IS the canon one, aka very similar or basically what the original creator intended, probably why he called it canonfell, and to explain that ahem, canon underfell
the official version made by the original creator of the AU after them giving away the AU to the fandom, but years later coming back to work at the AU further.
People use this term to differentiate the version made by the Fandom due to people just knowing the main aspect of the AU, this being "Undertale but the monsters are evil"
Fanonfell: monsters are all jerks that hate eachother and everything, theres not a single bit of common sense in them, just evil. They dont care for their own related ones (Exemple being: Sans and Papyrus hating eachother), every line of them must be a arrogant one to anyone, killing is normal in there
Canonfell: Some monsters are indeed jerks, but some monsters are also pretty chilled out, and others are just really sad about everything going on, most of them DO have common sense and do love their related ones (Sans and Papyrus got their brotherly relationship, but when discussing with eachother when they dont agree with something, they do it passively), killing is NOT that normal, though Asgore do whatever he wants due to being a tyrant king
Canonfell is about the monsters losing hope on humanity and eventually on themselves, while Fanonfell is about monsters being evil since birth, though this concept was a lil better used on Negativetale

13:21 Alphys actually says "I've already.... a-already..." because she feels guilty about what she did in the true lab. She thinks it's too late to consider stopping because she's already hurt people. UT Alphys and UF Alphys are kinda opposites in this sense. After the true lab experiments UT Alphys tries her best to hide it while UF Alphys decides to own it and embraces becoming a mad scientist. Also Asgore would probably have her executed or whatever if she stops working for him lol

Can I just say, while MTT GAMMA is great, Alphys absolutely steals the show for me. I don't recall any other Alphys's fights other than Alphys NEO and Wavering spirit, so it's great to see another one that's also excellent.
Alphys is the best part of the fangame. This should have been the Alphys fight in canon Undertale.

An alphys fight would only work in pacifist, but her motives only work in geno run. It makes sense why theres no alphys genocide fight.

I’m so thrilled to see Alphys finally being represented as ROYAL SCIENTIST, who was hired specifically to make high tech anti-human weaponry. When she shows her confidence, composure and scientist’s rationality it’s genuinely giving me creeps.
Underfell is legit my favorite AU. Cool concept, awesome designs and I'm glad they made a quality fangame of it. hope Underfell demo will be finished too!
Edit: Also wanted to add that this fangame has some actual bangers, unique sounding themes, instead of just metal covers of OG ost.
38:40 The top left ending screen is pretty great. Even though they only had a few pixels to work with, you can see Flowey, Frisk, and Mettaton all up on stage, with the crowd in the background.
Ah yes the one undertale fan game with a pacifist ending where Merg chose to go kill mode for his first ending, cool video by the way
I really like this take on Underfell, it would be cool to see if any more bosses get made in this style

Thanks for going back to get the pacifist ending! It makes me glad to see that the fruits of our (difficulty balancing) labor are paying off. (I definitely did NOT tell Logan to make the fight harder this time, unlike Undershuffle Sans or A Different Snowgrave - if anything, I told him to make some attacks easier.)

Definitely is! It’s quite well known that Undertale takes a lot of inspiration from EB. This fangame is no different! In Alphys’ battle theme, you can hear Giygas’ breathing noises, as well as samples of the Cave of the Past theme (although those were already heavily used in the song Amalgam in the original UT

Merg at it again! Ive been watching him for a long time, and when I see him keep going with this awesome Undertale fangame gameplay it just makes my day!
Even though it's just the two boss fights, this fangame is really well made! I like how the title screen shows Mettaton to make it seem like he's the real boss, but he's not as serious as Alphys. Thanks for going back for the other endings Merg!
Mettaton's theme is an absolute banger though (also Merg digital circus reference 2023 colorized (real))

Underfell done right is a really good AU up there with things like Inverted Fate and TS! Underswap, alternate universes that really change up the gameplay and what happens
Anyone else realize that Alphys’s blue lasers are a reference to Jetpack Joyride? The rockets too, you can tell by their design and movement. This is a stretch bt the machine gun is possibly also a reference to the default Jetpack. And the yellow electric beams *might* be a reference as well to those zap laser machines.
The missiles, too. Glad someone else noticed this
Edit: I think the noise of her gun charging is the laser noise from the game as well

I cant be the only one that realized some sounds and the lasers (the blue lasers) are from Jetpack Joyride even the rockets that came at the piston attack plus the yellow laser (not the orbs)
Yes, the way the missiles look and move is definitely based on Jetpack Joyride. The laser/electric walls also look inspired by those in JJ. It’s really cool to see callbacks to good old classic mobile games, which a lot of us have grown up with

I love this game so much. Unfortunately, when I played it everytime I closed it my progress was erased, but that might be a product of the block/Scratch code it was written in. Anyways, definitely one of if not the best Underfell fangames ever made in my opinion.
Scratch doesn't save any data unfortunately, but there are methods people have made within the limitations of the engine to add rudimentary save systems. Unfortunately, you can't get much better than that without a modified version of Scratch such as TurboWarp.

The endings were quite interesting I must say. I also love how this fangame uses the same grazing mechanic with TensionPoints as Deltarune. The flowey mechanics and how flowey just sticks onto the buttons is also very funny and entertaining! Underfell is a really cool alternate universe with an interesting plot, and I am looking forward to the devs completing the game. Very cool Merg :)

I just realized that in Underfell, Sans wouldn't be the final boss in genocide, ASGORE would, which is terrifying because that would mean Asgore's battle would have to top a version of Sans that has even more will to kill you than normal Sans.

The snail pie is a healing item that actually exists in Undertale. Its only valid obtain method is to enter the hard mode (ie. name the fallen human Frisk) and get it from Toriel, replacing butterscotch pie

Fun fact: extra max HP in this game is actually bad, since atacks deal percentage based damage and thus it only makes healing items worse as they do not scale with it
That's just untrue, lol. The damage works the same way UNDERTALE does it: the damage is calculated, and for every 10 HP above 20, an extra point of damage is added. So you'll take 3 damage at 20 HP, 4 damage at 30 HP, 5 damage at 40 HP, etc. Additionally, for every 4 LV's, your defense increases by 1 point, making the attacks do less damage overall.
So yes, it is helpful to have more HP.

From your last video I think there might be an ending where you go Pacifist on MTT, but Geno on Alphys - at least in the scenario where she get's killed before the weapons, it seems like you can try to save Mettaton - because he's saying to take him with us

Easily my favourite underfell take, the characters are of course much more aggressive, but they also still are the same person, just in a different, well, timeline of events

Hey Merg, You should come back to La jupo vania! There's still more things for you to discover. You should try to beat Gregory, open the game at 5 AM (you can change your pc clock to do that) and see what happens if you dont attack ARANEA after the final attack.

As far as I can tell, this is my headcanon for Underfell. It gives Alphys a boss fight and I find it interesting that in this universe, she's the one who is antagonistic to Mettaton rather than the other way around.
