- Produced in 1964, this film is a ringside view of the chuckwagon race, star attraction of the world-famous Calgary Stampede. Once ponderous Percherons and Clydesdales thundered around the course. Now they are racers, and it takes a firm hand to guide such horsepower. Chuckwagon brings to the screen an exciting account of this extraordinary event.
Directed by Robert Barclay - 1964 | 10 min

What a fantastic preservation of history!
Beautiful film conversion like the National Film Board DOES BEST 👍❤👍!!!
I purchased this video from NFB. Thanks for sharing.
One time, outside of San Antonio, I came across a few ranch families camping with their chuck wagons. They fed me home-raised beef, cornbread, and veggies all cooked up over a fire in their antique cast iron dutch ovens.
Best food I've ever had. Picked some tunes around the fire and ate until I couldn't anymore. Gotta love those Texans.
Dangerous stuff. Saw a man go under the wheels when I was a kid-65-66 at the Stampede.
History of the chuckwagon
