Mike, I have a Barth membrane press with vacuum pump so that Festool va clamp system is calling me. I have a narrow project in 3/4" thick walnut or exotic wood 3.3" X 12" long that requires a router profile-irregular shape and have toyed with getting that smaller vacuum cup and doing a full perimeter route cut with a 3 HP Bosch with a template under the board. I have an adjustable "bar" pump so I can lower the vacuum if need be. I want to do the router in one cut using a bearing bit. What is your thought about the strength of the vacuum cup against a smooth sanded-dust free piece of walnut and taking off about 1/8" of wood for a perimeter cut? I have seen the model you have at the dealer but no demo yet. I would band saw the perimeter to within the 1/8" before routing. I am competing against a larger wood shop that has a CNC router and their machine requires 3 passes to do the perimeter. There are approx. 300 pcs to each order. The big shop is over pricing the 300 run now and I could land the work that comes 3 times a year. Vincent Rolfe Chicago, yes it is cold here but I have a heated shop.

I'm thinking of purchasing the dual set? How come you only have the one? I'm sure your wife would let you get two of them? :)

I've seen you use this vacuum system on several of your earlier videos. Quite impressive.
Best of luck with your surgery next week. Speedy recovery. I just had my 10th back surgery last Thursday. Recuperating on L.I. for the next few weeks.
Looking forward to some of your future builds when you get back in the shop.

Mike, thanks for doing the review! I actually bought the same system you have and have had it for a few days now. Oh my gosh this thing is a game changer. I have mine on top of my bench and use the vacuum to hold the clamping unit to my bench top. It works great and I have put some heavy stuff on it. Even used it for a glue up of a cabinet made of melamine that was a little complicated. I had access to all angles to set my clamps and then released it and set on floor to dry. The other thing I like since I use it on my benchtop, is when sanding, using domino or whatever, the project is higher and it is great for the back as I am standing upright and not hunched over.
Quick story of the power. I have round holes for bench dogs and to use the system on the corner of my bench I needed to fill the hole on this corner. So I cut an oversized dowel and pounded the dowel into the bench top hole with a hammer. I used the thing for a couple of hours and heard a loud pop. I thought something broke in the unit. Nope, the unit had sucked that dowel out of the bench. Wow! So I did the same process again, but this time put a smaller dowel in the bigger dowel to make a T underneath.
I don't have a ton of Festool, but this is definitely my number one Festool purchase. Like you I just love the thing.
Thanks for the review and congrats on the success of your channel.

Looks like a great solution but it appears to be noisy or at least whiny?
