    Awesome! I gave some folks your info that had some family come to join them here and none of them brought any fishing gear down because people told them you can’t catch anything in January. Hopefully they will get in touch and you will be able to show them how untrue that is😂😂.

    Sitting here watching the snow pile up while you’re talking about winter fishing being slow 😂 making me think I gotta hurry up back to LA! Also makes me wonder how I got way from there to begin with! Great job! Good idea about the salted shrimp.

    Nice vedio man
    Which reel & rod u use ?
    What size of braid on reel ?

    • @G2COASTAL
      @G2COASTAL  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! I use 12 foot Rod Hutchison Sceptre carp rods. They are a lot lighter and more sensitive than surf rods. I also run Penn Battles and Penn Pursuits. They are excellent affordable reels that are a steal for the price. I also run 20 pound braid as my main line on all my reels.

    I did salted shrimp for a while but never had much luck on it in the SC surf.

    • @G2COASTAL
      @G2COASTAL  2 года назад +3

      I’ve had people along the Gulf Coast say they didn’t have much luck with it and others swear they catch more with it. Im gonna do a fresh dead shrimp vs salted shrimp challenge one of these days and see which one wins.

      @@G2COASTAL yea there is no doubt it stays on the hook longer...I found that small cuts of the big mullet belly work best for me.

    • @G2COASTAL
      @G2COASTAL  2 года назад +1

      @@Thebankfisher thats another thing to consider, Im usually targeting Pompano and Whiting and get the Drum as a by catch, while you’re targeting Drum and toothy critters. Mullet is definitely a better bait for you in your area.

    What salt specifically do you use? Also, after in the container initially, do you put a lid on the container,
    If not does it stink the fridge up? Great idea, gonna try this next time I’m down.

    • @G2COASTAL
      @G2COASTAL  2 года назад +2

      I use Morton coarse kosher salt but any coarse kosher salt will work. I do store it in a container with extra salt and a lid on but it doesn’t have much of a smell to it. If anything it just smells like the beach.

      @@G2COASTAL thanks a ton! My shrimp always finds a way to fly off as soon as I cast 🤦🏼‍♂️ I’ve been trying to find ways to prevent that and I found this video and I’m going to try it. You are the most helpful fisherman I have found so far! Thanks again!

    • @G2COASTAL
      @G2COASTAL  2 года назад +1

      @@saltandsurffishing thanks for the kind words! Another option with fresh dead shrimp is to wrap some magic thread around it to help jee it from flying off the hook during the cast.

    Where do you store the salted shrimp, just the fridge?

      Yup I just keep it in a container in the fridge.
