Awesome stuff! You definetely took that family on a fishing trip that they'll remember for the rest of their lives! All kinds of keepers, and trophy ones too! God bless you brother🍻
I was fishing from behind my condo, about a mile or so west of you on Friday. Caught 14 whiting and 1 croaker. And thanks to you, Matthew, for showing me how to surf fish the right way.
Rough surf? For us that is easy fishing up here in the northeast. Try it sometime during the spring time when the stripers, blues to 16 lbs, black drum, fluke, weak fish that you call trout, and many other species are going crazy. I like to watch your enthusiasm that keeps me coming back.
Smoked bluefish (tailor here in Aus). Some of the best eating you'll get. Also they freeze really well if bled and frozen within 8 hrs. Just cook them from frozen. If you defrost them they go soggy, but from frozen you can't pick from fresh.
Awesome video and great setup. I’d love it if you shared more of your knowledge in your videos, like what rigs and why, how to hook bait and why, what bait and why, but overall awesome video. Congrats on the fish.
I love how your angler's sport have a rule regarding keeping the fish to bring back home which one is good for and which one is bad for, should be release back into the ocean. I can see why though, it keep the fish population steady at firm rate while not be totally extinct like in any other countries where overfishing without C&R practices. totally respect you guys, I wish I could go there, live there, and fishing for my entire life :)
I need to do a video of what you use here in Galveston. Its a whole different style. Unless you was just trying to get guys started out catching small fish in the surf such as slot reds, croaker, small drum, small sharks ...and the everlasting galftop and hardhead catfish.
@Daekj32 yeah. mostly seen them caught off the pier. I dont fish for them. gear used is popping cork with live shrimp about 3ft down.. bullet sinker.. 1/0 circle hook
It’s 36 degrees at 10 pm cdt. Show has melt. My heart is warm and thumping because of your videos. We’ll be there December 1 till April 1. Hope we have some luck. We stay at the plans on Fort Morgan. We’re you over by east side of the bridge for Perdido? Also glad you got the orange beach wheel cart. Hope to see on the beach sometime
I see you Also prefer Cork handles on you light to medium rods- bait and lure poles. Nice touch when people are payin- they're more compfy And you can feel bites better, I think - Well done. Got me excited to get to the ocean- been tying different rigs all week and watchin, taking notes- aiming for 15 types In SC. That speckled is biggest I've seen, guys very lucky. Thanks for your time for us mountain folk...gonna look for jobs and apartments while in Murrells inlet. Also, you're clever filming you can offer them a copy of the recording...genius Bum you are my friend! You're living my dream.
Vacationed there for the first time for New Years. I tried the pass but all I got was catfish. I was using fresh caught cut mullet caught a couple days before. I never tried the surf side because I assumed it would be worse than the pass. Now I wish I would have moved like you did. After four week-long trips at various times of the year and to beaches in Florida, Texas, and now Alabama, I still have never caught a Redfish. Plenty of keeper whiting though. I used fish bites, shrimp, and cut bait.
Was in same spot 2 weeks ago and only had a couple small catfish. Of course that was that last week of summer heat. Sure cooler weather has made a difference.
you are the person i wanna come to if i am gonna try to learn something about surf fishing, i am gonna go tomorrow. i made some rigs, hope i catch stuff.
I just got home from Daytona Beach FL. The fishing was terrible 7 hours only got two small whiting, one good size Atlantic croaker and a small bonnethead shark. Light wind but extremely bad surf. Not even 4 oz lead would stay in place. But on a good note my son got to play with his boogie board.🤙
Wow, what a great time. This was really wild, huge trout and big red fish. Way to go. Seems things are going good fur ya. The surf here in Daytona has been rough ! Waves at 5 feet most of the time 'cause of the storms way out. Still makeing there way back here. Yer the number one person I watch, I do watch others tho I look too yer videos first. My best too ya, Tom DB, FL.
Are those penn reels you using? I just got me the spinfisher vi 4500 and the battle 3 6000 series. Haven't had time to test them out yet, been working alot.
Nice catches.. for info if anyone can get some 4-5 to 6 inch live pinfish or grunt those cats want bother your bait and the possibilities are endless. Ive surf fished this way for flounder and sea trout for years all up and down the east coast and gulf. Enjoy your fishing!!
I admire your patience Beach Bum. I have taught my husband to fish and get so frustrated when I see him doing things that I just know will cost us a fish. BTW his nickname is ZEBCO cause he has issues with spinning reels. And no way is he touching a baitcaster or a levelwind I will never get to fish!
I'm really enjoying your videos. Reminds me of when we used to vacation in Ft Walton and I would not the beach every morning and fish until about 10:00 AM when the swimmers would start showing up. Great times. Ima subscribe, and all. Papow! Yup, I watch that guy too... Lol
Nice hugh trout, nice reds too. I just was on the North Carolina coast fishing last week, got a few slot reds, one 19" trout, and a small pompano that bit a cut bait, caught on a 6 /0 hook. Keep up the good posts bud 👍
First time watcher. Great video! We’re heading out to the Gulf in early February 2020 going to do some beach fishing and you gave us some great ideas for bait. Thanks so much I’m going to subscribe. One last thing where were you fishing at what beach? 🎣
Loving your channel so much and hope to hire you for a trip soon too - what kind and size hook do you like to use for all-purpose, multi-species, cut-bait surf fishing please?
Dude!!! This is where I caught the biggest fish of my life in August, just a few months ago! 35 incher Redfish using some cut bate, and the cheapest pole from J&M Tackle... My family had an absolute blast fishing then there going home and watching your videos. We caught tons of shark and catfish, but also lots of other species!! We were stayin bummy for sure.
Lol it doesn't take a large cut bait to catch big fish. My pb redfish was 37". I caught him on 2 pieces of Whiting fillet about the size of the piece you used. I just didn't have the spine in it. Idk why I filleted the bait lol but hey it worked anyways. No monsters here but great trout and tons of fun.
You'd be good with a 3 to 4 foot pipe, but'll be great if you use a Galvanized pipe holder. As you never know if you'll get a big giant bite. The PVC won't hold it. I recommend a Galvanized pole holder instead. You may order them online/Home Depot or Loews has them or pick up. Good Luck !!
@@williamnewton4759 You shouldn't have your drag set to where a pvc pipe can break when you get bit.. Thats how you get rods ripped out of the holder and taken into the ocean.
Can you tell me where you got those floats that were on the fishbites rig? I've been looking for those in that color and size but haven't found em. Thanks in advance.
What i wouldn't give to have about 150 pounds of them trashy catfish in my freezer this winter..Where i'm at, ocean fish of any sort starts at 5 bux a pound & goes up.
Awesome stuff! You definetely took that family on a fishing trip that they'll remember for the rest of their lives! All kinds of keepers, and trophy ones too!

I love the Gator Trout caught on a surf fishing rig with cut bait! Massive!!

Knocked it OUT of the ball yard! That trout was SPECtacular! Amazing trip!
One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish, --- Dr. Seuss 🥴😳😜

Cool trip... Looks like everyone had a good time. Thanks for sharing. Trout was a beauty.
awesome! Super cool catching a trout like that.. and the variation of fish right from the surf. Love it!

I’m up in Sioux Falls SOUTH DAKOTA. WOULD LOVE TO EMAIL YUO ABOUT SOME PLACES WE COULD GO WHILE WERE HERE
Happened to me last week also, trash fish for 3 hours. Then pompano came through(all under size) redfish followed, 3 keepers really quick. Nice trout!
Glad someone’s having luck. We’ve tried everything but the kitchen sink for two days and no luck. Three days to go! Good luck!
Congratulations this place is so beautiful it has so many fish.
*Hug!!!* 👍🎣🐟😉

Using cut bait sounds like a good technique to catch your limit of hardheads, sailcats, and stingrays.
That is the best comment I’ve seen in a while

If you freeze bluefish fillets in water they keep good.
A very big peeve of mine, someone twisting my line by reeling while the drag is going. Another good video though.
I tend not to take ppl who have no experience in fishing, not that I’m being an a hole but just stuff is expensive and they don’t understand it
BamaBeachBum is a gentleman...letting newbs enjoy themselves instead of getting mad/worrying about line twist.
Trout legal is 15-19" with one over 19" allowed per vessel.
That’s the FL regulations. I believe Alabama where he is fishing is different
Awesome video. Do you have many break-offs? If not, what kind of line would you swear by?
Good stuff..Bama Beach Bum has it going on!!
Waoooo the big fish..
Long strike
Nice 💪👍👍👍
another great video, so entertaining!
That’s a quality trip!! Nice to have a little variety in the box at the end of a day of fishing
Looks like a great trip
This must have been Sunday, we went out on Saturday , nothing but catfish on fish bites and cut bait. We were on the pier.
Looks like they will remember that fishing trip for a long time!

Big day!! Great job!
Great job getting them on the fish with the rough surf.
What a DAY! wish they were all like this one
Your videos good I learn some tips watching your videos, I fish Florida during the fall!!
Nice trip Matt'' blackened redfish for weeks'',. :)))))))))))))))
Grill bluefish with a honey mustard / mayonnaise mixture. The mayo pulls out the nasty bluefish oil
Yall are lucky, in NC flounder season is closed till further notice...commercial and recreational fishing.
I think ours is closing for the first time ever this year in November.
what type of hooks do you use for these sessions? not targeting pompano necessarily
I noticed... most of the reel handles are on the left.
Here in south Africa most of the handles are on the right.
Just an observation.🤔
They have loooong butt rods. Our rods have short butt.
When is the next catch and cook at a local restaurant?!
Does it not drive you insane how they continue to reel against the drag and point the rod at the fish over and over
Dude! That family had a blast! Nice job
Wow! That lead had to be at least 4 oz in that surf. Great vid.
Awesome fishing but also great taste in knives. That Salt Spyderco with H1 is 🔥
Loving your channel so much and hope to hire you for a trip soon too - what kind and size hook do you like to use for all-purpose, multi-species, cut-bait surf fishing please?

Nice show, enjoy your commentary.
Redfish slot in Fl is 18-27" only one person. Just realized yall were in Alabama so disregard both comments. They only apply to Fla
Awesome fishing trip
Size limit is 20 to 27 in Florida but in texas is 20 to 28
Damn brother that is a massive one you rarely see specs that big cut off the beach
What rod and reel combos do you prefer to use?
Lol it doesn't take a large cut bait to catch big fish. My pb redfish was 37". I caught him on 2 pieces of Whiting fillet about the size of the piece you used. I just didn't have the spine in it. What area are you fishing? I’m used to fishing pcola beach when I’m surf fishing but just moved to perdido so I’m a lot closer to Orange beach.
Looked like Perdido Pass to me. Alabama Point likely.
What do you about that “June Grass” on the surf. I catch more of that then anything else lately.
The date says 8 mos ago . Is that not November? Is the June grass bad in November?
tim scott when you watch it in June, and you talk to a guy who’s an expert fisherman, the date shouldn’t matter.
I love your rig, is it Carolina rig?
May never get to see ya but I sure enjoy your show thanks bum
What gear you fishing with
Cool video! Is this Destin?
Really great day. Family trips with kids are the best.
How far do you walk out I am 5'6 I go out to my chest or up to my neck
Sling some 4 hook rigs , I caught three pomp,s in one cast off Dauphin Island a few years back!
Which beach were yall at??
Love your videos!!! Made me start keeping whiting!
RUclips Fishermen think they know it all sometimes. They haven’t seen the fish yet and he’s like “that’s a red right there.” 😂
Leonard Holt very informative kind sir.
Wissam Peter I understand what you’re getting at, but no need to criticize a guy who’s doing what he loves.
What knife do you have there (yellow handle)?
Beautiful trout, congrats!
How long of a piece of PVC pipe do you use for rod holders?

Awesome fishing- wonderful video!
i got a 25 in spec trout first cast
nice job! what number of hook?
i felt bad for the little girl reachin for the pole.maybe next time dad will pass the pole.
whats ur set up for surf fishing leader
Can you tell me where you got those floats that were on the fishbites rig? I've been looking for those in that color and size but haven't found em. Thanks in advance.
try foam earplugs in that color
Size hook and everything
What kind of fish did you use for cut bait
