  • This is a film tracing the dramatic history of the Swedish Air Force dedicated photo reconaissance wing, F 11, based at Skavsta outside Nyköping during WWII and the Cold War, from 1941 to 1980.
The Swedish version of the video is usually shown non stop during open hours in the F11 Museum at Stockholm-Skavsta Airport. The Museum web page is www.f11museum.se and there is a condensed English language section.
This version of the video includes a recent eight minute sequence, detailing the daring low level recce raids over the WP Baltic coast in the autumn of 1958 by eight unmarked S 29C 'Tunnan' (Flying Barrel) from the F 11 3rd Squadron. Two former pilots, who took part in the raids, tell for the first time about the top secret mission.

With all the hullabaloo over the US F-35, I don't think it is appreciated that Sweden produces world-class, cutting edge and extremely capable, indigenous aircraft.
