Hmmm. I actually like this whisky. For a cheaper blend, so far it’s one of my favorites.
Thanks for the review!
black bush is around the same price and can compete with even high end scotch
@@catnapgee5357
I’ve never tried it, but I’ll be looking for it.
Thank you!
You’re a hard man to please. Dewars white label is pretty good for being a common mass produced scotch.
Well let’s not kid ourselves
Scotland’s finest single malt and grain whiskies are used to make Dewar’s White Label. Each one is hand-picked to create this full, round and lively whisky. With a clear, golden honey color, it offers a balanced blend of Scottish heather and honey on the nose with delicate notes of unripened pear and a hint of oak. On the palate, the whisky delivers a delightful blend of soft vanilla with honey and blooming heather, well-rounded with a slight smoky sensation emerging. The finish is slightly dry with lingering heather/honey overtones and the faintest touch of smoke.
fuck me do you work for dewars?
@@ARCSTREAMS fuck yourself....
Agreed!. It's a very fine drop relative to it's price range. Very surprised that Horst did not detect the smokey notes.
@@yuser5821 he is getting old and his taste buds are worn out.
Sipping on glass right now, mild, easy to drink. Definitely something I could sip the night away on.
oh yeah....!
Put the slightest splash of clean water in it, trust me on this.
I love dewars. The smoky flavor is what I love in my whiskey.
I have a great interest in whiskey's now after watching Horst in a lot of video reviews.
Laughed out loud at 7:28. Thank you, Horst.
:-)
Yup, my reaction was similar :)
Greetings from Poland
my grandfather used to drink dewers all the time. I'm proud to have 2 fingers in his honor whenever I think of him.
That's a good reason to enjoy a cheap grain whiskey! ;) I do the same!
James Blazes that was my dads i have a long weekend off but i haven't get paid whisky.. He used to mix it with coconut water and ice.. off to the beach he was..
I had some on the plane for the first time last week. I loved it! It was light, refreshing, smooth... eh, but what do I know, haha!
I was a little skeptical buying a cheap blended whiskey, but it was still very nice.
I love all things German, but I have never seen a German spirit sold in the USA except for Jägermeister - the deer hunter liquor.
its great whisky for mixing drinks dewars and ginger ale with an orange slice is awesome
OHHHH that sounds like a good drink. I'll try that
tried the Dewars, ginger ale and orange slice you suggested. Very nice. Thank you for the suggestion
Scoured and seen other whiskey reviewers on RUclips and still find Mr Luening’s style of reviews one of the bests. Motivating, moving and masterful! Keep it up!
one of the beast* :P
@@diabloo7 beastado!!!
No mention of the nice smokiness that lingers well after you finish.
Im drinkin a glass right now and i think it is a very tasty scotch! Dont hesitate to buy a bottle because of one reveiw. Everyone has different likes in the way a whiskey should be/taste like, ya wont know if ya dont try er lol. I would recommend it! btw nice review buddy, cheers :)!
Megadeth!
It taste like eating a cigar
It’s very pleasant on the rocks.
@@Sick_and_Tired850
No way . This proves that whiskey taste is very subjective.
I think it’s a very good entry level mild whiskey.
I do respect your opinion Sir 😀
Yep, mild, not distinctive but tasteful. Entry level.
This one hits different on an airplane.
Legendary comment 👏
5th best selling whiskey .
I like it .
Taste is subjective. I’m not a single malt fan . I prefer blended. That’s just me . I won’t judge you ... 😋🥃
This was very educational,Iam sipping a 15 year Dewars and Iam getting the bitterness from the oak but still a nice dram, but I like the Dewars 19 year, however the 15 year Dewars comes with a nice tin container that I use to keep coins in.I never realized Scotch distillers would re'use casks, now I get it.
Great review. Even better sound quality. Don't change a thing!
LOL Yeah, I kind of understand those toppers to prevent tampering, but sometimes my lack of patience creates stress!
I prefer Famous Grouse to this as far as blends go. I still watched the whole review. The power of Horst!
Thank you for doing blended scotch. Good video.
I went to Reddit to read reviews and wow what scotch snobs. They all say it tastes very strong alcohol and like vomit. I don’t taste anything like that. It doesn’t taste like most scotch. It’s pretty mild. Sweet too. I like the taste.
'Spirity and rough' were my disappointing initial impressions but, having acclimated to it, I now rather like it. Very fresh, possibly unripe, pear note and a similarly 'fresh' cereal note too. Bit pricey for a bottom shelf whisky (in the UK at least) but also a bit better than the competition imo.
Drinking right now.. kick ass whisky bittery malt, 0 grain, the next level to the entry level scotch, real scotch 👍
This Scotch changes quite a bit from the time is first opened to once it has had some time to oxidize. I didn't really like it much upon first opening. I left a half filled bottle in a dark liquor cabinet for two months and tried it again. Much much better! Fuller body, and more smokey flavor profile and less young tasting. Yes the cap was on tight. Please go back to it after you allow it to oxidize some. It improves.
most whiskies improve even after only a few days with only a quarter down ,,i tried bells one time and thought it was nasty dry swill,,the next day its as if i was drinking a completely new whisky,it opened up amazingly and had a range of wonderful flavors
When I was a late teenager I would take a little bit of liquor from my parents stash from time to time. One of the times I tried a small glass of the Dewars white label from a bottle that was around half full and probably sitting there a long time. It was absolutely delicious and I got a really nice buzz from it. Once I was older and able to buy alcohol for myself I bought the same bottle of Dewars because of how good I remember it being. It was not what I remembered, tasted a lot lighter and the buzz wasn't as good either. It makes sense now that it needed to be opened and left out for a while in order for it to be at its best, much like other liquors as I've noticed so i completely agree with what you're saying too.
People sleep on Dewars but so gd and affordable. 15 my favorite. Been watching you since 2019. Love tour reviews. Thanks for video
Of the 3 year olds White Label is better than JW Red. When I am poor I drink this stuff with soda water. A wonderful drink is homebrewed ginger beer. Add a finger of scotch and the two warmths - ginger and scotch - go quite well together. It is best to keep the proportion of scotch low to maintain a good balance. It pretty much must be a home-made ginger beer because the bought ginger beers are mediocre at best. PS Just had Dewars 18 yr old - very smooth.
Agreed. Dewars white label is a standout amongst the lower priced options. I was surprised that Horst did not mention the distinct smokey, peaty characteristics, which is why I drink it.
Are you a millionaire now? 😅
I like how you talk about it and I would be interested in learning what whisky you would recommend sub $50?
My favorite so far is probably Oban. Not too keen on overly smokey ones.
surprised you never picked up he sherry note, oh yes it has sherry cask influence although a tad more subtle than famous grouse
Many years ago I had tried Dewar's White label and quite honestly found it to be something that I didn't even want to drink. Hard part is, it is about the only Scotch choice on many flights. Now that my pallet is more in line with heavy peated whiskey's, I circled back to try this to see how bad it really is. Funny thing is, I found it to not necessarily be bad, just not a very flavorful or complex whiskey. Kinda like drinking a bud light after having lived in Germany for three years and returning home. Can drink it, it is mild, but there are other choices that I would prefer. May actually get again if I start to have to fly more often again. However, won't be the backbone of my home whiskey choices anytime soon.
I prefer The Famous Grouse but I picked up a bottle of Dewar's on sale - drinking it right now... ha
I understand that you don't like the expression "up to 40 single malts and single grain whisky's" but that's the reality. There are as many as it takes to make Dewars White; the exact same flavour year to year, and that may change, as barrels change, grains change, a.s.o. To whisky blend producers, what goes in is unimportant (within the constraints of the law or company policy) what matters is what comes out!
No mention of the distinct peat and smoke?
Sir please suggest whiskey for hot wheat her..In india here temp is 45 degrees in summer..so suggest name of those whiskey which does no produce too much heat in body...
Which one is good?among teachers highland cream, J&B,Dewars white label, vat 69,black & white, black dog, ballantines, passport, cutty sark,Jim Beam,
Black & white. I personally don't like teachers but it's great too. Jim beam is the smoothest among them.
@@albuquerquenm3543 ok thanks for reply
Horst can you do some aged Rum reviews? something i would like to try the aged ones.
I really enjoyed the review.
Drinking my first Dewar's white label right now and maybe it's just me but I smell leather..leather shoes in the aroma.
It's a sweet whisky but not in a bad way.
I like expensive scotches as much as the next guy but dewars white is one of my every day sippers
Dewars White Label is a very Decent Blended Scotch whisky for the price. It's really not that bad . I drink it with ice 🧊 and a splash of water 💧.
Pleasant choice for highball !!
i love your videos, but for whiskeys "variety is the spice of life" i think most whiskeys are excellent and that includes Dewar's.
totally agree...
Also; the Aberfeldy you drink as a single malt may be very different from the Aberfeldy in your Dewars!
Another fantastic review, love it!
Hahaha the reaction to the pour of that bottle cracked me up. Great review
I'm definitely tasting some of the stuff that it's supposed to taste like, seems my whisky tasting skills are improving. I wouldn't drink shots of this whisky and chase them with beer. But then again I might, after I got done tasting it for a little while, and got tired of just taking little sips.
Go the Kaiser of the dram .... love your work.
The taste lingers. Good review
Am I wrong? Didn't DWL used to say 10 years old on the bottle? Or was there a 10?
It was always the family's number one Scotch. For good reason. Grandfather, uncle and father.
Grandfather was a very animated Scotch drinker at times. On his first passionate sip of the day of his scotch and soda, two hands around the glass, pinkies out, lips pursed to the liquid then the slurp, and the; "Ahhhh. Not a bad place this North America", in his Irish Bronx accent. Or the less frequent but got to hear it once; "God is in his firmament and all is right in the world".
Cheers Pop!
Anyone noticed a tobacco-like aftertaste?
there must be a mic in this man's mouth lol
I like it. My wife bought me dewars 25 year signature for my birthday it's just waiting to be opened : )
When you left the bar at the hotel in Spain you must have been pickled ha ha.good review thanks.
definitely have to agree that this tastes much better mixed than it does on ice. I have an old old bottle i found at my grandparent's and it's the first whiskey i've tried. on it's own it's just alright but not all that great, but mixed, especially with coke, it begins to taste a little sweeter to me and tasted much better.
a little sweeter with coke you say,,smh why not sugar and water instead?
Great review and taste , I’m interested it also
My uncle he really loves that whiskey but I can’t get it in my state
Thank you for the review.
Omg hahaha😂😂😂lmfao seeing th looks on your face while sampling the dewars white label "bottom shelf" "budget" scotch 😂😂😂
This was the first scotch I tried. I thought it was good but I've only tried this one and a Macallan's 12. I'm thinking about buying a bottle of this to use for old fashioneds though.
Technically, if you use Scotch in an Old Fashioned, it's called a Rob Roy! #TrueFact🤔
How was the Macallan’s?
Would you please do an educational video about grain whisky? I am not sure about what its contribution is to blends. People say that it "rounds out" the flavor, but that seems rather non-specific. Thanks for the videos!
I will do in time. We are also currently writing an article for whisky.com about all the types.
Kinda like ASMR when he starts sniffing.
Also, is there mic in your neck?
Bob Gray I got so much asmr from this lol Im like falling asleep with a glass in my hand
No mention of it's age?
Seen this all the time and I finally got it. It's Smooth and Dead Flat 😅
Thank you for your review...it's super whisky
"Coyote Ugly or whatever" talk about pure savagery. I laughed.
thought the 5th most world sold was J&B? you said that yourself in that review

very good review. I agree. when I smelled it I was impressed. then I tasted it. not good
How much should i pay for 1.14 bottle
am israel chai !!! Hahahahaha sounds about right!
i think the taste resembles a bit johnny walker blue label
Its smooth i just hate the after taste
Every time I hear him speak, I hear Christoph Waltz 😂
Very thin and sweet. This whiskey is missing depth and robustness. Like watered down, alcoholic honey. Here in Manila it is about £7 a bottle.
Mabuhayyyyyy👌👌👌😎✌️🍻🥃🍻🥃🍻
Good honest review... Teacher's is much better... agree?
I like this guy! I'm interested in hearing the "Buzz"/hangover effects of people who Actually Drink tho😉
no hangover.... ever!
I find it so informative when people review basic blended whiskies and then come out with the amazing insight the taste is not as good as or complex as an 18 year old single malt. Why was the smell better than the taste? If you can't explain it what insight can you provide?
i put a splash of Laphroaig in it to add interest
Absolutey
The Queen would be shit-faced on a couple of glasses of the good stuff.
Just came here to see my last name.
Try your birth certificate too.

You just saved me some money. My local package store had it on sale so I thought I would check out some reviews on it. Thanks, to you I have more money in my pocket.
I like it
I just got a bottle of this because online reviews seemed to be in favor of it. It's horrible. So many other better whiskey's at this price point. I'd go with Bushmills over this any day.
You’re not German ?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dewars vs johnnie walker? :-P
The face says it all
Firstly the sound / Voice is not clear. Need improvements here. I am having this whisky right now and for my palatte I feel this is a great everyday scotch at good price.
right on...!
It's not good for an everyday scotch. Even Teacher's is better
@@subutaynoyan5372 Depends on individuals

So hesitant
Good review the acting I like. 😜

Okay ✅ it’s like drinking gasoline
Why do you say it's a mass market whisky & therefore I don't like it. You are trying to be snobbish.. You are reviewing a mass market product which the poor masses can only aford to buy. By saying such words you are hurting their feelings.......not a good strategy
If you want to know what this Scotch taste like. Find a cigar and eat it.
Tastes like Turpentine. IMHO.
Not good
It taste disgusting
