** What's with the necklaces?
Rex is a whiskey mooch. His necklace is a manifestation of pure glory - forged from the irradiated bones of eagles and wolves. Also a tube sock.
See the origin story here: goo.gl/JMc2Hr
Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.
**A Whisk(e)y school?
Yup. Here are a few things we believe.
** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.
Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.
** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.
There's an old saying, "In business, it's not what you know... It's who you know."
Regardless the industry you're in, most people are clumsy and ineffective when it comes to "networking" because they ignore a very important rule - Relationship First, Business Second.
There's a tremendous amount of curiosity about Whisk(e)y today. It's a great excuse for you to gather a group of people who want to have fun and learn something new. The Whisk(e)y School teaches you how to tap into that curiosity, and share your love of whisk(e)y in an unpretentious way. You're demonstrating knowledge, expertise, and an engaging personality - things valued by every gatekeeper, in every industry.
Or would you rather hand out business cards and cross your fingers?

WOW almost 100K!! WOW !!
You guys are on fire 🔥🔥
Just opened this bottle today…and what’s changed the most in 2 years? Rex’s hair! His hair over the two years might be an analogy of our journey through covid for the past year and a half
I am Speysider born and bred (Glenrothes was at the end of my road growing up and I work at Strathisla) I had some suggestions of Speyside whiskies for you to try:
Glenfarclas 105,
Glenlivet Nadurra Peated Cask,
Ballantines 17,
Chivas Regal Ultis,
Royal Salute 21.
A lot of these whiskies are from the company I work for but what can I say, staff sales are great!
This episode is a great example of why y’all are so popular. It’s like sports announcing, Daniel is the play by play man and Rex is the color commentator. Y’all feed off of each other so well, but always center yourselves back to Whiskey 🥃. As always love the vids and as long as you are around I will be a strong supporter! Cheers!
For your 100,000 subscriber video you should do a serious taste testing of Fireball Whiskey.
I have always enjoyed whiskeys and bourbons etc as they are so much less boring than other liquors out there. After finding you magnificent individuals, you have opened my eyes so much more. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and started to try different whiskeys, spent more time trying to pick a part the notes in the whiskey and it has become an amazing adventure. I now know what I really love and what is not that great for my taste.
thats awesome Emily. thanks for being here!
Am I the only one who sometimes imagines the whiskey Vault as adult story time? I'm imagining a bunch of grown ups sitting "criss-cross applesauce" on the floor just out of view.
Lol yes you are, but that's fucking hilarious
Every time I open a new whickey I youtube it and these guys show up. Great content! Congrats on 100K subsrbers!!... wait 400K now :)
#Vault100 I think you guys should do a video with Ralfy being the two iconic channel in our Whisky RUclips Category!
Congratulations guys on closing the fastest record, Maybe open a bottle of Brora or Port Ellen? Cheers
Whatever is abt 18yrs old will have woody flavour, I personally expected better from Dewars 18. something like Dewar Signature. Love ur videos.
Lemon pepper is absolutely spot on ,provided you don't add water. However none of my friends agree. Also it's very different from Dewars 15
Hey was wondering if you guys know much about the Highland Park Odin. I came across it while I was out hunting a week ago. Pretty expensive but the box and display was so cool. Kind makes me want to pick it up
Congratulations guys, Glad I was here for it :)
Have you done a review of Royal Bracula 10 and 12?
It's funny i've been watching you guys since Nov some time last year. I finally subscribed lol.
Another great video!Glenfinnich 21 rum cask
Not much for commenting but damn I sure am glad I found this channel back in April.
Love the channel, guys! Quick question..
I have been eyeing the Vicomte 8year single malt french whisky. I saw it at a store and did some research on it and it seems really interesting. Do you guys have a review on this one or can you do a review on it? It seems so intriguing and i dont have much experience with cognac, but this whisky is reported to be aged in ex-cognac barrels, and the french does do wine and cognac VERY well. Thoughts?
Huge congrats on the 100K guys!!
For the 100K You can invite us over there and drink all together at the whisky Vault!!!
I would love to see you guys review some common whiskeys that everyone can get and then give us tasting notes like in Daniels note book. Show us how to use such a book and give us the flavors we should be looking for. That way we could have a sample from different types of whiskey and learn how to pick out the flavor profiles... I know it would help me!
I absolutely love your reviews. Its like youre refined and drunk. Perfect.
Kinda cool to watch a video mentioning the approach to 100k subs when they just passed 400k last week 😎.
What’s the best price range for a home-use new oak barrel? I found my new 3 liter barrel for $55, including s&h.
What would you buy in 70 bucks( scotch only)???
I've been watching a lot of of your videos recently, and while trying multiple whiskeys, smell some coffee beans and chew on a small piece of ginger between whiskeys to clear your palette. Otherwise a sip and sniff of espresso and then some water do a good job as well
Dewar's white label = my everyday go-to. It's on just about every commercial flight I've been on, it's been in nearly every resturaunt I've visited. My opinon, can't beat it for $20. I even like the white lable better than the 12yr. But how does the Dewar's18 compare to a 14 yr Oban or Clynelish?
So the Dewar's white label isn't very good, how's the 12yo? It's still a bargain-priced scotch, but costs about 30% more than the white label. Interested in options for less expensive "every day" scotches.
I will watch the vault, when you guys are travel the world!
Congrats on 100K
How do they find so many notes in here? I tried this, it’s basically a nothing scotch. Super thin, mildly sweet, zero finish. It’s incredibly smooth, the alcohol is imperceptible. It tastes fine, but tastes like almost nothing.
Rex, this whole episode, I kept thinking you had on one or those Daniel Boone racoon hats. I really wish i had the excuse of having had a few drinks.
#vault100k hey Daniel! Congrats on being so close to breaking that 100k subscriber mark! It’s a huge accomplishment and it’s been fun lurking in the shadows and watching your channel grow. My thought for a special you could do for 100k is a “100 year blend” where you take different whisk(e)ys from various years and blend them together so that the total age of the bottles add up to 100. That way you can have something special that you guys created with (hopefully) a complex flavor blend that Daniel will like and enjoy making while throwing in an expensive bottle or two to please Mr. Mooch. Keep up the great work!
Jason M.
Cool handle.
Daniel, Rex. I bought Laphoaig 10 this weekend. It tastes like a burnt stick out of a campfire. You did this to me.
Stay with it. Buy/use a whiskey that is "bland" to you, hopefully cheap. Then start by just adding small amounts of Laphroaig and increase until you crave Laphroaig!
Edit: Add Laphroaig to your daily pour and not to your whole bottle of whiskey.
Ong Gia Never thought about that! I should have done that, but now I almost a full on lover of Laphroaig.... Almost
Ong Gia do you have a preferred whiskey or type of whiskey to start adding? Should I stick with adding a little to scotch?
It's a matter personal preference really. Whichever whisk(e)y is the most bland to your taste. That way you can slowly acclimate to the smokey, peaty of Laphroaig. Or you can just keep the cork in your Laphroaig and sip on Black Bottle or Teacher's Highland Cream, both blends have a milder smokey, peatyness. Once you're use to it try the Laphroaig again.
Forgot about Black Grouse. It's also a pretty good peated blend.
Whoa! Almost 100K subs! Push it to the top!
At least take a road trip to Balcones (Or another distillery being Daniel has already been there)! Fun and shenanigans along the way.
Today the first "legal" drink I had was a double pour of Logavoulin 16 neat at the Grand total of $13, oh and I didn't even pay for it. Coming off of JW Black label it really made me want beef jerky, I also found one of my new favorite spots depending on the bartender. Coincidence? Nahhhhh.
Cheers to you magnificent bastards 🥃
P.s. how's my mooch score so far?
-Tristan
Just for one video, I would love to see you guys switch spots.
For 100K wives do the tasting
Hows that Vault organization going?
Love the videos . funny AF as always .
love your content
Just opened and sipped this one. I can confidently assert that in no way imaginable it tastes like cucumber with lemon pepper 🤷
#vault100k you should blend 5 islay whiskys. Any expression but! It has to be a Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Kilchoman, and Talisker
Also do the same with bourbon
You could show us every bottle in the vault along with a review of them :)
have you guys tried whisky with salt?, could be a video i read an article about it,not tried it myself yet
shrewvian like salted brim? Never heard of this.
no crushing a little bit of sea salt flakes into the whisky as salt magnifies flavour it should in theory magnify the inherent flavours in the whisky
shrewvian hmmmmm do have some seasalt at home and a bottle of Jameson Caskmates. I'll have to give it a crack.
shrewvian okay so I recently tried it. I used Himalayan Salt and regular SeaSalt recently on some Jameson Caskmates Stout.
I prefer the Himalayan Salt. Especially not crushed or ground up. Just 2 little salt rocks worked good to open up a little more flavor but also made the whiskey feel more oily.
SeaSalt just didn't do the trick. I can see this salt trick working better with a simple budget bourbon.
I tried this 4 ways.
Himalayan 1 crack into the Glencarin
Next glass of Himalayan 2 salt rocks and did the same with the regular SeaSalt.
Next experiment will be with the Himalayan salt and maybe a couple of drops of water.
im gonna get me some himalayan rock salt and try it myself
Nice haircut Mooch!
#vault100k Give Rex 100 whiskies to mooch!!!! This is for you Rex. Don't say I don't give a s**t about you.
I might actually try Dewars now.
Maybe...
Dewars 18 is what I blind poor for self professed (but obviously inexperienced) scotch snobs...they've all liked it
What about Dewar's 12?
Why not start small. Line up one east coast and one west coast meet up.
22nd! also Dewar's 12 ain't to shabby
The Mooch's hair is very Joe Dirtesque
I don't want you to ACTUALLY travel the world....but travel the world through whiskeys. Like start with Bourbons and American Whiskeys, then move on to Japanese, then Irish Whiskeys, and lastly the many expressions of Scotch.
Millionaires blendageddon!!! Make a blend with all the most expensive whiskeys in the vault
160 away from 100,000 as of 5:45pm CDT.
You guys didn’t w en talk about the entire vault bottle down. For you very bottle close to its end for the 100K
Rex, I have a Mooch story for you:
Last year I visited my brother in California. While staying at his apartment (mooch point 1), I managed to sample some limited edition Dewar's single malt releases they had sent him as a promotional item. He also had a magnum of 2004 Moet & Chandon in the fridge from the previous year's Golden Globes which a friend of his had attended. I managed to convince him that it was the perfect occasion to take it out and split it with me (the generous fellow he is).
Any chance I can mooch a channel shout out for anyone looking to work off their whiskey calories?
You guys are awesome, keep it up!
You guys should vape whiskies at 100k
To celebrate 100K subscribers, I want Daniel to do a unplugged cover of "Dancing Queen" with Rex dancing in a hot pink leotard with rave glowsticks
I was about to say. Pub tour across the country?
Write a travel guide
You have arrived
Almost 200k now
5 magical golden tickets~, 5 lucky recipients have free reign of the vault~

Brotherhood of the traveling infinity bottle
18 more to go!!
what is you guys fav scotch?
Rex, Daniel, check the The Whiskey Tribe tag on Twitter. I translated the Toast into Italian
Tomorrow night you should hit 100k.
Well done you magnificent bastards!
#vault100k also, maybe do a Daniel's personal across the board top 10 whiskies?
How about randomly selecting a MB to go the Launch party? Room and flight included. #vault100k
For 100k subscribers we could do some kind of lottery! 5 bottles to give away to 5 lucky MBs for example... or some kind of secret Santa? That might be hard to organize though...
For 100,000, I think they should dye their hair. I recommend the Scott Ian raccoon style for Daniels beard.
I like coñac more than whiskey but Dewar's is nice whit some big block of ice 😚👌🏼
Cognac is where I started, Remy Martell and Hennessy to be specific; but now I find it way too sweet. Bourbon is my usual Tuesday whiskey while Scotch is my Birthday whisky.
Ong Gia im just a coñac Scotch guy had some bad times whit Bourbon and i mix whit tabaco maybe thats why Bourbon is like s no no maybe a $100 will be good have to try
#Vault100k please invite Richard Patterson to the show and compile whisky antics and challenges to amuse the MOB... us like riding a horse while trying to pour whiskey while doing a obstacle course for time. or maybe a safer thing would be to do a blind whisky challenge on richard patterson and see if you can stump him.
Are you guys ball busting Josh Galllalllaliiiday? Shouldn't he be a saint by now?
If they never use the same name twice... sainthood can never come. Loopholes!
I would love to see Rex get a tan (spray on or tanning bed) he looking a bit pasty and clammy for a Texan in the summer #vault100K
48.99 dollars Costco san jose Dewar's 18...
