Another cracking video, fantastic channel! Do you my any chance have access to a .243? I’ve been using mine for the last 3 years on fallow with 100gr lead and have no complaints with chest shots including some big old boys. However if you read forums they would have you think fallow would just laugh the caliber off. My concern is if we have to go non toxic will I still get the same results? Could be a great video topic for you and I would really appreciate it as well as proving to others that the caliber works! Cheers mate
Hello buddy! Thanks for the positive feedback! Harry uses a 243 and has no complaints about its performance, even on Fallow. I think the only caveat he’d have is that at longer distances it can lack a bit of punch but nothing to worry to much about!
My first red was with the .243 111kg dressed ran 20 yds then dropped dead. I use my .243 a lot at last light with a digital scope just being sensible with the range. Shot 4 muntjac and one fallow this week with it.
@@TheDeercast that's decent. Thanks for the info. I sent two boxes of Fox 150gr 30 cal bullets to a PH in South Africa who does quite a bit of hunting. From his 30-06 he got 844ms for the 150gr Fox. He shot a number of plains game species, some over the 250m mark, and had no issues either.
Great vid good result, your Lab is steady enough, my young ( 12 months ) BMHxLab is tethered to me for now, indicating well but a bit of whining started of recent, think it’s the excitement but a flick of the ear and some lowered harsh words is my method for now .
You might hear in the video that my lab does a bit of whining after the shot - it’s pure excitement as she wants to be told to ‘find it’. My fault! Good luck training yours, it’s very rewarding!
@@TheDeercast He’s from working parents and super keen so I know that aspect will be fine, I’m concentrating on the basics for now, obedience and steady, tracking can come later .
Enjoyed the video, wish you had a better camera or zoom! thanks for sharing.
Curious why scope is on 15x when shooting at that distance? Would less mag and wider field of view not be better for multiple animals? Great video!
It was initially wound up to ensure we were selecting Does not Prickets.
The lab is very steady while you are taking the shot well done.
She’s not bad!

In Nz 243 is used for all game. For non toxic the Barnes bullets in a 243 are very effective out to 250,300m easily.
What velocity are you getting from the 130gr and 150gr fox?
911m/s for the 130gr and 831m/s for the 150gr.

I use the 130’s in my 20 inch TX3 .308. No complaints either. 👍
like watching pain dry
Do you mean ‘paint’?
That's not what I understand 2 for 1 to mean, I had 2 Roe for 1 shot in December, unintentionally I should say though.
Fair enough
Good video again. The voice over works well. Two down thanks to quick reload on the Tikka! Paul@testvalleyvenison
