FG 820 is a nice guitar. You get a solid sitka spruce top. Mahogany back and sides. Nice binding, including the neck. The neck also has a nice profile for my taste and with a little gentle action adjustment is very easy to play. In my opinion, this is a much better choice than the 800. Better value for money, although very slightly more expensive. I have two Yamaha LL16s, one a 12 string, and still find myself picking up the 820 on a daily basis!
They do for sure! But the FG800 is just a lot of guitar for only 180-200 euros :D The best price / value. Plus I think the FG800 sounds amazing, too :)
It's a standard sized dreadnought, bigger than the OM body I think. The bottom section of the body is actually a little wider than a standard dreadnought. It's around 16 1/4" wide whereas a standard dreadnought is around 15 3/4" from my experience, but they vary. I also think you can get a 'folk' version of this that has a smaller body if you prefer that.
@@hb7257 No problem. I forgot to add that the smaller model is called FS I think instead of FG. I would assume the FG will sound a little louder and bassier too. Whatever you choose I hope you enjoy. So I just looked it up. The FG means Folk Guitar and the FS means Folk Small. This same guy has a review of the FS820. ruclips.net/video/5q25cCs0l6M/видео.html
@@insaneshanex Wow how kind of u :) btw I'm korean and we dont have much of information of it, so I was searching around the Ymaha guitar in Youtubr. Ur explanation is help a lot :) thanks for sharing. Have a nice day
Fortunately, this particular Yamaha FG does come with that option (thank goodness!). It was the ONLY reason I ended up buying it instead of the more attractively-priced FG800...well, that and the mahogany back/sides were a bit too hard to resist for me (lol)... ;-)
FG800 is still the better value for the listed price, but not by much. FG820 is slightly higher in price, but has sturdier cream-colored binding that goes all the way up the fretboard, genuine mahogany back and sides for an even warmer and more balanced tone, an actual rosewood bridge and fretboard (FG800 uses a far less expensive walnut alternative for both, which is NOT to everyone's liking based on some customer reviews I've read on a music retailer site recently), and most importantly: IT HAS A LEFT-HANDED VARIANT! Last part is the real reason why I ended up settling for the FG820 instead of the 800, truth be told. As a southpaw beginner, the only other guitar I could find in a similar price range that just might possibly top that one is the Alvarez AD-60L, which has the same features save for the nut and saddle being real bone instead of hard plastic. Unfortunately, not many retailers here in the US carry that brand since it's not necessarily a big name like Yamaha is for example. That said, FG820 was the next best option for my current budget anyway. ;-)

I'll be getting my FG820 in about 3 days, never been this excited for any purchase ever!
I just got my FG820 and I love the sound I had the FG800 and I think the Mahogany back and sides make a big difference in tone

Absolutely, a Mahogany sounds more-rich than a Nato.
And the 830 only gets better with Rosewood back and sides
Ya no fabrican en ese color

Can you plug this into an amp?
If u want u can install a pick up on it
If u add pickup it would alter the acoustic sound but do it if you really want to.
is this for lefties
yes, I just got one.
@@paulf2534 thank you sir! I am from sri lanka
@@neranjananayanajith1420 Hopefully they are available there. If not your local Yamaha dealer should be able to get one sent in.

Which is best fg800 or fg820?
jabir ahmed Fg820 is more expensive but they both have their own charms.

In my opinion, the 820 is the better value. If you worry about a few bucks, maybe a mouth organ will be a better choice!
Your intro scarred the fk outta me holy sht
karma police xD
The intro and outro sound is...ugh.
