DASH CAM: High-speed police chase ends in crash

- Newly released dash camera and body camera footage show Ohio State Highway Patrol units pursuing a reportedly stolen white Hyundai across Warren and Butler Counties before it T-boned a truck at the corner of Millikin Road and State Route 747 in early February.
He turned his lights off... That should be a MINIMUM 5 years on its own.
I don't care why you are running, when you INTENTIONALLY turn your lights off then you are raising the threat level for everyone on the road. People ahead of you cannot see you and may hit you trying to avoid the police.
Also... Crimes like this should NEVER be pled down...
You should face every single charge.
On a side note, this is why insurance is so high….. high speed evading should be a 10 year minimum sentence
Move to Wisconsin and you'll get probation.
It's a felony in Arkansas.
Insurance doesn’t cover any damage that happens during the commission of a crime. It’s in the fine print.
@@reallybadaim118 and if you don't like getting pitted at 140 mph - stay out of Arkansas
BLM 😂😂😂😂
I don't know how the cops do such a good job keeping their eye on the ball like that. Kudos to them.
Especially when prosecutors reduce the charges from felony to misdemeanor and a signature bond or ROR. It’s just a revolving door. That door needs to be shut, lock, and the key thrown away. I never did hear how the people in the truck were. I hope okay.
Found the boot licker.
@@a.downing2791Wrong...
States need to pass MUCH tougher laws for these ridiculous high speed chases that endanger lives worse than a loaded gun. Cars become lethal weapons and should be treated as such.
The technology exist today, and has existed for well over a decade that would make these a thing of the past. If they implemented it your car will not be able to travel very much over the speed limit on any given road. Check out your map on your phone. It shows you your speed and you can enable it to show the speed limit of the road you're traveling on. You can require all cars sold by a given date to be equipped with it. And LE can have a means to turn off your car with it. But then the traffic revenue generating cities would be worse off financially since they cannot drive revenue. Whole sections of law enforcement staff dedicated to speed enforcement would disappear. It would have a very big impact.
It's very true that an operator can use motor vehicles as a lethal weapon.
Hmm. Worse than a loaded gun? I agree.
You're blaming someone other than the violator/criminal for these situations.
Due to the weight, lethality, potential, I certainly hope you support banning motor vehicles. After all, motor vehicle use / ownership isn't in a Constitutional Amendment.
Fewer motor vehicles & stricter laws would result in fewer motor vehicle operators using them as lethal weapons.
@@reallybadaim118 You are quite correct there are technological tools that could be used to stop this kind of thing. Another way is to change laws such that people lose their driver's license permanently for high speed chases and doing so has FELONY consequences... not just a slap on the wrist and an ankle bracelet!
@@VaHKGuy I see you're being a bit snarky but you're correct, and no I'm not suggesting to ban motor vehicles nor did I ever suggest banning guns. The point is to change the system to put an end to this type of crime. In my search I found few to no other countries that have this type of problem... probably because they do more than a slap on the wrist for vehicular mayhem on the streets of their communities.
@@mnn1265 Unfortunately people still drive without a drivers license. These people have no respect for laws, or just plain doing the right thing. Laws can be made, there are always people that just don't care. SAD
In Cleveland these idiots know they arent allowed to pursue them so they taunt them...go by them doing 100mph and play chicken with them and CPD cant do nothing...Then tho these ppl are only charged with fleeing and they arent given much time...need to make this a felony and automatic time in jail because Its becoming a huge problem!
This was the OHP, the city won't either.
Different States have Different Penalties, but MOST have made this is FELONY FLEEING! Jail time for sure and a rap sheet to follow you around for the rest of their natural lives! ! ! Best Case of FAFO, I've seen in quite awhile!!!
I wish states would pass laws that make it mandatory 5 years for running, this offense is not able to be plead out, nor the sentence reduced. Instead of passing dumb laws.
I find 10 years would be apt to the offence.
I'm a bit less tolerant of these "runners." 10 years minimum for running. Then again, we let people who've been convicted of or being charged with fraud, sexual assault, and espionage, run for POTUS. Go figure.
I also wish they would train people a little better to give the same commands or to know witch unit is in charge and have them issue orders. I do understand of stressful those situations can be for officers and that things are never always black and wight. It has always bugged me that so many are shouting orders causing confusion.
@@sailorgerard 5 years first offense, 10 years second offense, 15 years third offense, etc. would be better.
There seems to be a whole lot of this happening now, everywhere, even in my rural city, they just dont
get it.
ASP, GSP and FHP would’ve stopped this chase in 2 minutes.
Arkansas State Patrol diffently don't play around.
Really. Easy to be A Monday morning quarterback
Right. ASP are truly the best... coming from a law and order state!
The California police would still be chasing them to this day.
Give ASP a call, see if Trooper Bird can conduct some onsite training?
There are many more than Bird down there who can do it. He became a youtube legend but there are several just as quick as him.
call FHP they will gladly give some classes...
Byrd... And he's not the best. Plenty more who can do the job.
@@leonblittle226 There are certainly some as good as Byrd, but I saw a video yesterday where he went straight from the on ramp, crossed all lanes of traffic and did a TVI on a car in the inside lane. He almost gently guided the car off the highway and down a steep embankment without making the car flip. Of all the TVIs (aka PITs) I have seen by anyone anywhere, this was by far the smoothest and most efficient imaginable for such an inherently dangerous maneuver. I had to watch it several times.
Seems he has been doing a lot of training, both Georgia, and here in Florida. Florida even has new cars with a FULL-width bumper guard, specifically designed for Pitting.
🚗😁‼️
those 2 should never see another day of freedom.
life is a lil much i feel like 10-15 yes they did hit someone but if you think about it that can happen even when some is not running from the cops
Respect for all law enforcement officers. They put their lives on the line every day😊 they go to work.
The fak they do. It's just a job.
The whole point of a chase is to END the chase. Not prolong it, putting countless civilians at risk.
But first, you must be in a position to END the chase. Slowly but surely. And most of the time, surely as it is the morons that can't drive at top speed. It's on them.
@@pierrebibeau9861 Except this chase certainly wasn't ended safely. It ended because eventually someone will be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Like too many, innocent people suffered.
@@hydrocarbon8272 But people may suffer more if we end the pursuit and the suspect repeats it until more innocent people suffer. Letting them free by judges is not the solution. The laws need to be changed for them not to repeat it. More strenuous jail time is due.
@@hydrocarbon8272 which is why, it should be a deadly force encounter and cops allowed to stop it by any means.
Exactly the cops are egotistical and don’t want to lose a chase and are willing to kill for it. Disgusting
Hopefully this guy gets a no-nonsense Prosecutor who isn't looking for the easy plea bargain so they can put another mark down in their won-loss column, and a no-nonsense judge who takes these cases seriously but both these type of individuals seem to be in short supply.
If you flee police in a vehicle and crash and cause injury it should be 10 yrs prison.
20 yrs. Could of been my son he wrecked into.
There was this great accessory invented back in 900 AD called a belt...
Pursing officer sure got behind. Perps, it hurts. Officer oh well.
It's the pants-hanging-down gang.
"Home Boys" always ready to bend over....LOL.
A non white male with his pants down. Rare.
rare as candies in a candy shop
Didn't you know? The use of belt is prohibited in that community. They rather have their pants below their a$$ :)
LOL Thanks!
If you only pull your pants HALFWAY UP...then to remove you only have to push them HALFWAY DOWN...EZ FOR ALL
Why the 2 heathens moaning like that? Were they hurt in the crash poor things. No other Police Agency in the country can do pit maneuvers and end in car chase in less then 5-15 minutes than FHP, GSP and ASP. CHIP takes a whole day into the night to stop a stolen vehicle.
Stolen car? Driver doesn't care about what happens to it. So chases are common.
Arrested? Charges against Driver of Stolen car will be pled down to probation/small cash fine.
Owner of the car will face a wrecked car, a TON of Inconveniences and increased Insurance premiums.
Owner of the car ends up with more Punishment than the car thieves.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
Give ASP a call, see if Trooper Byrd can conduct some onsite training?
Yes sir, it is one of the best.
I was totally shocked when they started dragging people out of the car. That was really uncalled for, because they were scared and couldn't breathe.

Why is that the quietest police cruiser I've heard?
your question doesnt make sense... what are you asking...
@@x...CrankyOldMan...x I’m asking why the police car is so quiet but it’s more like a statement of amazement.
@@jobbins008 understood .. thank you
Evidently the police need to add some 4 cylinder Korean cars to their fleet. The Dodge Hemis could barely keep up.
To be fair, it's a Tesla they were chasing. Not the slowest car on the road by any means.
@@massey4businessREAD THE GODDAMN DESCRIPTION! I knew it was a Hyundai Elantra or Sonata without even reading it!
if i was the one who got hit and i watched this video of prolonged chase, i would sue OHP for not pitting him right away.
Well, that might actually get them to change a no pit policy.
Ahhh!!! Ahhh!!! My stomach!!! Hahahaha😂😂😂😂
The crap these officers go through is outlandish 😮
OHP is so far behind they look like they are chasing a ghost. Give it up call ASP.
I was thinking the same thing.
Or we could just take cops of the street completely since we're blaming police and not the offenders for everything dangerous going on in the world. If you share the opinion of this person, never call 911.
I think the chaser was using the car in front to make it was safe for him to also blow the same red light..
So painful for the truck driver he hit, but this is a wake up call for all of us, don't faze-out when going through an intersection, look both
ways because this is what can happen. He's lucky to be alive.
Oh well shouldn't run
Oh I'm sorry does it hurt?
Play stupid games win stupid prizes...ppl thinking its all fun and games running from the cops and putting others in harms way due to their ignorance!!
Get used to that position boys

Unfortunately OHP troopers are hamstrung by the agency’s pursuit policies.
derived from lawsuit results in California courts, sadly.
How bout that chicken hauler at the beginning 💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡
"Trailing back" = means " i can't see them anymore but ill keep going"
But they found them!
Anyone know what kind of car was being chased, seems like it had some get up and go, trooper seemed to have a are time just keeping up with him.
Tesla
He was just testing for the Coca Cola 600 Nascar RACE.
Isn’t this foreseeable negligence? Isn’t a vehicle a deadly weapon especially at these speeds? A wanton disregard for our lives… reckless endangerment…? A menace to society…
Maybe a federal law so all states would be the same and it could be tried in Federal Court and mandatory Federal minimum sentence.
FELONY FLEEING! Jail time for sure and a rap sheet to follow you around for the rest of their natural lives! ! !
They didnt learn them pits and they are waiting until fleeing car hit other car at the intersection?
I hope the person/ people in the truck he T boned is OK. All that moaning as they were getting pulled out of the car certainly didn't make me feel sorry for them.
When you do these high speed pursuits in cities this is the result. Innocent people hurt and killed.
No pursuit or TVI policy this is whats going to happen.
Is the no belt droopy pants really still a thing?😕
what does OHP use for cruisers? Chevy Chevette? Pinto? Pacer? seems like super slow cop cars.
Looks like they've adopted Priuses, or is it Prii?
The lead trooper appeared to be in a Tahoe. The followers in Chargers.
I think it was a Smart Car.
State needs drastically to train troopers how to TVI, pursuit techniques, and authorize the use of TVI's. Get it stopped before this happens.
That was like watching paint dry - ASP would have ended that a long time ago
I wish they could show the speed limit the officers are driving. Would make these videos so much better. I question these extreme high speed chases for a stolen vehicle. The person is not going to get their car back in one piece as it usually ends in a TVI or crash, so what's the point in putting innocent lives in danger who have nothing to do with it?
Twenty lashes then Twenty years!
This part of Ohio has never been beautiful in my lifetime, BUT it seems to have achieved a new level of ugly!
Are OSHP cars speed limited? The perps car seemed pretty Tesla like, hard to believe it was a Hyundai.
again, its a much lighter car, so he had the advantage in the turns, but flat out the trooper cough him pretty quick
Now if this would've disengaged in this chase, those people would've never been hit by the runaway car. But nope these egomaniac cops just can't let it go even when it means to putting other innocent civilians at risk
I've had an invention for a decade that stops these chases by 90 %...
I had a pickup with stolen trailer come across highway in Fox Creek alberta . Thankfully i got to shake the Hand of the R.c.m.p. that didn't chase him ..
Like that cop said , " A 20 year old ford an a utility trailer aren't worth the chase .
Fatalities? Throw us a bone.

Each Mile Should A Count. So If He Went For Example 15 Miles Being Pursued By Police, It Would Be 15 Counts Of Reckless Driving & 15 Counts Of Endangering The Public
They will tell everyone they know, that they were a couple of good ole boys out joy riding and did not realize they were driving that fast. Mean Ole Troopers spoiled their fun!
I THINK NOT, said anyone with half a brain ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Yo fellas! Y’all know the Arkansas State police has a RUclips channel right? Go watch some how to , cause uhhh….. they do it better!
Driver went to the hospital with serious injuries...some of that may have been caused by moving the injured person. I understand he is a criminal, but he is also a person. You see his hands, cuff him, let ems/fire remove him. Innocent until proven guilty right?
He still has his burglary gloves on. Always the same damn people everytime.
Professional thieves they are.
Granny dispatcher sounds like she just took her sleeping pill.
Rude
overly aggressive cops-just looking to beat on him regardless of punctured lung
It's pretty bad when your chasing someone that they can leave you in the dust because your patrol car is slow.
not slow, its just heavy... his car is about 1000lb lighter. so yes in turns he had the advantage, but flat out the trooper was keeping up.
Judging by the engine sound, this is a V6 Dodge Charger
They will eventually have electric police cruisers lol
It's pretty bad when you don't know the difference between *your* and *you're*.
Yelling like a rooster 🐔
At least the guy is blinking his lane changes
Absurdly too long
I just went to renew my insurance on a 25 year old vehicle, the insurance DOUBLED since 2 years ago... 🤯 No thanks 🤬 I'm not paying for this crap
how much per year...?
@@x...CrankyOldMan...x was $53 per month... now $117
I’m selling my car because the insurance is ridiculous. I haven’t had any accidents, no tickets, not even parking tickets. I have a ‘22 hybrid toyota and my insurance is about $2400 a year. I’ll get an e-bike. It may take longer to get around, I won’t be able to carry many groceries, but I’ll save a hell of a lot of money. Even though there are a lot of thefts, accidents, etc., insurance companies are still making record profits. If insurance was more affordable for everyone, then fewer people would be without insurance. Greedy insurance companies wreak just as much havoc as these idiots running from cops.
@@a.downing2791 what state.... ?
How the Officers keep sight of the suspect vehicle while driving at those speeds is beyond me!

I would be ashamed if I couldn't catch that little car! Pitiful.
Apparently, yall play follow the leader!
WHY does OHP seem to be so dang timid. Get up there and PIT him damit. Come on Pokey.
WHY does rls think he can do a job from his couch better than OSP? Go apply
OSP is hamstrung based upon pursuit policy. Notice their cruisers are not equipped with push-bars (aka, PIT bumpers).
The chaser officer was using the car in front blowing how many red lights to be sure it was safe for him to follow ..
I praise the police officers who have to make pursuits as they always succeed. Suspects should be jailed for 5-10 years at the least as suggested by a comment. For all the damages caused by these suspects.
Boring to watch this .
They were late for engineering school.
Ohio are stupid for not having push bars on their cars. It makes them at risk of being rammed and disabled plus they cannot perform PIT at any speed without body damage. That said I wonder if the performance of the cars is greatly enhanced by not being so nose heavy, as ohio charges seem to have much less understeer than others like ASP.
Cannot believe he pursued at triple digit speed with out at least emergency lights. If someone merged in front of him he would be prosecuted. Very unprofessional.
The same hood people.... as usual. It's a real pity that, with glorious exceptions, most bandits drive better than troopers.
Yep, usual idiots, what else to expect? When I saw that car swerving from lane to lane I knew I would not be disappointed.
High speed police chase : outlaw it ,vehicles are like humongous weapons on wheels 😮😢
Nope. Allow cops to pit at any speed. Allow cops to treat this like merder and react accordingly
Outlaw criminals,problem solved?😂😂😂
Listen to the big losers crying. Boo hoo hoo.
The dude wasn't trying to hit the troopers car. He was trying to PIT him. Perfectly legal move, so say the police. 😉
Grow up you dip💩
I don't know why all you commenters telling the police to pit him you cannot do that at that high speed that is too dangerous and I've heard and I don't know if it's true they don't like to be petting somebody over 35 mph and I heard that from news helicopter chases
ASP doesn't care about the speed, they pit!
watch more state trooper videos, Georgia & Arkansas don't mess around, they pit at any speed, including triple digits
You need to watch more pursuit videos. Other states, particularly Arkansas, Georgia, and Florida, PIT at all speeds. Their policy is to end the chase as soon as possible to prevent exactly what you see in this video… an innocent nearly killed in a t-bone accident.
Are you from California? That's one place that has ridiculous speed requirements for pitting. They're afraid of too many lawsuits from the litigious public.
Incorrect 😂
Police trainers should talk to a psychologist about fight or flight mode and how screaming at people affects them..
It's very counter-productive, and actually dangerous.
I'm sure you and your keyboard could of done better had you been there!
I think it's meant to assert the seriousness of the situation as well as to be heard.
They're asking to see the hands because some perpetrators brandish firearms and start shooting when cornered.
I’m sorry that people didn’t get your pronouns right all your life. Hope you sent your psychiatrist a birthday card last year. Continue with your soy diet, it works !!!!
WRONG
Cop screaming like he’s at Parris Island with 20 new recruits at midnight. What the fine officer fails to realize is that this car was just an involved in a high speed collision with high potential for traumatic injuries. The driver is more than likely stunned, injured and/or under the influence of some combination there of.
While not dismissive of the drivers actions leading up to the crash, yelling by commands at this person is probably not the most conducive thing to do at this point. I’m sure the officer has a huge surge of adrenaline he needs to dump, however he needs to calm down and take control of his emotions.
Bwahahaha!!
rapman5791 facts
Brutality at its best when these guys are almost dead and can't move a limb unbelievable
I've seen wrecks worse than that where people pop out like nothing happened with a 🔫 in hand, now knowing that it was a stolen car, after an extremely long, dangerous, high speed chase, were the officers just supposed to stand there waiting to see what they do next and take the chance that they don't make it home, or secure the nice young men, making certain that they don't hurt anyone else?
Congratulations!! Dumbest comment of the day!!😂
maybe they were injured from crash. screaming at them will do nothing. a jerking them out was irresponsible maybe hurting them more. they need anger management classes. poor cops
They chose to run so if they got hurt it is on them. No need to play nursemaids to them. Get them out and secured so they don't hurt someone. Then you can check for injuries. This running must be dealt with harshly.
Okay honey, it's called consequences. Should they have given them water and talked to them like they were their kids? No. They're going to jail... They could've had guns on them. Shut up.

Bravo bravo bravooooo
Yanking on people immediately after a major high speed crash (regardless of what they have done) isn’t very smart especially doing it to innocent passengers. The driver is the guilty one not the passengers. These cops have such tunnel vision and anger as if it’s personal. The passengers injuries if made worse by the cops use of unnecessary force will make that person very rich from the taxpayers of that state… yelling get your hands up after a crash like that was just retarded…
Too bad, let those bad kids learn some extra painful life lessons, I don't want the officers to risk their own safety when considering how some bad guys are all doped out & have nothing to lose & want to hurt police before their trip to jail or as a way to end their own lives etc😢
I'd have the least caution on the driver of the car being chased. So many times, these clowns have killed, maimed, or cause trauma to the innocent victims they've crashed into. It might be the only pain they receive because the courts just release them to do it again.
