Johnny's talent was amazing. Here I am in 2021, sad with the current state of affairs in America as well as a few personal things, and these people, including, Ed, Doc, Freddy and the entire production staff can bring so much comfort to me and others, decades later. Thank You All!

Hey z20000z, are things looking up for you quite yet, regarding the personal things? I seriously hope so. I'm just discovering Mr. Carson [I grew up without having him on the tele], and he is QUITE good! I wonder, was he a writer for the show? Or is his talent mainly his stage presence and hosting performance? Seems amazing either way, wish we had him back in the limelight. Anyway, I just wanted to quickly reach out. Have a wonderful day, my friend.

      @@npcrah Hi npcrah,
Thank you so much for taking the time for the kind wishes and comments!
I am doing well and am pretty much a blessed person who, like everyone else, gets into a funk once in a while, so turning to something familiar and nostalgic and getting some laughs is good medicine. This is where Johnny Carson comes in.
I know that he did write some of his own jokes, but had a writing staff. Johnny also wrote material for Jack Benny and Red Skelton (I think) when he was just starting out. Here are two great documentaries on Johnny: This one is an overview of his entire life and career; ruclips.net/video/ErMjiW7xsFk/видео.html
and this one is about how the show is produced and his impending retirement:
      ruclips.net/video/NSDcQkpb9sE/видео.html
I hope that you are doing well yourself and thanks again for asking! Blessings to you!

Anyone who is 'bashing' her for wearing leather and looking all sexy can all shut the hell up. If you can look that good at 60, I say GO FOR IT.... I'm 51, and you 'youngins' have no idea how quickly time goes by and how all of a sudden you'll wake up one day and be 40 or 50 or 60, yet you'll still feel like the same vital, fun person you always were..... remember, it's EASY to look amazing at 25, but if you can look THIS GOOD at 60....... you are amazing!

I was a medical AIDs warrior in San Francisco during the epidemic Elizabeth Taylor was a God Send. Little known fact, Ms Taylor would just show up at the AIDs ward at SF General. Unannounced no fanfare. I would get calls at my office saying 'SHEs here'. I would always go to the ward to meet her (who wouldn't?). One visit she held my arm and said 'Sweetheart you should be taking care of people that need you, NOT Elizabeth Taylor'. She then promised to always call me before she showed up, and come to my office first. She always did. My 'PA' was trembling the first time when she called me on the intercom, 'Ah Ah UM Elizabeth Taylor is here to see you' (LOL) An Incredible humanitarian, kind, and funny as hell. She did not take being 'Elizabeth Taylor' seriously. I took the Elizabeth Taylor I knew very, very seriously...

Listen, when you meet someone like Elvis Presley which I did not meet but I did see in concert twice 1975 and 1976 twenty rows back from stage level,…you see them for a sustained amount of time. I also heard him sing without accompaniment “Amazing Grace” multiple times in 1975 and “How Great Thou Art” multiple times in 1976 and he sounded exactly like his records. He was not well. It was obvious that he was not well but his voice was 110%. Both years he gave a fantastic concert to his fans and I will never forget it or him! My college professor discussed Elvis Presley’s voice and his range, his natural talent, etc. He also did the same thing with with Barbra Streisand’s voice. I finally got to see her in concert in NY after I got married the second time. I have been a fan of her’s for years, too. I can tell you that not all of her songs sounded the same as her records but nothing can diminish her talent! My father met Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, Carole Lambord…Clark Gable’s wife during the war and had his picture taken with them. The were beautiful women, period. I told you my brother and I met Elizabeth Taylor riding her purple Harley in the mountains in Denver, CO. She was with one of her son’s and Malcolm Forbes and friends. She was a little tiny thing and strikingly beautiful. Her eyes were purplish/cobalt blue. You definitely noticed them. And I do not feel like I have to convince anyone. I met her and she was very nice and down to earth.

The great thing about a Carson interview is that he gave the stars a chance to have fun - rather than forced them to talk about difficult issues. In his best interviews, he allowed them to effervesce and be at their best. This interview with Elizabeth Taylor allows Elizabeth to relax and be charming - while not giving away anything more than she feels comfortable giving away. She was an extraordinary beauty with grace and class, something that most women in Hollywood today don't have. She was feminine, graceful, and oozed charm: she had the "It" factor in spades. "Old Hollywood" had many downsides, but one thing they got right was creating movie stars. People back then did the same dirt as celebs today, but they didn't air their dirty laundry. This world will never have another Elizabeth Taylor and rightfully so: she was an original that couldn't be duplicated.

I'll add a short conversation I had with her upon the first time I met her. We exchanged pleasantries and she extended her hand, as I took her hand my eyes locked with hers it was as if the rest of the world faded away and all that existed were those beautiful eyes that somehow would catch any available lighting and reflect it outwards with twice the radiance. In that instant I understood the power over men she commanded.
An involuntary, and yes audible gasp came from somewhere inside me. Her hand still politely in mine tightened it's grip ever so slightly as her gaze was now fully fixated upon me with a demur smile as she waited for an explanation of my awkward gasp. I'm sure you hear this all the time but I've never seen such stunningly beautiful colors captured within anyone's eye's ever before. Her smile widened as she let go of my hand and said, 'Yes, I do but rarely with as much eloquence thank you.' Then she stopped and motioned for me to come closer as I'm 6' and she was much shorter, she whispered, 'It never gets old' and gave me a quick wink.
I worked for MGM in a management position that often required interaction with every star and famous person one usually only reads about. While all are memorable in their own right whether for good, or bad, clearly there were a special few that were indeed stars in every sense of the word and she was and will be at the top of that list.

true, people critizising her look with leather don't consider it was 1992, obviously they haven't a clue how to look at things in a historical context, not the sharpest knives in the kitchen drawer.

@cubomania3 and interestingly enough, middle aged and older adults also seem to be dumber these days, it's not just the younger generation. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE is hurried, distracted and inconsiderate these days. just saying

@cubomania3 Nah, people in my country actually have to get an education these days. I'd say the kids of the 60s and 70s were far dumber than the ones today.

@Alain Quartermaine Oh brother...did you ever give thought to that she just wore what she felt like wearing from her wardrobe? lol As if you're able to say anything about her since you & her did not know each other...lol.

They were still info- mercials for the star performers at Vegas or some night club or a movie but well disguised. Fallon and Leno had no personality, and never learned how to disguise it.

She was the most beautiful woman in the world. Was beautiful all her life. As for those gorgeous eyes, above stunning ! More importantly she was beautiful on the inside. Always took time for her fans. Extremely caring of everyone. She did so much charity work, used her star power for good causes. What a wonderful lady she was.
