On Ceremony's third album, the Cali quintet brings a style of punk that hasn't been done this well in years. The classic sounds of Circle Jerks and Black Flag are reborn and played in such a way that transcends nostalgia. This music is here and this music is now.

FAV TRACKS: SICK, MOVING PRINCIPLE, ALL THE TIME, THE DOLDRUMS
Great album. It's nice to hear the classic hardcore sound in 2010.
@theboykrishna Yeah, this kind of music has a long history, that's true. There are probably lots of records with this type of music. My argument is basically that in this case, it's done really well, which is surprising considering that it's so new. If you're deep into hardcore, it should be a breath of fresh air, that's all. :-)
This review was extremely helpful. I appreciated all the comments, especially the comparisons to other bands. Since I recently started reviewing music, I was very encouraged to see that you take a lot of the same approach I take when I listen to an album. But at the same time, I certainly learned a whole bunch more about writing reviews from watching this video. Thanks so much! I'll be checking you out more often. :)
You've come a long way melon man x
You should review some Orchid, despite the fact they've been broken up for a decade. Just a random request. Great review, by the way, from one record nerd to another.

I never would have guessed this to be a hardcore punk record based on the cover, will definitely check this out. You, by the way, are awesome Ant.
@eggplantboy7 Yeah. Cap'n Crunch to be exact.
@TrkyLym I know, right!?
i love hearing people who arent from west county trying to pronounce the name of this album.
@Huntard666 Good things or bad things?
@HATECREWrulz123 I know, right!?
@hzthereaper I'm not a hardcore fan, but I watched the games leading up to their win last year, which was exciting as hell to watch. Football & soccer are pretty much the only sports I enjoy watching. Hockey and basketball ain't bad, too.
Oh Melon. You are so cute here.
@Samodrei fix'd!
violence violence was one of the hardest album's i'd ever heard... it ought to be interesting to hear this.
Great review, although I would have to disagree that it sounds like nothing new! It's the perfect blend of old school punk and newer age hardcore! No one has this sound. Even on their previous albums, they still sounded different from the entire hardcore scene. I gotta see ceremony again.
Aww melon so young here. But also review more punk shit ya lovely goof of a human :’)
Definitely hear the Black Flag. It's good to see a punk album show up on your radar though, sir. I pretty much agree that it's a good modern take on some classic sounds.
Thanks for the recommendation you have introduced me to a whole new sound and I LOVE it.
I am not a fan of the album (just style and taste, not the performance) but this is a great review, man. Specifically, I liked how you focused on the dynamics of the album, rather than just how the individual tracks play.
This LP is soo rad!
Best live band
Awesome review. I enjoyed this more than your latest reviews, oddly. Maybe because it is this short? Anyway, thanks for making these. Peace.
great album, great band. i actually saw them in Atlanta on the day you made this video. one of the best live performances i've seen
Thanks for putting me onto some really great punk music. Its all well and good wading through the music of yore but its nice to hear something modern even if it doesn't do much different from those old classic records.
@MonMccool123 Bwahahahaha.
@jenyouwhine Bwahahahahahaha.
This is something you will play at a school dance just to scare everyone, lol. This is awesome, I can not explain how much I like raw sounding music especially cause this is not poser punk stuff. Now my opinion of a poser is some one who just dresses like a punk just for fashion. Which can be referred to emo also, I hate emo's btw. I think being a punk is not looking different, it is just acting and thinking out of the box.
You should review Zoo!! It's such a change from everything else they've done
it's ROW-nert park
you summed this album up very well
@ghostninja Sorry, man. *shrugs* Pronunciation is subjective. What'cha gunna dew?
Good review. I got into Ceremony like half a year ago and they've failed to disappoint me yet. Also I know someone already went over it by now but it's pronounced "Roh-nert Park"
You may call it Rodent Park if you'd like lol
great album
Not my sound but I had a listen and appreciated what they're up to.
well mixed bass on this shit. I'm prolly gonna pick this up!
Arguably the best west coast punk record of the 21st century.
ceremony can do no wrong
Fuck yeah! This makes me feel like I'm in High School all over again!!
Oh shit it’s the dude from Insta / Tiktok!
@Rumistatt agree totally
Rohnert Park is my favorite album Ceremony's put out
different from their previous stuff and not as obnoxious, not that that's a bad thing
@cristoinhumano i SHOULD ask yaksniffer. i gotta see if that dude is on skype!
You should review the new Interpol single Barricade, I'm interested to hear what you think after the Lights review.
Thanks for reviewing this one. Cheers
rohnert park sounds hardcore (the park i mean, but the album is pretty badass too ^^) my fav tracks are sick, back in '84 and don't touch me
@martyrofevil Water. Gotta wash my face before a review, man.
Damn Cal Chuchesta, keep turning the lights off.
All I can comment on this is RAWWWWWR!!!!!
nice dude. i still live in "Ron-nerd". and i'm pretty sure its not said that way.
lol the thing with the Minor Threat album was awesome XD
I'm not in to Ceremony why?
Because I've always thought there like a watered down version of Crossed Out or most of the Power Violence bands for that matter, and there is a lot of good modern punk like Limp Wrist or Trap Them, just ask Yaksniffer ; ).
You posted this vid a while ago, and you probably don't care anymore if you're pronouncing it right, but it's pronounced row-nurt, as in rowing a boat. Keep up the sick vids man.
Roe-nert park is the pronunciation
Great album, do you have last.fm Mr.Needledrop?
Sounds good, thanks for this one.
@theneedledrop i'm just informing you. its just one of those pet peeves. i actually passed that house on the cover today too. its just something i think about a lot. don't ask why. but i probably said "rohnert park" 200 times today. its just one of those things.
Wake the "Goodspeed You! Black Emperor!" up!
by the way, which bands were you referring to when you mentioned crappy/mediocre modern punk?? Surely not Sum 41, Blink 182, or Good Charlotte!!! lol.
great review for a great album
FEIST!
you should check out Diarrhea Planet's EP, "Aloha!" I think you would dig it.
thumbs up if anyone out there agrees that despite being loud, rebellious, in-your-face, etc., punk rock is actually a very strange genre and a lot of punk songs are surprisingly mysterious when it comes to lyrics.
You pronounce it Row-nert parki live there.
good modern punk? Good modern ANGRY punk?!?! YAY!!!!
cryptic slaughter convicted
Sorry for commenting so much, but what's wrong with Slint?
H8TAZ GONNA H8...i hear ya pal. - you should have heard my facebook friends when i uploaded 'round and round' by AP.

I want you to review more punk
people here also call it. murder park, yogurt park, ropo,rodent puke, me and my friends call it the murder scene. lol
i love ceremony. i just can't pinpoint why i hate rohnert park. so many things to not like so little time.
RAW
you got something on your shirt.
Review Slapshot-Step On It.
Lawless Darkness review maybe? :]
It's actually pronounced like ROW-NERT Park, the way you pronounced it, never thought I'd hear it said that way lol but its cool, I've lived here for years. I actually know where most of the band members live.
I happen to think the album was fuckin' awesome, pre ordered the shit and got Ross' book Society Verse and loved it.
This album is a force to be reckoned with in the hardcore punk genre.

You mentioned Slint, but you forgot to say why you hate them.
Haha, jk.
Saints stink GOOOOOO falcons
Punk is pretty much dead today...it's good that every once and a while bands like Ceremony know what real punk is and play it. Thanks for the review Anthony!
