Let me explain why Taoism doesn't look as good as it should because Taoism is about following the heart, not preaching, and I suggest you go to a Taoist temple next time
As a religion, Taoism is not aggressive in any way and rarely preaches. This is related to the spirit of Taoism. As a set of philosophical thoughts, Taoism also affects the way Chinese people look at the world and problems. If you look at the Tai Chi diagram, there is not only yin and yang, but also yang within yin and yin within yang. Yin and Yang can be opposites, complementary, or compatible. Everything must comply with the laws, the laws of the universe, the laws of nature, and the laws of man.
It may be a bit interesting. But Taoism is not a non-aggressive religion. On the contrary, in Chinese history, Taoism has been a very aggressive religion. Unlike other religions that always rely on secular power and then launch wars, Taoism itself is part of and the cause of war. Taoism is a very realistic and practical religion, so it is difficult for secular power to like it, because secular power has no use for it to confuse the people. True Taoism: The ruler summoned the national army to battle with the Taoist rebels. As a modern Chinese, I only like Taoism. Other religions either confuse people, lure or threaten people with the so-called heaven and hell, or defraud people of their money.
I'm always so impressed by your profound sensitivity, respect and connection with the spiritual centers you've encountered in your travels. One was your visit to Varanasi and how it moved you, and now it's this visit to the Chinese sacred mountain. Thanks again for your generosity in allowing us to travel vicariously with you. Your videos have gotten me through some very tough times, and I'm grateful for your sharing your journeys.
There are some hermits in Qingcheng Mountain. They stay away from the crowds and avoid the tourist routes. They live in another mountain nearby, which is very quiet and airy and has a wide view. They will practice self-cultivation, but also accept students, and teach students some ancient knowledge that science can not explain and profound, including breathing methods and martial arts, but in fact, those are just to maintain health and longevity, the real traditional knowledge includes alchemy, incantation, ancient mathematics, ancient astronomy, divination, traditional Chinese medicine, music, art, calligraphy, and some other ways“道” to communicate with the "天".It is said that at some point they finally achieve an Epiphany and after several "劫" they will step on the clouds and become "神仙".
Do you see how all the things in your days that seemed to be keeping you from the mountain especially on the day you finally made it there that these “delays” were making it possible for you to be alone there in the end? This is how Universe works for you to get what you want. So beautiful when you see this and feel the gratitude and knowing that Universe loves you. 🙏
This reflection on China is profound, resonating with the idea that the culture and pace of the country offer an authentic experience, very different from the global hustle. The comparison to the beginning of a new era highlights the importance of connecting with places where time seems to flow differently, more calmly, providing a unique perspective. The tip of not following the crowd and visiting during working hours, avoiding breaks, is a great strategy for experiencing China in a more genuine and less touristy way. The inclusion of the thought that happiness is something you fight for every day, like a Taoist practice, perfectly complements this vision. It’s a reminder that peace and joy aren’t found by chance but cultivated daily, often through a silent but steady effort, as Taoism suggests-without struggle, without pain, but with perseverance. This perspective is inspiring and can turn a trip to China into an introspective journey, as well as a cultural one.
It's very difficult to cultivate oneself into a deity. Chinese Taoism has only cultivated dozens of gods who truly comprehend the mysteries of the universe over thousands of years. The god I'm talking about is not like in TV dramas, flying and escaping. But rather, the human primordial spirit, detached from the physical body, ultimately resonates with the frequency of the universe, sees the mysteries of the universe, and ultimately, endures with the universe. There are very few humans who can do it. If you want to cultivate, you must come to the Chinese Taoist Temple. Especially, if you have the opportunity, you must read the written records of Chinese Taoist about cultivation, which are all ancient characters. Even today's Chinese people, few people can really understand the mystery. If you can understand and your mind is not deceived by external material desires, carnal desires, etc., through cultivation, it is possible to successfully cultivate and bring your spiritual essence closer to the universe. In ancient Chinese literature, Taoism has left many records about cultivating in valleys, penetrating the universe, freeing oneself from the physical body, and ultimately achieving eternal existence with the universe. However, because people are different from each other, even if it is a family, father and mother, mother and son, or daughter, they all have different opinions and ways of looking at things, let alone the ancient texts about cultivating oneself that have been passed down from the Chinese Taoist school. Many people may have misinterpreted the original meaning. That's also why many people, even if they see it, fail to cultivate successfully. Human thinking is very complex, and the same thing can lead to different outcomes when viewed by different people. The symbol of Chinese Taoism is Tai Chi, which is the Tai Chi diagram. The Taiji diagram is a symbol of thousands of years. Similar to quantum entanglement, entanglement with each other is also the opposite. The Chinese people only know about Taoism, because most people can't stand the temptation of material, lust, money and so on, so it is difficult to calm down, understand themselves, understand the universe, and understand their relationship with the universe. That's how I lived my life in confusion. Most people are like this.
The back mountain of Qingcheng Mountain actually should be more in line with your imagination of Qingcheng Mountain. There is a relatively primitive hiking route with more natural landscapes, plank roads, streams and original vegetation, but there are few Taoist temples. The back mountain of Qingcheng was where Taoists lived and practiced before, while the front mountain is more about accepting mundane matters. Then, I don't know if you have visited the neighboring city at the foot of Qingcheng Mountain. This city is called Dujiangyan, named directly after the 2,000-year-old water conservancy project in this city. Moreover, this water conservancy project is still in normal use and affects the domestic water supply and planting throughout Chengdu. This project is the oldest, wisest and most complete ancient human project I have ever seen, which is fully in line with the spirit of Taoism. It does not require excessive human intervention. Letting nature take its course can prevent floods and droughts in the Chengdu Plain.
Unlike the popular dualism in the West, the "yin and yang" in Tai Chi are not two opposites, they are a harmonious and unified whole, they are the different phases of everything, but also the only essence of everything, they complement each other, transform each other, and ultimately return to the unity, which is an ancient Chinese philosophy that reveals the essence of the universe.
An Italian guy crying in the rain on one of the most sacred mountains in China, this is the wholesome content we all needed. In times of nonsensical and blatant anti-propaganda by the Western Anglo-Saxon media. Bravo!
In tourist attractions, you can only see ancient buildings. The real hermits are on the nearby mountains, but the roads are difficult to walk on. You will find that the hermits live very simply, with a thatched house and simple daily necessities... But without exception, their bodies are very healthy, of course not muscles, but they look very energetic. They are almost omnipotent and can answer all your questions. Their appearance characteristics are that they never cut their hair and beards, and wear long robes. If you don't take the initiative to talk to them, they will ignore you, because they need more time to learn, think, go to the mountains to collect Chinese herbs, and integrate into nature... I was lucky to stay with them in the mountains for a week. I found that they are really omnipotent. They are very, very comfortable. What they repeat every day: grow their own food, treat their own diseases, meditate, and look up at the stars at night
Please don't be bothered by the crowds, as tranquility and rowdiness, solitary and crowdy, are all part of Ying and Yang and nature. To seek inner peace is Taoism.
Do people not see the hypocrisy of it? Seeking his own feelings of sacrility yet considers crowds as disrespectful, no one else has the right to seek spiritual meaning like him, right? He is far off the path of taoism if he holds things as sacred. Taoism is everywhere and everything, you dont need to go to a temple to be enlightened. And especially you shouldnt view other people as a hinderance, as you vs them.
The front mount of Qingcheng is a touriest site. If you are looking for a religious trip, you can go from the back mount(side) of Qingcheng, there is no tourism facility in back mountain, so you have to walk through the whole trail (from the foot to the top), but the trail is clear, and the view is definitely worth it. You would pass many different Taoism temple on the trail. Many of the Taoism temple provide accomodation for travellers at affordable price. You can live in the middle of mountain for on night, get up in the early morning in th mist, have breakfast with monks. It's really a good experience.
I am so moved by this. I felt the magic when it started raining and the deep emotions you felt when you were finally by yourself in this mystical place. I discovered Taoism during the pandemic and it resonated with me a lot too. I had a lot of self-critical thoughts and trauma, overworking myself beyond exhaustion. Taoism and Buddhism helped me deal with a lot of pain and turn my life around. I wish I could visit this sacred mountain too but as an Indian citizen travelling is not that easy. Something about these misty green mountains always drew me, we also have such places in the north of India and I find immense peace and calling there. A very healing, primal energy. So different from the chaotic and stressful cities. Wish I could live there and never come back ☯️
When I saw you tears in your eyes in the mountain all alone, I was moved by your true feelings for the love of the place. You value the treasures of the Chinese traditional philosophy than many or even most Chinese!
When you spent three days finding the way, took the wrong path, and eventually found the road up the mountain but arrived late, you only felt that it was a natural occurrence without complaints or anger. Instead, you found a lot of inner satisfaction in these seemingly bad situations, such as riding the cable car alone while everyone else descended, and going up the mountain alone. On the way down, you found the inner peace you were seeking. This is what Daoism refers to as the ‘Dao Heart,’ and I am happy for you. Dao follows nature, so we should go with the flow.
I remember that I went to Qingcheng Mountain with my friends in my first year of college. The three of us went up the mountain very late, and it began to rain when we went down the mountain. We were very lack of exercise at that point. I can still remember the feeling that sweat and rain were mixed together and my body was about to collapse. We lay directly in bed for the whole next day. There are not so many Taoists among the Chinese, but the shocking beauty of Qingcheng Mountain will remain in the hearts of all passers-by.
Ancient Buddhist and Taosit Temple in China have rich aura (灵气)These positive energy can remove the negative energy in our body. To achieve this a quiet environment is needed to sit down quietly or meditate. China has a large population so is naturally they have huge number of tourist. There are many more such mountain with high spiritual aura which is not known even to even China local. Those temple highly visited usually is classified as 5A tourist destination. I will be visiting Mount Er Mei and Mount Qing Cheng in November. As a Chinese, I truly feel sacred power and peace in your video. Most people here to tour, but few people here to feel. Nowadays China is fulled with eager for money, and less people really dig into Taoism and its philosophy. I leant stuff from your video. Peace and love.
Your video really touched me. I believe everything happens for a reason. The misunderstanding on the way to Qingcheng gave you the peaceful moment you wanted. That is just like the journey of seeking Tao-not easy, but so beautiful when you achieve it.
Chengdu is my hometown, and I haven't been back in many years. Like you, I also have people anxiety, so I completely resonate with the emotional part you felt at the end of the video. I fully agree with what you mentioned about respecting traditional and religious sites -- and I believe the mountain also listens, feels, and gives. What you here for, what you want from this, were all gently fulfilled in a coincidence way. Just as Laozi said, "祸兮福所倚,福兮祸所伏" If you hadn't persisted in finding Qingcheng Mountain, or if you had arrived on time and caught the tourist rush, or if you hadn't chosen to walk down the mountain, you wouldn't have had that rare moment of peace, spirituality, and personal connection within the experience. I’m glad you enjoyed the trip:)
Thank you for your devout belief and dissemination of Taoist culture. Your understanding of Chinese culture is profound, not superficial. May you always find inner peace.
Hi Gabi, I am deeply moved by your 'spiritual connection' to this Asian philosophy, for a Westerner. I think you are connecting to a previous existence, that is so familiar to your higher consciousness, that feeling is missing in this messed-up world! As a Buddhist, I can feel it too. May you find happiness and blessing from the Universe.
Oh Gabi im so glad I found your videos. I had a best friend we both struggled with depression. He made me promise never to take my life and shortly after he took his. For my whole life I longed to find meaning in any place I could. I will search every corner of the earth to continue to find that feeling. It comes and goes when I find beautiful sacred moments like this. When I read the fifth mountain under heaven I got chills and felt it then and then you got emotional. Then I knew I was meant to find your videos. I think my dear friend sent them to you to remind me to keep searching for the sacred, search at every corner of the earth if I have to. Thank you Gabi.
If you want to find some meaning for life, but regular regions don't feel right to you, you could check Taoism or Buddhism. They don't have those Gods that you should undoubtedly believe and follow.
I am a Chinese, and I also like Chinese traditional culture very much. I am very moved to see your video, and I sincerely wish you find the faith in your heart.
This is fate, you want to see no one's mountain and Taoist temple. The first few days, all kinds of difficulties do not allow you to go. Wait until you go this day it rained, let you see what you wanted to. 🙂
As a local people from Chengdu city(50km from Qingcheng Mnt.), I fully understand your concern and feelings. The nature of the time generate Tao still can be found in these mountains with almost same sunshine, rain, mist, trees and so on, next time you may spend 1 night at the back mountain of Qingcheng, where it is not that developed for tourism, you may find that peace.
What an incredible moment to be able to experience the mountain alone in total quietness and tranquility! It wouldn’t have been the same feeling if all the crowds were there.
I climbed qingcheng mountain when I was 17 when there was not so many tourists, and the quietness and the beauty of the mountain left me with a strong and deep mark which will never leave me. Your video brought back the unforgettable memories to me, and my heart was touched, especially by your tears and words when you saw the engraved text “the path leading to the heaven”. Thanks for an amazing video and your candid sharing! And best wishes for an enjoyable trip in China!
I went to Qingcheng Mountain in 2008. At that time, it wasn't as commercialized as today. It was the most beautiful religious mountain I've ever been to. Thank you for the video and for bringing back my memories.
Dear Gabi, your content is more than just travel vlogging, I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for your insights , and please continue making this type of content 🙏🙏
Another sacred mountain for Taoism in China is wudang mountain. George Thomson has a RUclips channel featuring many spectacular views from wudang. And Wudang mountain seems much less commercialised .
Gabriele, non sei il solo a sentire l'energia di un posto speciale come un tempio sulle montagne cinesi. Si piange per tanti motivi nella vita, ma in fondo sii contento di questo bel viaggio.
His journey dwn Mount Qingcheng alone is very moving and sentimental. He is very much in touch with Taoism. A learned man. Very beautiful in transquility. ❤👍👍
It is your piety and respect for the faith of Taoism, despite the difficulties you experienced before coming to the mountain, such as not finding the place for two days, the noise of tourists when going up the mountain, but you did not complain and have a heart of piety, the Taoist gods appeared and let you realize what you want to see and experience on the way down the mountain. What an amazing experience!
Thank you for sharing your travels with people who are unable to go, hike and enjoy the places you go to. For us who share in your joy, please accept our gratitude.
Taoism is different。☺ Taoist thought pursues inaction and freedom within the rules of heaven and earth. Everything is infinitely transformed in its beginning and its demise. On the day you came, there happened to be a lot of tourists, so it was very lively, which is a good thing. It shows that everyone respects Taoism, believes in Taoism, and thinks it is a good place to go. Taoism enjoys this. The day before, there were no tourists on the mountain, only birds and animals playing, and the mountain breeze was blowing. Everything was natural and beautiful. That was also the time for Taoism to enjoy.
Grazie Gabi per le emozioni che riesci sempre a trasmettere con i tuoi video. Sei una gran bella persona, con un'anima molto profonda e una sensibilità fuori dal comune. Spero che tu stia meglio! Un abbraccio
I am so inspired by your videos. The fact that you allow us to see these fabulous and holy places, the fact that you share your emotional moments so willingly is what puts you apart from the other travel bloggers. God bless you on your continuous journey and for sharing it with is. Rich
Glad you are in Chengdu, China. My wife just took my kids to Chengdu this summer. Their time there may have overlapped your stay. We live in the US and we follow your channel! My kids know your name and they watch with me. Looking forward to more excellent videos ! I sure will tell them that Gabi was in Chengdu as well this summer !
I think there must be something guide you! the taxi get lost first but finally get to the Mount Qingcheng, which lead to a time that most tourists go back and allow you enjoy yourself in this famous Tao place. you don't make a perfect plan before you go, just follow the things going on, but harvest a peaceful trip in the end. what a coincidence, and it just fits the Taoism spirit! And thank for the introduction of Taoism spirit, I am nervous about my job and salary, but after the video, I find that there is nothing need to be nervous about. thank you!
I love your videos and your whole vibe. Your approach to travel is so refreshing as your joy is in making connections with the people and places you go, not merely crossing off destinations from some bucket list. The fact that you were brought to tears being on this sacred mountain says a lot about you as a person and it moved me as well, since I feel the world around me in a similar way. Lastly, I have so much respect for your honesty about struggling with depression and anxiety. This is something that countless people deal with everyday and you are showing them that they can still live a full life full of joy and wonder. So happy I found your channel and I sincerely hope you keep making more videos. Ian from the USA.
That was lucky the taxi lady waited for you. She could have left, thinking that you are not returning to her taxi since everyone has already left and the temple is closed. A beautiful video, and especially seeing you got your wish to be there without the crowds. Now with the information you gained, you can plan another visit better, better timing and transportation.
I have been to China twice and studied their medicine. Miss China. One of the most beautiful places in the world. These temples and their reverence for nature and the almighty energy is amazing. I really miss China.
So, so beautiful documentary! But you are right. It's disheartening to see sacred places, rich with history and spiritual significance, treated merely as tourist attractions. When visitors approach these spaces with a mindset of amusement rather than reverence, they overlook the deep cultural and spiritual meaning they hold. These sites deserve more than just fleeting attention; they call for respect and understanding, honoring the traditions and stories that have shaped them. I felt exactly like you when I visited Mount Putuo, a place I had dreamed of for years. It was meant to be a deeply spiritual experience, a chance to connect with the sacred energy of Bodhisattva Guanyin. Instead, I was met with the disappointing reality of crowds treating this revered site like a mere backdrop for selfies, filled with noise and distraction. It was disheartening to see so few people showing the respect and devotion that such a sacred place deserves, turning what should have been a moment of reflection and reverence into a spectacle of casual disregard.
The main reason is that Buddhism and Taoism are extremely secularized in China, so they instead welcome a large number of tourists to visit and take photos, and tourists are very conscious of not bothering those places where real ascetics practice.
What an odyssey to reach the magnificent M. Qingcheng, in fact Gabi you had to overcome obstacles to experience the magic of the temple in more peace - it was totally worth it ! Woow 😍🙏Thankyou Gabi, breathtaking beautiful, great informations ❣ - i love sacred places as well❤they can give peace and new energy...
Bless you, what happened in the earlier day delayed your trip but lead you to the silent path, and you found inner peace and yin&yang, I think that’s Taoism: causal因果. I’m so touched~ thank you
It’s peacful to hike in a quiet moutain with no crowd, yes. But you will truly understand the Tao when you can maintain a peaful mind in a crowdly city😊
Gabi! What a spectacular and profound video ~ very much in line with my own musings and realisations of late. Moving through the ebbs and flows of life, the Yin & Yang. The urge to escape the noise of society in search of peace and connection to the higher. How amazing that life guided you to the mountain just in time for the rain to wash away the tourists, leaving you with the serenity you so longed for. Deeply moving and very comforting. Thank you for sharing your life adventure, as always. With love, Mikaela
WOW! This is an amazing place. This world would be a more peaceful place if we all practice Taoism. Thanks for taking us along, not many would be able to do this long walk. 💛
Thank you, Gabi. This was perfect. Your heart is open and you followed the path without knowing and were given a priceless gift and you have shared it with us all. Wu wei!
I know why the driver brought you there because that was the back entrance to the mountain where locals go, instead of the front entrance. I lived in Chengdu for 5 years and we always go to the back entrance, because it is free, prettier, quite and peaceful, just exactly what you are looking for!!
Love your kindness Gaby, I really think that you have strong spiritual connection with every sacred place that you visited, please keep your inner spirit alive and you hart open to receive all holly energy that sacred place can give you🙏♥️🫶♥️
Thank you for sharing this video. You have sought out the path and enjoyed the inner spiritual journey. The place has moved you; your video has moved me-harmony between man and nature, nirvana, etc. The teachings of Taoism and Buddhism lead us to self-discovery. We live our lives in the real world, but mindfulness helps us see through the deception and not stray from the path.
Without a language barrier, the first three days were full of difficulties, and even the last day was filled with mistakes. But by chance, you were able to enjoy the tranquility that he had in mind, so you shed tears. So no matter what, what you heard at that moment on that day was very meaningful to you.
You made me cried when I see you cried. It’s the inner peace in our heart and soul we need from time to time. I too would love to find time to tour there.
I feel your tears. That is the real you, the absolute you is the way (道). If you believe in the way and follow it. It will lead you back to the way. You will never feel lost because you and the way are not dual but one. Can you feel it? It is an awakening.
Awesome trip, Gabi! BTW if you're interested in Taoism maybe you've already heard of Wudang mountains? The ancient taoism temples and buildings of Wudang mountains have also been listed UNESCO World Heritage Site and it's definitely worth visiting.😁
Sunday is a public holiday ===> Very busy especially at this tourist Site. If you want to contemplate at this sacred site, go during weekdays and early in the morning or late of the day like you are experiencing now. You May meet A Sage there. I practised Taoism when I was much younger. My son was born in the same year as you. Born in the Year of the Dragon signifies a great year to be born in. Watching your video now I want to go there.
Thank you for sharing Taoism. Well transferred info. I was really undersant Taoism when I was little, but with time goes by, Taoism just gradually make sense to me.

July and August are the summer vacation for students, so tourist attractions all over China are very busy.😆

Why do you cry ? It's because you self realise the Nature of balance, harmony and the value of peace and happiness inside you .
你說的肯定是道教的道長,哈哈哈。道可道,非常道😂
Please don't be bothered by the crowds, as tranquility and rowdiness, solitary and crowdy, are all part of Ying and Yang and nature. To seek inner peace is Taoism.
小隐隐于野,大隐隐于市

Wish I could live there and never come back

You are a very special westerner, Gani, You got a Tao bath in Qingcheng mountain.
When I saw you tears in your eyes in the mountain all alone, I was moved by your true feelings for the love of the place. You value the treasures of the Chinese traditional philosophy than many or even most Chinese!
"大隐隐于市"是一个源自中国古代道家哲学的概念,最早见于汉代东方朔的《据地歌》。这句话的核心思想是,真正的隐士不必隐居在深山老林之中,而是在繁华的都市中依然能够保持内心的宁静和超脱。
This place is beautiful thanks for sharing 🎉 Everything happened so you could get there later and enjoy it😊
I want to visit, hope to soon
Thanks for the video❤ Have a fruitful spiritual journey mate🙏

When walking along those roads, you can imagine how people used to live here and be peace with all the surroundings. It is kind inspiring.
Thanks you so much for this new remarkable video to shows these amazing places in Mount Qingcheng in great joy & peace August of 2024❤❤❤
I agree, great vid
I'd say, you should go check out the mountains yourself if you can. Life is too short.
@@MsWindlee i plan on it! I’m learning Chinese, I hope to visit china many times! 💖
If you want to find some meaning for life, but regular regions don't feel right to you, you could check Taoism or Buddhism. They don't have those Gods that you should undoubtedly believe and follow.

Despite the many obstacles you found what you were looking for. It was lovely to share this with you.
Taoism is different。☺
Taoist thought pursues inaction and freedom within the rules of heaven and earth. That was also the time for Taoism to enjoy.
the way up and down the mountain temple is a great metaphor for the way
I don't why I'm drawn to these places. Playing Black Myth Wukong just makes me want to stay in that mythological world.

You are a follower of the Tao!
