    7. Shining Star- Earth, Wind & Fire
    6. Some Kind of Wonderful- Grand Funk

    4. Before the Next Teardrop Falls- Freddie Fender

      One of these nights is my favorite from this list, followed by Shining star. I wasn't born until 89, so I'm jealous of all the great music back then. And it was popular back then, not like the pop music of today.

Forty seven years later, now I know. It is all annoyingly relative. Also, we had the same two wallpaper swatches, shown in the background of the TV in the vid, at my parents house. Jaws was the first ever summer blockbuster. It released in the summer because of technical difficulties with the mechanical shark.

    These videos are super-interesting and of great quality. It must take allot of time researching and accumulating the era footage, images and sounds. If this series continues to do episodes that go back in time from the first, we would be very fortunate and i for one would feel compelled to support the channel even if we millions only had an extra dollar, these videos are that good. They should be shown in History classes..

  • @jeffreywillstewart
    @jeffreywillstewart 2 года назад +13

    As Tommy was my favorite movie, I've analyzed the era. it was a turning point from where things were natural and earthy and folksy toward a more slick produced era. The moog synthesizer made orchestras for the disco music. Ann-Margret was making the first Vegas super shows. Directors were experimenting with new approaches ( Jaws, Rocky Horror, Tommy , Phantom of the Paradise , Holy Grail). 1975 was a game changer.

    • @TBMartin
      @TBMartin 2 года назад +1

      We if you analysed it as good as you say you did, you would have come to a different conclusion. Most of what you said started in the 60's or earlier

    • @jeffreywillstewart
      @jeffreywillstewart 2 года назад +2

      @@TBMartin well, although Tommy came out in 1968, the movie which was a string of music videos was 1975. Synthesizers were around
      But they could only play notes. The Moog could play chords so it was more orchestral. Vegas shows were big, but Ann-Margrets husband help device multi screen performances and moving platforms ( which is why she fell in 72, when they hadn't worked out the kinks). Jaws was the first summer blockbuster, Rocky Horror the first midnight movie. Tommy, the first musical without choreography, like videos, Phantom , was a glitzy refined psychedelic film. Holy Grail was the first historic absurdist comedy. My point was we started to try to use technology to help polish the arts. The arts existed and the tech existed, we started to integrate them .

    8:14 _"Beta[max] was the first home video format, allowing consumers to record broadcasts or watch pre-packaged movies in their own living rooms."_
    The first home video format was Cartrivision in 1972, which was also the first to feature prerecorded content such as movies. The main difference was that Cartrivision came as part of a console TV set, rather than as a stand-alone unit. Also, while the Cartrivision came with a handheld video cassette recorder for making home movies, I'm not sure whether you could record content directly off the TV, so that might've been another difference between it and the Betamax. The format lasted only a year, which is why it's pretty much forgotten now. The only reason I know of it is because my family had one in the early-to-mid '70s, along with a few movie cassettes to play on it.

    Talk about a forgotten 1975 timeline:
    There was a short lived fantasy, adventure, family tv series that aired September 6, 1975 to Oct 23, 1976. The title of the series meant nothing but coincidentally years later it meant something, it was called "The Secrets of I.s.i.s".
    This series intertwined with another tv series which was ran by the same production company. It was called "Shazam!" and it aired from 1974 - 1977.

    I'll be excited for whatever decade Weird History decides to go over after the 1970s
    But I feel that Weird History should complete the 1970-2020 Timeline Chain with the 2000s & the 2010s before completing the rest of the 1900s

    1975 was also the year soccer began taking the first steps towards becoming a major sport in the US when the greatest soccer player of all time Pele signed with the NY Cosmos on June 10th. Even though the NASL would only last until 1984, the impact it had thanks to Pele on American soccer would eventually lead to the US hosting the 1994 World Cup & the creation of MLS two years later.

    Thank you for including my childhood hero and friend the Legendary Evel Knievel in this look back. Unfortunately Evel is often over looked in pieces like these, shamefully so. In reality Evel should be part of any year from 1967 until 1977. But some is better than none..
