There was NO decade like the '80s. So many reasons why. The music (Ozzy, Def Leppard, Michael Jackson), the sports (Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, 84 Olympics), the politics (Reagan winning 49/50 states, the Berlin wall teardown), the movies (Terminator), etc. There was just no time like it. The eighties ruled. I turned 12 in 1980, so I spent my entire teenage years in the '80s.

Assuming, of course, that there are still people (or even other sentients) to make fun of 2020 :D
True Lopsang. I have lost count of the number of people who are telling me they are keeping journals/scrapbooks for their kids in the future.
@@johnclifford1537 well we have smartphones which we use to record our life everyday
@@discomillennium But you won't have the technology in the future to play it back on. How do you watch videotape from 30 yrs ago now ? Journals and scrapbooks can be passed down.
1984 was the best year for movies !
Most of them are classics
1982!
It was a great time to be alive! A magical time , as I recall . Great music, great movies , great sports events etc ...
1984 I turned 18 and I thought I owned the world! Still miss all of the 80s cant wait to see 1985!!!
Me too. Graduated from high school.
I miss the 80’s so much, I graduated from High School in 1987
"To this day, we're still waiting for our personal jet packs. Not cool." 🤣
😂😂😂😂
😄🤣😁
84 was the year I graduated from high school. I'll never forget one second of it !
You should have included the death of actor Jon-Erik Hexum, who jokingly shot himself with a prop gun on the set of his TV show in October of 1984. Maybe you could do a video about him.
Yeah, I remember Voyagers! because I was little younger than the co-star of the show, and it is important message about gun safety.
God Bless him, I remember that.
I remember that.
I loved Voyagers
I may be wrong but from the photos I saw online he looked like a typical BMW driving douche
Your series of the Timeline: 198# is my favorite going. Having graduated HS in 1988, it's clear why. I look forward to coming year by year videos.
Thank you for putting it in a playlist. I just minimize it in the background and listen to it while at work. Makes time go quick.
My mind has been blowned with the frozen embryo thing, you could be born 25 years after you were officially created. Just wow!
If the egg wasn't fertilized then the child isn't created technically, even then for a while it's just a bunch of cells dividing and multiplying. Pretty amazing either way though, 25 year old egg fertilized by a sperm cell that are two decades separated
Embryo means fertilize egg.
Would love to see a weird history video on the iconic studio 54! Wish I could go back in time to check it out
I graduated from high school in 84’. I had the time of my life in the summer and worked my ass off in the fall during college. What a year👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
did you get your ass back on?
Keep making these! They’re amazing
The year that 80's music had established it's own sound and identity.
1984 has been cited as the greatest year in "Pop" music. So many great songs come from 1984.
@@richardgazinia5482 One of the best years for movies as well.
The whole decade gave quality entertainment
Thomas Alanis synthesizers
i say it started in 1982 and then 83,84 & 85 it really peak. The last 4 years wasn't bad but 83, 84 & 85 was a magic era.
Ty Timeline. So proud to be a part of that generation. I truly miss the 80s!
man you are the only channel on RUclips that i really respect and appreciate - you are actually entertaining and beneficial at the same time informative I mean and I would like to thank you and please continue at the same rate and the great effort you put in
I absolutely love these timelines. Can't wait to see the next video..
I ❤ that you mentioned my favorite book- 1984!
When I think back to the best times in my childhood, nothing beat 1984.
The Cat’s commercial for the seatbelt law in NY was smart
Paul McCartney’s response to getting busted for marijuana is iconic #AheadOfHisTime
He's a pot head.
Agreed! Brave of him to say so, too, back then. Without it I can’t eat and am in excruciating daily pain. Thank goodness for #PlantMedicines!
Cannabis has saved & drastically improved my life, after being a medical lab rat since childhood & having Rx drugs nearly kill me many times! 🔥💨👌😎
Jesus so many potheads
@@TheSultan1470 oh stop it. Try it sometime, you’ll feel much better
so AT&T did exactly what Disney is doing right now
Well, Yeah.. Disney can't have everything. For every Coca-Cola, there's a PepsiCo.
But the difference is that Disney can get away with it cause of Nostalgia
@Curtis Tisberger Yeah, AT&T phones tasted better in the old days. 😛
@@daRiddler32 I'm damned near 60 and have zero nostalgia for Disney. Give me an old (pre 1960s) WB cartoon any day.
@@jamesslick4790 not even for Star Wars? After all it was Star Wars that Disney used as leverage to obtain Fox
Give me the twenties damnit. I want Gatsby and flappers.
And living through the Diphtheria epidemic. Also, the 20s sucked if you were not a white middle class male.
@@Lex-Rex Nobody asked you.
Neo Smith I’m a black female and I’ve always been fascinated with that era. The Art Deco, the Jazz age, a lot of things are really cool about the 20’s and I can acknowledge that and admire it while being aware of the terrible things that happened during that era as well.
Neo Smith, you’re just a SJW and a Debbie Downer all fit into one.
@@Lex-Rex The twenties suck NOW, not just because of the Chinavirus, but because of complete fools like you.
Born in December 1983, this was FANTASTIC to take a look back at my first full year on this Earth. Thank you 👍
Ghostbusters kick ass. 😀👍👻
Forgot to mention the McDonalds massacre, it was the worst mass shooting in US history at the time
OMG! How did they leave that out???
Probably because their ice cream machine was broken.
1983 hahaha
@Nezic no lol im referring to lone wolf type attacks. That's totally different
@@tnickknight it was July 1984
We love you Dalen!! thank you for the important work that you do!
I was a sophomore in high school and I just started driving with a learners permit that year. I remember ALL of this like it was yesterday! ✌️✌️✌️😎
I was a freshman. ✌
Soon you'll be forgetting as you are a stone throws away from a nursing home by now.
😆 just a joke my friend, from one old man to another.
This guy teaches better than any teacher
Agreed...this is an incredibly extensive history lesson.
Well I mean... he WAS a dean at a community college. 👀
I MISS THE 80s! This jogged my memory like my high-school track coach!
Being someone who grew up in the 80s,I love this series... awesome job
Transformers was my shit... so was Airwolf.
Hold up Weird History... you’re starting to tug at the feels here...
1984 had cult classic movies like The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th dimension, The Last Starfighter, Supergirl, Starman, Runaway, Repo Man and Dune.
D rated movies
And Gremlins!!!
Lol. I grew up in the 80s. This list stinks as representative of the time.
My 1984 was a nightmare. It was the most scariest year ever. I found my self in civil war in Africa at young age.
“And that original Van Halen magic was lost forever” - you can say that again!
Wow. Such an iconic time/album! It's crazy that the band only lasted about a year and a half after.
Van Hagar had the biggest selling albums and Sammy is still rockin right now.
@@urbanesasquatch van halen debut &1984 outsold all of van hagar album.
The album was banned in Singapore because of the cover
urbanesasquatch Van Hagar sucks !!!! Sorry
Rick Allen of Def Leppard - the story is tragic but I'm happy he was included because his perseverance to continue playing is inspiring!
I love this series. They should go as far back as possible.
1900's and up.
Eventually, yes we will!
Found your channel this past weekend and I've been hooked ever since especially these timelines. Thank you for this awesome content
I would love to see a whole video on David "the Bubble Boy" My son, Josh Smith, was diagnosed with that in 1985 and was taken to one of the same rooms David lived in that November. David's mom came to visit and was very sweet.
1984 was the year that I was born and loving on Sunday, September 16th and the same day as the series premiere of Miami Vice on NBC.
I love this series makes me wonder if you guys will continue through out the other decades as well all the way up to 2020.
We will - 90s next, then 70s
2008 just dropped
Fun Fact: When they filmed the recording session and video of "Do they know it's christmas", George Michael just came back home from the shooting of "Last Christmas". Flying home and basically instantly joining the other musicians in the studio. This man really was a trooper. We lost him way too soon :'(
This series is just mindblowing!
I really hope this series spills into the 90's and 2000's.....
Oh they will... Lol next summer of course they hit gold with this so their gonna milk it
Doom and wolfenstein
100% they will
