This is by far the best salamanders competitive video on RUclips. You explaining what each units does, did, and didn’t do is exactly what I wanted. Hearing how someone plays actual salamanders and how they play them always helps me majorly. Keep up the great work. -That guy that messaged you on Reddit
Hi Salem! I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the Munitorum Field Manual points adjustment that just dropped. I’m also curious to hear how you might tweak your current list as it increases the cost of many of the units you use.
as a salamander brother you are like a captain of company of salamander chapter, amazing video to prove that firestorm is good detchment and salamander can fight.
Oh hey, *you’re* the guy who did the vanguard vet kitbash! Aw man I loved that pic so much I tried to do it myself! I gave them shields and hammers tho
Nice analysis and excellent results! Executioners are so silly. Two of them probably take you about 20 minutes to shoot every phase 😅😅😅 I've only been running one Executioner, but because I'm running BGV, I can stash three Erads in the LRR. I have had similar thoughts about the VanVets, but so far I've loved their flexibility. Different role than the 10-man JPI for sure. I'll be headed to an RTT in a few weeks, and then a GT two weeks after that. Excited to see what happens, and glad to see your success in practice games translated to success at the GT level! Nice work for sure 😀
Great stuff! Not shocked that a ton of jump pack marines are doing well, but still an impressive result, regardless! Especially out of salamanders! The models look great!
I was at the NovaOpen and I remember seeing your well-painted Salamanders. Thank you for sharing your knowledges and experiences with this detachment. I've a question, for your 10-man jump pack intercessors, did you assign the jump captain and jump chaplain to the same 10-man brick? I haven't been playing very long so please forgive my ignorance, but I didn't know we were allowed assign to multiple leaders to the same bodyguard unit unless one of the leaders was an apothecary or a lieutenant.
Was wanting to kill 2 birds with one stone and going to start an army for arbitorians a tale of 4 gamers badab war campaign thing and going back and forth on which legion to pick but your vids definitely sealed the deal for salamanders. Excited to do their crazy badab scheme.
Excellent video - especially for someone interested in starting an army. Quick question: Would you ever consider swapping out the Eradicators for an Infernus squad? I know from previous videos you like them too and was curious how useful they might be in comparison. I also had a similar question in regard to the Aggressors vs the Blade Guard squad with Justiciar. Any thoughts you might offer would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! Erads are just super good for their points. Solid anti-tank, tough profile, and at 3 it's easy to also drop them off and hide them to stand on or do an objective. If infernus had an extra ap I'd say go for it, but as it stands I think in Pariah nexus not so much which makes me sad. Can you elaborate on your aggressor vs blade guard question?
@@SalemtheAmateur Thank you so much for your reply! In your after tournament thoughts you mentioned that a Judiciar with Blade Guard might have mitigated the trouble you had with particularly hard targets in the mid-field. It would certainly make your list more aggressive and - arguably - tougher, but you'd lose all that flamer goodness. The Blade Guard would also shave off a few points, but I'm wondering if its an even trade or you'd be losing an advantage that's not worth giving up for a handful of points.
@@rev.seanhandcock2379 Always a tough decision, I think with things like triple deathwings popping up more and more at the events I've been attending, the judiciar swap is worht it IF I go even further and fit another unit of eradicators along with the bladeguard into the raider to make up for the lack of versatility
Really enjoying these breakdowns and I appreciate how you discuss the tech of each choice and how they operate in the list. For someone that is trying to build/paint their first 2000 point Salamanders list do you have any recommendations? I feel like it’s hard to commit to that first list because you don’t want to end up with any choices that won’t see play in the future.
My general idea with list building is to pick One character and One bodyguard unit you think are super cool/effective and slowly build a list *around* them. Granted, this is hard at times because I love aggressors but never use them at 1k. But they are a central piece in my 2ks that the rest of the lists movement revolves around
Curious how you feel about 6 man eradication squad with an Apothecary biologis, I've seen alot of people suggest it on reddit but I wonder how practical/useful it actually is
In Gladius with the Sustained fire thingy enhancement I think it may have a place, the concern is that it's around 270 pts if I remember correctly so you need to be wise with their application In firestorm it's 30 pts less but then you've got this massive target of Gravis that a redemptor or a forge fiend could just pick up in the flash of an eye and you aren't getting the all out bonus you do from the Gladius enhancement. I think it wiser in firestorm to spread them out (they can also help with actions this way) and save the points on the Biologis
i hope you don’t mind, but i’m netdecking your list (or whatever the warhammer term is) to start my first army. what do you recommend i play for a 1000 points version of this list?
Techmarine Repulsor Executioner 2x3 man units of eradicators Gladiator Valiant Storm Speeder Hammerstrike Squad of scouts and a brick of infernus marines for flavor
It's mentioned briefly that a captain benefitted from a chaplain's+1 to wound during the Knights bit. How can you do that if they can't be in the same unit?
Hi! I might've spoke too fast but the Captain is getting +1 to wound through the Crucible of Battle stratagem, not the Chaplain. They are indeed in separate squars
Have you considered running calgar and Uriel? I've been having some success with centurions dropping in as a good shooting and counter combat piece. Its more expensive than I'd like but my last 2 opponents hardly had answers for them
I actually handicap myself to no special characters! Always have since I started in 4th edition. The only exception I make is for my world eaters because Kharn is my favorite lore character
@@SalemtheAmateur yeah I think I'm the one person on the planet running assault centurions. It's just hilarious to rapid ingress them when my opponent is about to charge my eradicators and overwatch with 36+6d6 shots at str 5 reroll wounds
Can you offer some tips on handling Thunderwolf/wulfen spam list with firestorm? Seems like an impossible matchup since so many things can easily be tied up in combat early
Bait! Big bricks of units in melee lists often have the problem of "Someone has to kill the small scoring units". Small jumpers and scouts in the vanguard you are willing to lose can force your opponent to expose themselves to deal with them. Accept the losses, but position to hit back as Thunderwolves are way less scary on the defense. Screens like strung out scouts also help block mounted units like thunderwolves from moving too far

Good format. Segments help everyone even though I'm planning to watch the whole thing. Great work!
Was waiting for this! Thank you! :)
This is exactly the type of list I am hoping to run when I get more models. Transport-heavy with a few unique powerful units.
solid advice on the Great unclean one. my buddy plays this guy and the 4++ is a pain to try to kill.

I'm really interested in 1000 point list building, especially tips for adaptng 2k lists for 1k and expanding 1k lists to 2k.

Hi! They are leading two separate squads of 10
Def what I do when I use jump intercessors in blood angels.. have them sit back and can move 12inch and get the charge off. they put in work..

Chaplin with jump pack? Blood angels model?
That's actually a kitbashed version of the jump captain put on the correct base size

Am I high or are Aggressors aggressively bad now. I feel like normal marines are better
Aggressors are great BUT really need a transport. If they have to footslog they are awful which is why at 1k I don't recommend them
