It really has saved me. Although I think it took me hitting the 1000+ mark to really get my head around how much wax this is for me, given how much I can realistically warm in a month. That is the part that has been the most telling as I track month by month.
I am so excited to see what you got from TSGS!!! I'm getting closer to low buy. I'm really making a conscious effort. I almost escaped the TB RTS. I thought by doing my VLOG that day it would help me, in a sense it did because I did only grab 2 things so that's a start because I would have gotten more so my shopping VLOG did help. I skipped Knowles and I skipped Swanky!!! Skipped Britta too! I did do a destash, but I'm getting there! You really do help by doing these videos 💜 I'm going to continue my Scentsy because that's where this journey all began and I do have customers and I want to be current and knowledgeable for them. I'm using the Aquaphor lip balm on my eyes!!! LOL, works great!!! No milia, yet, will keep you posted. Great video! Thanks 💜💜
I just recorded my TSGS haul over the weekend. I'll post it later this week. Getting only two things is major compared to how we all did (including myself) last time around. So glad the Aquaphor is working. It's cutting down on the dryness for sure
Great video!!!!! I use a spreadsheet and also put them in when I purchase them. I keep my numbers (I think) low between 250-350. I do not currently have anything over a year old. I love Fall scents and that’s what I generally melt during fall/winter. Not a huge fan of mint and trees and that tends to be a lot of winter scents. My Scentsy Club is less than $100, only things that I love or trying something new. I hate ordering for a few new things and pay for shipping. The biggest thing for me (with in the last 6 months) I know what I like and don’t like and sticking to that.
I love what you are doing. I'd be so happy when I can get my stash to at least 400 and then work my way down to 250-300. Looks like I have a ways to go but I know I can get there. As for my club that is another story but I keep skipping it and every time I get more and more aggressive with my cuts. You've done great
Martha sounds like you and I melt about the same amount of wax each month. Throwing you a 🛟, stay strong. 💪🏻 Great book choices, I read many work books and need to make more time for some light fun reads. Eye balm, interesting I need to check this out as I get older makeup has become an interesting struggle.
I have a spreadsheet too. I’ve been trying to get my Scentsy stash down to a certain number (it’s still a lot) but now it’s fall and of course I have to try what’s new!! Eek! I don’t track samples. I think it would make sense to give a general number to larger pieces of wax - like a tub or anything close to that (8 oz?) is 3 or 4. A loaf would be 6. It could be a range so you can guess and not worry about how many ounces you used. Just are you at the halfway point etc. I need to do that for my Teddy Bees too to see what I’m really dealing with! When I go in to buy something I try to take at least one or two of something out of my cart before I checkout. And then I think about my top 10 or 25 scents and think would I rather melt my favorite or this new XYZ? It’s so hard! I want all the things! Reality is not my friend….😂 Love your videos! ❤
It's like you are in my head. I also considered using a clamshell as a baseline and thinking a loaf would equal 6 to 1 clamshell! It's so funny you said that but with over 1000 pieces it would be a lot of work so I dropped that idea. It's so hard because I want to melt the old stuff, but hate not melting the new stuff because it's a way of saying I didn't need the new stuff which I knew but didn't want to admit. 😂 It's hard to resist these amazing combination of scent notes. Thanks for watching!
It's funny you mentioned the box idea because that was exactly what I was going to suggest! I live a low-buy lifestyle by giving everything a designated space. If a drawer, box, or shelf is full, I just don't buy more of what goes there. I've tried other methods, but I found myself spending too much time deciding what to buy and ended up with too much stuff to enjoy my space. This way is easiest for me because I only need to decide once where an item's space is. After that, checking if I have room is as simple as glancing at the clock or noticing the milk is half gone in the fridge. It doesn't take long and it isn't hard.I know this approach isn’t for everyone, but it works for me! Do whatever feels right for you. If it feels better to get something, then get it. But if you feel anxious from having too much or spending too long deciding, it might not be a net positive. Btw, I love your book reviews and updates! I don't read a ton, but I remember "10,000 Doors of January" wasn’t even on my radar yet before you mentioned it in one of these videos. I really ended up liking it, and it kind of made its way into my family circle too.
Yes the boxing it in is a great method and I need to just do it. I'm so glad you enjoyed the 10,000 Doors of January. I read a lot too and there are only a handful of books that stick with me. The Giver of Stars is another one that I loved. Did you read the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue?
@@Martha_FragranceCorner I've really enjoyed the simplicity of the box/shelf method! And if you try it and don't like it then you'll still have the satisfaction of knowing what you think of an idea you've been kind of waiting to try on for a while. I've not read either of those books but I just put them on hold at my library :)
Great check-in, Martha! Good luck on the no buy this month 🤞🏻 you’ve got a great stash, so I have no doubts. Thanks so much for sharing, you’re doing a great job 🫶🏻
Love your thoughts and uour check in ! I did okay( ish) I skipped several openings that honestly stung a little but I got over it rather quickly. I have been really wanting to try Swanky also. I’m not looking! I also heard of some up coming pre orders that are very tempting ( to remain nameless to not lead to temptation 😅) The timing is not right for me . I’m stayig strong!! 💪 I just look at my drawers or containers and see they are full , Don’t buy more I say!
As much as I was tempted i am not going to try Swanky's until I get this wax number down. That can be my reward for being good. 😄 I'm also really glad the RG Mario preorder didn't tempt me. I have a number of those scents and I didn't feel like I needed to try any of the new ones. We can be strong together!
I’ve always been really good about not overbuying with my wax collection. I’ve been melting since 2016 and always kept my collection to a certain amount. I have a smallish wax cabinet and I don’t buy more than what fits in there. I only buy the scents I know I’m gonna like for sure and that keeps my orders smallish and reasonable. I get major anxiety if my collection gets too big. And I don’t like the thought of wax going bad cuz I don’t get to melt it in time. Also, I’m picky about what vendors I buy from and that helps as well.
Love this. When I started Scentsy in 2022, I honestly thought I wouldn't have more than about 60 bars but because I was starting out I was in discovery mode and when I start something I dive in. Scentsy had so many LTO's and I felt like I needed to try them all so I could tell my viewers what I thought and so I could figure out what I liked and didn't like. Then vendor wax came into the picture and same thing. I wanted to smell everyone's palo santo, or coffee, or fill in the blank and I over bought. I also wasn't tracking what I was buying until it arrived and well that's how I ended up with over 1000 pieces. It's so crazy how quickly that happened.
That's fantastic! There isn't a time when I'm home that I'm not melting something both upstairs and downstairs and I still only get to about 40 a month
I don't know how helpful this would be with RUclips content but I limit myself to buying from 8 vendors per year. So at the beginning of the year I decide what those 8 vendors are and stick with it. I don't specifically limit myself with what I buy but there is only so much when you tighten up where it's coming from. It also helps me realize what vendors I really love and which ones I'm not missing but I think it general it just really helps me from going completely wild 😆 as always give yourself grace Martha, I think you're doing a great job!
I think at this point in time I have figured out who those vendors are and maybe I only allow myself to pick two new vendors a year to try at least once. So I can pick the 6 I want to purchase from and have two open spots for new vendors that I really want to try. I have planned out who I will purchase from for the rest of the year. That was pretty easy for me to do. Great suggestion!
I kinda have the same rule for room. I have four bins under my bed where I keep scentsy and then a drawer for partial bars. If those get full then I won’t be purchasing anymore other than my club because I don’t want to loose those bars but I can always push that back to work on some wax
My Scentsy bars have a very specific place where I store them and I've consistently been good about not having more than fits in it's space. Now if I were just as good with the vendor wax I bring in.
I'm going to try and not buy anymore either! I did do a preorder for Knowles, Salt Mountain and Sweet Tooth Scents but I think I may be good for a bit! Although, I may want a few Scentsy scents. I haven't ordered Scentsy in a few years!
The Scentsy line up looks good. I'm expecting the new Fall scents tomorrow or Friday. I'm going to stay strong and not buy more for the rest of the month. We can do this!
I am tracking my wax daily from the vendors I purchase from often including Scentsy. The ones I don’t really buy from aren’t included in my numbers as of right now and samples aren’t either. I track everything in my notes app by vendor and then I have a totals table😬 I started buying wax a year ago in August and I’ve accumulated 750 pieces. Starting to realize that it’s addicting and I don’t go through it fast enough. Thanks Martha😊
I’m just steadily using. I get so excited every time I finish something, the challenges help me get through stuff too. I change at least one warmer every day. 1 is 1 for me too. But one Scentsy bar takes 8 times to use. I only put 1 cube per dish unless I’m doing a mix. So not exactly sure I have the best tracking system either, but as long as I’m using stuff I’m happy
Oh I am sucking hard on this low buy!! Lol I went big on Lavender & Speckles July’s pre order and ended up getting 25 individual blends. I ordered the Gourdy Goodness Collection from Scentsy (x3), the 10 new scents from fall Scentsy catalog, Harvest Collection (x2), the August SWOTM kit. Bad decisions lol 😂 I am planning on ordering from Melting Memories later this month for her fall pre order and I have a Scentsy party link to close out on September 1st. Non wax I have done good not buying any impulsive beauty purchases. Trying to use up the lotion, skin care, makeup, perfume that I have. TEMU purchases have been back to school only and I am proud to say I am all done with that ✔️ 💯 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Now I am thinking ahead to soccer season 🥅 ⚽️ as both kids need new cleats and socks and then Halloween costumes of course. I decided I don’t need to buy any new fall decor from dollar tree or any other store what I bought last year will be fine. But I need to stop buying shoes LOLOL that I seem to cannot handle these past two months. 😂😂😂
We all have our bad months and our good months. I've hit my cap for the month and I'm not buying any more wax or makeup or skincare unless I run out of something. I love buying shoes too!
With my spread sheet I put what I buy in the month that I purchased it in. Then I know okay I bought this many items I need to warm that many items (I don’t normally get threw that much but I do try)
You’re doing great Martha! My thoughts when you mentioned tracking wax by oz is I am absolutely not doing that 😅 I also love tracking my preorders before they arrive so I’m going to stick with that. The only preorders I’m absolutely participating in are Knowles and TB’s. I’m really hoping to skip everyone else although S&S might tempt me in which case my order will have to be very small!
I’ve been on a RG no buy all year (because I have so much!), but I am weak when it comes to her Mario blends. Plus whenever I buy from RG I always buy at least 11 bags to get free shipping because who doesn’t love a deal? 😂 This year she is doing 2 Mario preorders because her scent list is insane, and I don’t know if I can avoid them both 😬
I would just like to point out that because you get a lot of friend mail, your numbers are going to go up easier than your willpower! So don’t beat yourself up about that. ;) One idea to combat that is to see how you could try to send someone friend mail on a semi-regular basis. Particularly with wax, but also some other things….I used to try to come up with a space limit, and then for some reason that backfires, and I go bonkers buying whatever that item is. I don’t know why space has no motivational pull for me. 🫣 I try to track my numbers in my spreadsheet to help, and it mostly does, but something happened this spring, and I’m way more up than I expected to be. Oops! So I’m continuing to try to work on things and avoid sales. In happier news, my candle stash is down by over 30%. I’m doing ok there…except that now fall candles are out. It’s getting harder not to buy some!
Funny you say friend mail because that is what I have done this month. A little here and there. ❤️ Space motivates me a little but it’s mostly my spreadsheet that keeps me from going over the edge. This has been a good month for me. I know some months will be good and some months I will be bad, but hopefully in the end I will end the year better than I started. Good luck not going too off the rails with candles. I still have so many candles when I went nuts with BBW sales.
Since recording this, I’m determined not to buy anything more this month.

Space motivates me a little but it’s mostly my spreadsheet that keeps me from going over the edge. This has been a good month for me. I know some months will be good and some months I will be bad, but hopefully in the end I will end the year better than I started.
Good luck not going too off the rails with candles. I still have so many candles when I went nuts with BBW sales.
