I'll be honest, I have a soft spot for this show. I remember watching this show on Disney XD. Hell I even remember seeing Lego sets based on this show. Not only that but it did a good job on introducing heroes like Moon Knight, White Tiger and Cloak and Dagger unlike other marvel shows that don't introduced these characters.(Aside from E.M.H) So yeah this is a guilty pleasure of mine and I don't regret watching it.

Everything is great about Ultimate Spider-Man, for me. Especially the Spider-Verse episodes. I love the introductions of Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Girl, Spider-Knight, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham and Kid Arachnid.
This show introduced me to spider_man, and though I admit spectacular spider-man is a better show, ultimate spider-man still holds a special place in my heart
I'm still yet to watch Spectacular Spider-man so I don't know the difference yet but If its anything or even better than this show I'm sure I will love it

I remember I was around 11 or 12 when this show was coming out while I was reading ultimate comics in middle school and I was always annoyed how it barely had anything in common with the ultimate universe except with design. Only like 2 episodes where adaptation of comics and the venom suit technically but nothing else.
ahhh, that's a shame It would have been cool to see the source material come to life. I know they where trying new things but it would have been nice to see more from the comic

I always liked this show. I felt like it had a unique "Ferris Bueller's Day Off-esque", yet very accurate take on Spidey's character. Spider-man is supposed to be silly and fun. I liked the new team (the characters were recognizable enough Marvel characters to me) with him as leader, felt kind of like Marvel's take on Young Justice. I've never finished it because the writing wasn't quite deep enough to keep me hooked, but I want to finish it sometime soon. It had a real good charm. I think they would have had more success if they would have wrote a bit more compelling plots and just focused on the team. But still, I'll always have fond memories of this show. And the animation, especially Spidey's design is some of the best in Marvel cartoons. I think the main problem that turned audiences off was probably was the title; being called Ultimate Spider-man gave viewers a VERY specific idea that it was an adaption of the beloved and very specific Ultimate Spider-man comics... which it wasn't in any way. Which isn't a bad thing for it to be different, but that marketed it wrong. If it were called something like, Spider-man And His Amazing Team or Spider-man: Agent Of Shield or something like that, I think it would have gone over much better because people would have been expecting something unique. But then again, I loved tasm 1 and 2 and those movies are only starting to be loved by the masses. So sometimes, it's not for everyone but specific viewers.
I completely agree, I think the fact it is tied to the USM comics really upset lots of people as they wanted to see what they love come to the life. Also Spider-man: Agent of Shield is an amazing name that they really should have gone with.

Regardless of everything else I did enjoy the contest of champions. Plus they made iron fist a teenager and he was still more dignified than the Netflix version.
Loved this show growing up. Sure it's not the best but it was fun and we finally got some different characters for Spidey to interact with. Definitely got a soft spot for it.
The wolverine episode is a loose adaptation to a comic where wolverine and spiderman switch minds it's from the ultimate Spiderman run though it's all a bit weird in both versions
5:20 smh, don't even know about the peak that is Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (fr tho listen to Nova's theme in that, I love it sm) In all seriousness even back when this show came out, when I was like 11 or 12 yrs old, I had complicated feelings about it. I didn't necessarily mind the fourth wall breaks or chibi cutaways, after all I love the 2000s Teen Titans, but it felt like too much every episode. I remember getting tired of the helicarrier as a setting pretty much every episode, especially in the later seasons. I also wanna preface that I don't mind Harry being Venom NOW, but as a kid it pissed me off for some reason lol
I just listened to Nova's theme song, holy shit its good. this is all reasonable, I agree sometimes everything just seems to much, I think It might have been to attract a younger audience for things like toys and playsets. It's worth noting that, while not a direct adaption, the cartoon, particularly in the early seasons, does draw a fair amount from the Ultimate run, I'm not the most knowledagble but I believe SHIELD did have a higher presence in 1610 Peter's life than 616's, though I think not as big as in the show, as for Venom and Goblin, Venom was man made in the ultimate universe, albeit by Richard Parker and Eddie Brock Sr, while the Ultimate Green Goblin is a hulking monster, with Fire powers I believe, effectively the cartoon gave him the appearence of the Ultimate Goblin and the arsenal of the classic one. I also, perhaps because of the prevelance of the 'cameo' episodes, drew comprarisons between this show and Batman The Brave and the Bold, it's just that B&B took from more of the sliver age to fit the lighthearted tone of the show. Honestly, while not perfect, I think a fair portion of the hate USM and it's sister show, Avengers Assemble get are from fans of the shows they replaced; Spectacular Spider Man and Earth's Mightest Heroes, which are admittedlty far superior shows.

In one of the origins of venom Deadpool gets his hands on venom first, he puts the suit on and venom reads his mind and if you didn’t know this anyone who reads Deadpool’s mind goes crazy, Deadpool realizes it’s trying to read his mined so he quickly takes it off and puts it back were he finds it then spider man just so happens to find it and put it on. Now you might be wondering how does this tie into venom being obsessed with spider man, well if you didn’t know Deadpool has a huge obsession with spider man, so when venom bonded with Deadpool he also became super obsessed with spider man and that is why venom is so crazy about him and why he’s crazy.

Bruh i watched the show hoping It could get good back on the day, the only decent villain was the Green Goblin and he became a good guy despite how shady & evil Norman Osborn was in Season 1. Bruh he basically sent super mercenaries to kill and stole the DNA of Spiderman to sell super soldiers to the highest bidder... And the show was like him ok this guy can redeemed... 😴 Not mention Peter's first Team Nova, Iron Fist, White Tiger and Luke Cage were all replaced by the web Warriors in Season 3... Like come in dude they spent 2 seasons building up their characters only for them to get less screen Time? The More i think about the worse It gets. The Show would be the definition of wasted potential.
I havent seen past season 1 but I understand that, it seems that they kinda drop the ball and it becomes less enjoyable or that moments hold less weight since they are just removed or redeemed. Its a real shame I really liked the first group
People always hate on the writing of this show and I won't lie, I love this show BECAUSE I was a kid when I watched Ultimate and I found it funny!! To this day I will always adore the art style though, that still stands pretty well I think.
In the ultimate comics his father made the symbiotie with his own dna which Peter has so venom was always attracted to him so it’s kinda the same in the cartoon
This show does hold a place in my heart. I really enjoyed it when I was young. It introduced me to a bunch of characters outside of the popular avengers team, and I loved the initial team in the series, of which this series was my first introduction. I lost interest as the seasons went on (and I grew up) as it felt like characters outside of Peter barely even showed up/did anything and the plots felt less interesting (from my memory), but I can't deny that I enjoy the show, the characters and all it did touch on. I would love to give the show a watch again now that I'm older. Thanks for the great video!
As someone who watched this for the first time later in life, I can say that it has survived the test of time, the first season really was enjoyable, tho I cannot talk about the rest of it since I haven't seen it yet. But yes I highly recommend a rewatch. And no worries I'm glad you liked it
It’s not the best but for all its flaws I can’t say it was bad. It had its bad moments( spider man’s pet hulk, the Jessie crossover, it’s treatment of nova) It had its great moments(contest of champions, the take on spider verse, the ghost of uncle Ben saving Peter from nightmare) It even got a couple laughs out of me(the sinister six lightbulb joke, doom giving big ups to his boy Spider-Man, Howard the ducks eternal superiority over Spider-Man, and Deadpool’s episode(hehe, you said traps)) I can’t say it was a good series or a bad one but I think it earned the right to exist.

The reason why Venom hates Peter is because Peter wore the symbiote, thinking it was a cool black suit during Secret Wars then Peter found out, from Reed Richards that it was a symbiote feeding off of him so he rejected it and that pissed off the symbiote and made it jealous

This show is up there with Spectacular for me for different reasons The ONLY version of Spider-Man that actually GREW as a person and you could SEE that. Every season gave us a more Mature and Skilled Peter. Couldn't ask for more🔥🔥🔥 I mean SERIOUSLY this Peter is respected by EVERYONE in this universe by the end...thats more than even 616 or 1610 can say😭. Also I love the Portrayals of Harry, MJ and Taskmaster was a PERFECT Adaptation

Me personally I’m not a fan of Mary Jane becoming a spider-person like she’s jackpot now in the comics and I don’t like that either.I mean she was a Symbiote person in the latest Spider-Man game but that was just like only once there.Just not a fan of Mary Jane as a superhero because she’s someone who doesn’t need powers to be a important part of Spider-Man’s life.
Love the video and all, but I think you don't know about the Ultimate Universe (Earth 1610) from the comics. As you seem surprised upon learning Venom was created using Parker DNA and the fact that Green Goblin is massive.
you keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means. If the other super heroes were having cameos then they'd just be in the background, or get single scene or line, a very small role not worth noting in a plot synopsis, however these "cameo episodes" feature heroes and villains with major roles in their episodes, they're not cameos, they're guest stars.
while true, it would make more sense to call them guest stars or special Guests, cameo episode sounded better when it came to the video so I just went with that
I do like the ideas and the villains. The only thing that I was not keen on was the constant cut away jokes. However, I like how they had different villains and the sinister six.
I understand that, the cut away jokes did sometimes feel overused and maybe placed in some spots that didn't need them, and agreed the villain variety was wondering, a good few I had never heard of so I was learning as tho I was a kid watching spiderman for the first time
Season 1 was good. The stuff with doc ock, venom. Carnage and goblin. There were some great episodes like the body swap ones. But the show could have been a lot better. I don't HATE it but it isn't some underrated gem. I just wish the characters were expanded on better.

Btw, I'm not trying to say your opinion is invalid, this video is fantastic. Norman osborn and the goblin are probably the best written characters to me. But nobody I've ever seen on this site has praised season one, in fact most say the show didn't find its footing til web warriors. But I think season 1 was where the shoe excelled. Although the spiderverse events were good and as I said, there were good episodes. I would suggest any of the other spiderman shows except the new one and also the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. They are very good. The 90s show isn't for me entirely but it's good and the NTV and Spectacular shows are in my opinion, perfect. But I'm sure you've heard this before. So I don't want to annoy you

i personally think this ultimate Spider-Man show was really bad and plus as a huge fan ultimate Spider-Man comics this felt like a big slap in the face for people like me who loved those comics growing up, this show took that source material and threw it away for freaking garbage stories that nobody liked myself included, and to make the matters worse this show replaced a great show like Spectacular Spider-Man which was doing everything fantastic and did Spider-Man peter parker character justice at least my opinion. My point is in general this show as just freaking garbage and didn't any of the characters justice not Peter parker not Mary jane nobody was done great on this show but treated like garbage at least in my opinion. Also another thing I hated about this show was butchering of my favorite character Spider-girl mayday parker and instead of doing her character we got a gender swap version of Spider-girl who wasn't mayday parker but basically ultimate Jessica Drew Spider-woman but not Spider-woman which is infuriating in itself because she's technically a clone of peter parker spider-man who's also gender swap version of Spider-Man too and the fact we never got to see her on this show just proves my point more and more that this show as a complete cash grab and made for garbage at least in my opinion.

I will say this for me, I have a soft spot for this series for me I could understand why people hated it this for me I will always enjoy the ultimate spider-man cartoon series it's better written then marvel's spider-man twenty seventeen series. Compared to 2017's Spiderman animated series, yes, it has better episodes than 2017, and it doesn't make me hate every character and waste well know spiderman voice actor's by having them as villains who hardly appear

I think I’ll just always despise the name of the show. I read the comics when I was younger and went into the show thinking it would be like the ultimate comics but dialed down and that just isn’t the case.
Ye I heard that the name threw a lot of fans off and made them dislike the show, stand alone I think the show is perfectly fine, but because it uses the same name as the USM comics it isnt received as well
I honestly could never bring myself to hate this show. I grew up with it and I doubt I'd be as much of a Spider-Man fan without it's influence (same for Spectacular Spider-Man, but less so since I watched Ultimate more). It also introduced me to characters I'd otherwise never have heard of, like Nova and White Tiger, who I now remember fondly. So thanks for the memories Ultimate, you'll always be a precious nostalgia trip for me.
Sadly I didn't get to watch it as a child, But watching is now I can see how I would have loved this when I was younger. I'm glad it brings back such good memories for you
I think a lot of people might have done similar things, a show taking over the spot of spectacular spiderman on tv was going to be hated but now when people go back and watch it they sometimes find that its not as bad as they remember

As a Spider-Man fan I think this show is okay. The comedy can be hit and miss but then again it's all in Peter's head and as it kept going on they used it less and less as he grew up which makes sense, the characters were interesting if not too many of them but hey that's the problem with a lot of shows especially marvel, the action scenes and animation were fantastic, and in my opinion it had to the spirit of Spider-Man especially with him wanting to help people and reform villains. And there's a lot of stuff that was taken from this series and put into other Spider-Man media. Like the spider verse, Jameson being a news podcaster like in Spider-Man PS4, Harry becoming Venom, and having Spider-Man in a larger MCU universe. Also the villains were pretty fun if a little goofy like Loki, but then again turn Spider-Man into a pig or Thor into a frog does sound like something god of mischief would do. Overall I'd like to show but I will acknowledge its very flawed

I think ultimate spiderman is a good show fans should view it as a comidic interpretation of the the character that doesn't take itself seriously kinda like the Lego batman movie being a comidic interpretation of batman that doesn't take itself seriously, best way I can describe ultimate spiderman is pure fun the show is really entertaining, if you're looking for a spiderman show that is deep with drama and serious moments and big character developments then you're gonna be disappointed with ultimate spiderman, ultimate spiderman is comidic and it embrace it,it's not trying to be eagy and dark and mature it's just trying to be fun, comidic and entertaining

I really don't like the way Venom was depected in this show at all, he was basically a near mindless monster, and no replacing Eddie Brock with Harry Osborn as his host does not make him anymore interesting.
A lot of people hate on Ultimate Spiderman, I decided to to give the show a watch and I actually end up watching every single episode and i was intrigued by things this show had to offer. There’s actually a lot of reasons why a person should watch/like Ultimate Spiderman. First off the animation is great. Like serious anyone can say that this show is bad but you half to admit that this is the best animation of any marvel cartoon. Drake Bell does the voice of Peter Parker/Spiderman. I used to love watching Drake and Josh. Also I just realized something interesting. Josh Keaton voices Peter Parker/ Spiderman in Spectacular. Drake Bell does Peter Parker/Spiderman in Ultimate. Josh Keaton/Drake Bell. Drake and Josh. Also, Spiderman/Peter Parker talks to the audience. His voice actor Drake Bell played Drake Parker on Drake and Josh. He and his brother would talk to the audience in the opening of all episodes. The fourth wall breaking and immature stuff was a bit much but it kind of grew on me. I mean c’mon its Disney what did you expect. There was some seriousness In between the forth wall breaks and immature jokes. The humor in this show is kind of similar to the humor in the original Teen Titans animated series. Ultimate Spider-Man is pretty much like Batman The Brave and The Bold: Both shows involves the main superhero teaming up with various other superheroes in each episode. Both shows are goofy like with some maturity and seriousness in them. Albeit BTBAB is more mature than Ultimate Spiderman. Both shows had dark episodes. BTBAB dark episodes were Dawn of the Deadman, Trials of the Demon, Chill of the Night, The Shadow of The Bat. Siege of Starro part 1 and 2. Ultimate Spider-Man dark episodes were Blade, The Howling Commandos, The Symbiote Saga arc, The New Sinister Six part 1 and 2. Both series have episodes that feature Morgan Le Fey. BTBAB Day of the Dark Knight. US Halloween Night at the Museum. Both series had episodes where the hero traveled to medieval times. Brave and the bold Day of the Dark Knight, US Spider Verse episodes. There was a Knight Batman and a Knight Spiderman called Spyder Knight. Both series had episodes with vampires in it. Brave and The Bold: Shadow of the Bat. US: Blade, Halloween Commandos, one of the spider verse arc episodes. Both series feature alternate versions of the hero’s. BTBAB episodes Deep Cover for Batman, Game Over for Owlman, The Super Batman of Planet X, The Knights of Tomorrow, Night of the Batmen, Time Out For Vengeance. Ultimate Spiderman you got Iron Spider, Scarlet Spider, Kid Arachnid, Steel Spider, Agent Venom, Spyder Knight, Spider Ham, Spiderman Noir, Web Slinger/Cowboy Spiderman, Ghost Spider, Bone Spider, Goliath Spider, Spider-Gwen, Spider Woman, Spider Girl. Other reasons to like Ultimate Spiderman: First animated appearances of White Tiger, Blood Spider, Spider Man 2099, Agent Venom, Kid Arachnid, Iron Spider, Spider Ham, Jack o Lantern, Mister Negative, Anti Venom, Agent Coulson, Iron Patriot, Patrioter and other marvel characters. J.K. Simmons played J. Jonah Jamison in the Sam Raimi Spiderman movies and does the voice for J. Jonah Jamison in Ultimate Spiderman. There’s an episode called Spidah Man we’re he went to Boston and became their hero. It parodied Batman. Spiderman has a spider cave, he has a butler named Charles. He has a sidekick called Ollie. He had different spider merchandise to assist him with crime in that episode. In fact in that very episode his sidekick was Steel Spider, and he was the one causing trouble because Spiderman rejected him. That’s like the Incredibles where Buddy Pine became Syndrome and wanted revenge on Mr. Incredible who wanted to be his sidekick but was rejected. I heard a lot of people don’t like this version of Green Goblin. I didn’t really mind him. This one is more ruthless, evil and stronger. He even has his own background music. Hes a combination of the goblin from the ultimate comics and the regular goblin. It was cool that he became The Spider Goblin. It’s also cool that those hydra soldiers are goblins themselves. Norma Osborn as Green Goblin went back to classic Goblin look. Ultimate Goblin was pretty cool. Doc Ock going through different changes throughout the series was cool. Deadpool teaming up with Spiderman and breaking the forth wall along with Spiderman was fun and funny. The SpiderVerse episodes were done really well. Stan Lee appears in the series as the janitor at the high school. Spiderman losing his powers in the two part series finale is a callback to him losing his powers in Spider Man 2 (2004). Also in one of the Christmas episodes Peter threw away his costume in the trash and walked away. Peter threw away his costume in the trash and walked away in the 2004 movie. Electro, Spyder Knight, and Wolf Spider are voiced by Chris Barnes who did the voice for 90s Spiderman. In Savage Spiderman, Spiderman turns into a monster a call back to him becoming Man Spider from 90s Spiderman. Moon Knight appears in this series and he’s voiced by the same guy who voiced Batman from The Brave and The Bold. The Web Warriors: Spider Man, Iron Spider, Scarlet Spider, Kid Arachnid and Agent Venom are pretty much like TMNT. Like, they have the same personalities. Spider Man (Peter Parker) and Leonardo: Both are the leaders of the team and are the most responsible. Iron Spider (Amodeous Cho) and Donatello: Both are the intellectual/geeky one of the group. Scarlet Spider ( Ben Reily) and Raphael: Both are the tough one with the ruff attitude, and is always ready for a fight. Kid Arachnid ( Miles Morales) and Micheangelo: Both are the youngest and likes to have fun. Agent Venom ( Flash Thompson)and Casey Jones: Both are the rookie and are kind of out of the loop compared to the others. Like, Venom he’s not really a spider unlike the others. Casey Jones is human unlike the others who are turtles. I’ve noticed some callbacks to Spectacular Spiderman: Some of the characters in Ultimate Spiderman have their own color backgrounds. In TSSM intro, characters would have their own color backgrounds. One time Peter said that I am the Spectacular Ultimate Spiderman. Porky Pig called him the Spectacular Ultimate Spiderman as well. In US, Juggernaut bear hugged Spider Man and Spiderman made a comment about his breath. In SSM, Ox bear hugged Spiderman and Spiderman made a comment about his breath. In the episode For Your Eyes Only, Nick Fury said my luck number when the number on the computer showed up. In Spectacular Spiderman, Doc Ock said my lucky number when that scientist told him the vault number. In the episode Venomous, Venom had his hand on Spider-Man’s head and he got angry, jumped up and fought him. The same thing happened in the SSM episode Nature vs Nurture. When Green Goblin was escaping, Spiderman ran out of web fluid and said “not a good time to run out of web fluid” He said the same thing when fighting sandman in the SSM episode Competition. Alex o Hirn in Ultimate Spiderman looks very much like Seamore a kid that appeared in some episodes of Spectaular Spiderman. Ava Ayala calls Peter Petey sometimes. Liz Allen from Spectacular calls Peter Petey. Both girls are also Hispanic. In the episode Me Time, Spiderman fights Dr. Octopus at a carnival. In the same episode he takes a kid hostage and says that that it’s Spider-Man’s weakness that he can’t see anyone hurt. In SSM episode, Reaction, Dr. Octopus fights Spiderman at a carnival. He takes Liz Allen hostage and says that he can’t see anyone hurt. Doc Ock says coupe de gras in this series. He said it in Spectacular Spiderman. The episode I am Spider Man was about a Spiderman musical play that MJ was doing and Flash Thompson was to play Spiderman. Flash Thomson dresses up as Spider-Man for the play. In spectacular, there was a play going on in a couple episodes, Flash Thompson dressed up as Spider-Man to prove that anyone can pretend to be Spiderman. In the episode, Kraven The Hunter, Kraven turns into a cat monster. In the SSM episode, Destructive Testing, Kraven turns into a cat monster. Dee Bradley Baker reprises his role as Dr. Curt Connors in Ultimate Spiderman. He previously provided the voice for him in Spectacular Spiderman. Ben Diskin voiced Blood Spider, Skarr, Spider Ham, Morbius in Ultimate Spiderman. He was the voice actor for Venom in Spectacular Spiderman. In the episode, Nightmare on Christmas in one of the dream sequence, he goes up against the enforcers made up of Montana, Fancy Dan and Rhino. He went up against them in Spectacular. Montana has a southern accent just like he did in Spectacular. The animation for that scene was also cool. I believe this is also the only Spiderman series that had an actual series finale to conclude the series. 90s Spiderman, Spiderman Unlimited, MTV Spiderman, and Spectacular Spiderman were all canceled and left off cliffhangers.
@@BestBeastWarrior Oh wow I forgot that show. I didn’t really cared for that show. I think it was complete crap. It had a lot of problems with it. They made everybody or almost everybody a genius. Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Anya, Harry Osborn, Norman Osborn, Allstair Smythe, Otto Octavius, Dr Curt Connors, etc. It makes Peter Parker feel overshadowed. Also the jokes in this series weren’t really the best and the animation was atrocious. It also felt like some things were rushed like the symbiote episodes and making his friends Spiderman just like that. I did started watching it when it but I just lost interest and stopped watching it altogether. At least Ultimate Spiderman had better animation, and a better story. It was way more entertaining.
I'll be honest, I have a soft spot for this show. I remember watching this show on Disney XD. Hell I even remember seeing Lego sets based on this show.
Not only that but it did a good job on introducing heroes like Moon Knight, White Tiger and Cloak and Dagger unlike other marvel shows that don't introduced these characters.(Aside from E.M.H)
So yeah this is a guilty pleasure of mine and I don't regret watching it.

Everything is great about Ultimate Spider-Man, for me. Especially the Spider-Verse episodes. I love the introductions of Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Girl, Spider-Knight, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham and Kid Arachnid.

I remember I was around 11 or 12 when this show was coming out while I was reading ultimate comics in middle school and I was always annoyed how it barely had anything in common with the ultimate universe except with design. Only like 2 episodes where adaptation of comics and the venom suit technically but nothing else.

I always liked this show. I felt like it had a unique "Ferris Bueller's Day Off-esque", yet very accurate take on Spidey's character. Spider-man is supposed to be silly and fun. I liked the new team (the characters were recognizable enough Marvel characters to me) with him as leader, felt kind of like Marvel's take on Young Justice. I've never finished it because the writing wasn't quite deep enough to keep me hooked, but I want to finish it sometime soon. It had a real good charm. I think they would have had more success if they would have wrote a bit more compelling plots and just focused on the team. But still, I'll always have fond memories of this show. And the animation, especially Spidey's design is some of the best in Marvel cartoons.
I think the main problem that turned audiences off was probably was the title; being called Ultimate Spider-man gave viewers a VERY specific idea that it was an adaption of the beloved and very specific Ultimate Spider-man comics... which it wasn't in any way. Which isn't a bad thing for it to be different, but that marketed it wrong.
If it were called something like, Spider-man And His Amazing Team or Spider-man: Agent Of Shield or something like that, I think it would have gone over much better because people would have been expecting something unique. But then again, I loved tasm 1 and 2 and those movies are only starting to be loved by the masses. So sometimes, it's not for everyone but specific viewers.
I completely agree, I think the fact it is tied to the USM comics really upset lots of people as they wanted to see what they love come to the life. Also Spider-man: Agent of Shield is an amazing name that they really should have gone with.
The series matures as the seaspns pass so it kinda fixes all its problems by the end which I think was the intent

Regardless of everything else I did enjoy the contest of champions.

Loved this show growing up. Sure it's not the best but it was fun and we finally got some different characters for Spidey to interact with. Definitely got a soft spot for it.

In all seriousness even back when this show came out, when I was like 11 or 12 yrs old, I had complicated feelings about it. I didn't necessarily mind the fourth wall breaks or chibi cutaways, after all I love the 2000s Teen Titans, but it felt like too much every episode. I
remember getting tired of the helicarrier as a setting pretty much every episode, especially in the later seasons. I also wanna preface that I don't mind Harry being Venom NOW, but as a kid it pissed me off for some reason lol

It's worth noting that, while not a direct adaption, the cartoon, particularly in the early seasons, does draw a fair amount from the Ultimate run, I'm not the most knowledagble but I believe SHIELD did have a higher presence in 1610 Peter's life than 616's, though I think not as big as in the show, as for Venom and Goblin, Venom was man made in the ultimate universe, albeit by Richard Parker and Eddie Brock Sr, while the Ultimate Green Goblin is a hulking monster, with Fire powers I believe, effectively the cartoon gave him the appearence of the Ultimate Goblin and the arsenal of the classic one.
I also, perhaps because of the prevelance of the 'cameo' episodes, drew comprarisons between this show and Batman The Brave and the Bold, it's just that B&B took from more of the sliver age to fit the lighthearted tone of the show.
Honestly, while not perfect, I think a fair portion of the hate USM and it's sister show, Avengers Assemble get are from fans of the shows they replaced; Spectacular Spider Man and Earth's Mightest Heroes, which are admittedlty far superior shows.

In one of the origins of venom Deadpool gets his hands on venom first, he puts the suit on and venom reads his mind and if you didn’t know this anyone who reads Deadpool’s mind goes crazy, Deadpool realizes it’s trying to read his mined so he quickly takes it off and puts it back were he finds it then spider man just so happens to find it and put it on. Now you might be wondering how does this tie into venom being obsessed with spider man, well if you didn’t know Deadpool has a huge obsession with spider man, so when venom bonded with Deadpool he also became super obsessed with spider man and that is why venom is so crazy about him and why he’s crazy.

This show does hold a place in my heart. I really enjoyed it when I was young. It introduced me to a bunch of characters outside of the popular avengers team, and I loved the initial team in the series, of which this series was my first introduction. I lost interest as the seasons went on (and I grew up) as it felt like characters outside of Peter barely even showed up/did anything and the plots felt less interesting (from my memory), but I can't deny that I enjoy the show, the characters and all it did touch on. I would love to give the show a watch again now that I'm older. Thanks for the great video!
As someone who watched this for the first time later in life, I can say that it has survived the test of time, the first season really was enjoyable, tho I cannot talk about the rest of it since I haven't seen it yet. But yes I highly recommend a rewatch. And no worries I'm glad you liked it
It’s not the best but for all its flaws I can’t say it was bad.
It had its bad moments( spider man’s pet hulk, the Jessie crossover, it’s treatment of nova)
It had its great moments(contest of champions, the take on spider verse, the ghost of uncle Ben saving Peter from nightmare)
It even got a couple laughs out of me(the sinister six lightbulb joke, doom giving big ups to his boy Spider-Man, Howard the ducks eternal superiority over Spider-Man, and Deadpool’s episode(hehe, you said traps))
I can’t say it was a good series or a bad one but I think it earned the right to exist.

Love the video and all, but I think you don't know about the Ultimate Universe (Earth 1610) from the comics. As you seem surprised upon learning Venom was created using Parker DNA and the fact that Green Goblin is massive.

you keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means. If the other super heroes were having cameos then they'd just be in the background, or get single scene or line, a very small role not worth noting in a plot synopsis, however these "cameo episodes" feature heroes and villains with major roles in their episodes, they're not cameos, they're guest stars.
while true, it would make more sense to call them guest stars or special Guests, cameo episode sounded better when it came to the video so I just went with that
I do like the ideas and the villains. The only thing that I was not keen on was the constant cut away jokes. However, I like how they had different villains and the sinister six.
I understand that, the cut away jokes did sometimes feel overused and maybe placed in some spots that didn't need them, and agreed the villain variety was wondering, a good few I had never heard of so I was learning as tho I was a kid watching spiderman for the first time

Season 1 was good. The stuff with doc ock, venom. Carnage and goblin. There were some great episodes like the body swap ones. But the show could have been a lot better. I don't HATE it but it isn't some underrated gem. I just wish the characters were expanded on better.

Btw, I'm not trying to say your opinion is invalid, this video is fantastic. Norman osborn and the goblin are probably the best written characters to me. But nobody I've ever seen on this site has praised season one, in fact most say the show didn't find its footing til web warriors. But I think season 1 was where the shoe excelled. Although the spiderverse events were good and as I said, there were good episodes.
I would suggest any of the other spiderman shows except the new one and also the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. They are very good. The 90s show isn't for me entirely but it's good and the NTV and Spectacular shows are in my opinion, perfect. But I'm sure you've heard this before. So I don't want to annoy you

i personally think this ultimate Spider-Man show was really bad and plus as a huge fan ultimate Spider-Man comics this felt like a big slap in the face for people like me who loved those comics growing up, this show took that source material and threw it away for freaking garbage stories that nobody liked myself included, and to make the matters worse this show replaced a great show like Spectacular Spider-Man which was doing everything fantastic and did Spider-Man peter parker character justice at least my opinion. My point is in general this show as just freaking garbage and didn't any of the characters justice not Peter parker not Mary jane nobody was done great on this show but treated like garbage at least in my opinion. Also another thing I hated about this show was butchering of my favorite character Spider-girl mayday parker and instead of doing her character we got a gender swap version of Spider-girl who wasn't mayday parker but basically ultimate Jessica Drew Spider-woman but not Spider-woman which is infuriating in itself because she's technically a clone of peter parker spider-man who's also gender swap version of Spider-Man too and the fact we never got to see her on this show just proves my point more and more that this show as a complete cash grab and made for garbage at least in my opinion.

I think I’ll just always despise the name of the show. I read the comics when I was younger and went into the show thinking it would be like the ultimate comics but dialed down and that just isn’t the case.
Ye I heard that the name threw a lot of fans off and made them dislike the show, stand alone I think the show is perfectly fine, but because it uses the same name as the USM comics it isnt received as well
I honestly could never bring myself to hate this show. I grew up with it and I doubt I'd be as much of a Spider-Man fan without it's influence (same for Spectacular Spider-Man, but less so since I watched Ultimate more).
It also introduced me to characters I'd otherwise never have heard of, like Nova and White Tiger, who I now remember fondly. So thanks for the memories Ultimate, you'll always be a precious nostalgia trip for me.
Sadly I didn't get to watch it as a child, But watching is now I can see how I would have loved this when I was younger. I'm glad it brings back such good memories for you

As a Spider-Man fan I think this show is okay. The comedy can be hit and miss but then again it's all in Peter's head and as it kept going on they used it less and less as he grew up which makes sense, the characters were interesting if not too many of them but hey that's the problem with a lot of shows especially marvel, the action scenes and animation were fantastic, and in my opinion it had to the spirit of Spider-Man especially with him wanting to help people and reform villains. And there's a lot of stuff that was taken from this series and put into other Spider-Man media. Like the spider verse, Jameson being a news podcaster like in Spider-Man PS4, Harry becoming Venom, and having Spider-Man in a larger MCU universe. Also the villains were pretty fun if a little goofy like Loki, but then again turn Spider-Man into a pig or Thor into a frog does sound like something god of mischief would do. Overall I'd like to show but I will acknowledge its very flawed

I think ultimate spiderman is a good show fans should view it as a comidic interpretation of the the character that doesn't take itself seriously kinda like the Lego batman movie being a comidic interpretation of batman that doesn't take itself seriously, best way I can describe ultimate spiderman is pure fun the show is really entertaining, if you're looking for a spiderman show that is deep with drama and serious moments and big character developments then you're gonna be disappointed with ultimate spiderman, ultimate spiderman is comidic and it embrace it,it's not trying to be eagy and dark and mature it's just trying to be fun, comidic and entertaining

A lot of people hate on Ultimate Spiderman, I decided to to give the show a watch and I actually end up watching every single episode and i was intrigued by things this show had to offer. There’s actually a lot of reasons why a person should watch/like Ultimate Spiderman.
First off the animation is great. Like serious anyone can say that this show is bad but you half to admit that this is the best animation of any marvel cartoon.
Drake Bell does the voice of Peter Parker/Spiderman. I used to love watching Drake and Josh. Also I just realized something interesting. Josh Keaton voices Peter Parker/ Spiderman in Spectacular. Drake Bell does Peter Parker/Spiderman in Ultimate. Josh Keaton/Drake Bell. Drake and Josh. Also, Spiderman/Peter Parker talks to the audience. His voice actor Drake Bell played Drake Parker on Drake and Josh. He and his brother would talk to the audience in the opening of all episodes.
The fourth wall breaking and immature stuff was a bit much but it kind of grew on me. I mean c’mon its Disney what did you expect. There was some seriousness In between the forth wall breaks and immature jokes.
The humor in this show is kind of similar to the humor in the original Teen Titans animated series.
Ultimate Spider-Man is pretty much like Batman The Brave and The Bold:

Both shows are goofy like with some maturity and seriousness in them. Albeit BTBAB is more mature than Ultimate Spiderman.
Both shows had dark episodes. BTBAB dark episodes were Dawn of the Deadman, Trials of the Demon, Chill of the Night, The Shadow of The Bat. Siege of Starro part 1 and 2. Ultimate Spider-Man dark episodes were Blade, The Howling Commandos, The Symbiote Saga arc, The New Sinister Six part 1 and 2.
Both series have episodes that feature Morgan Le Fey. BTBAB Day of the Dark Knight. US Halloween Night at the Museum.

J.K. Simmons played J. Jonah Jamison in the Sam Raimi Spiderman movies and does the voice for J. Jonah Jamison in Ultimate Spiderman.
There’s an episode called Spidah Man we’re he went to Boston and became their hero. It parodied Batman. Spiderman has a spider cave, he has a butler named Charles. He has a sidekick called Ollie. He had different spider merchandise to assist him with crime in that episode. In fact in that very episode his sidekick was Steel Spider, and he was the one causing trouble because Spiderman rejected him. That’s like the Incredibles where Buddy Pine became Syndrome and wanted revenge on Mr. Incredible who wanted to be his sidekick but was rejected.
I heard a lot of people don’t like this version of Green Goblin. I didn’t really mind him. This one is more ruthless, evil and stronger. He even has his own background music. Hes a combination of the goblin from the ultimate comics and the regular goblin. It was cool that he became The Spider Goblin.
It’s also cool that those hydra soldiers are goblins themselves.
Norma Osborn as Green Goblin went back to classic Goblin look.
Ultimate Goblin was pretty cool.
Doc Ock going through different changes throughout the series was cool.
Deadpool teaming up with Spiderman and breaking the forth wall along with Spiderman was fun and funny.
The SpiderVerse episodes were done really well.
Stan Lee appears in the series as the janitor at the high school.
Spiderman losing his powers in the two part series finale is a callback to him losing his powers in Spider Man 2 (2004). Also in one of the Christmas episodes Peter threw away his costume in the trash and walked away. Peter threw away his costume in the trash and walked away in the 2004 movie.
Electro, Spyder Knight, and Wolf Spider are voiced by Chris Barnes who did the voice for 90s Spiderman.
In Savage Spiderman, Spiderman turns into a monster a call back to him becoming Man Spider from 90s Spiderman.
Moon Knight appears in this series and he’s voiced by the same guy who voiced Batman from The Brave and The Bold.
The Web Warriors: Spider Man, Iron Spider, Scarlet Spider, Kid Arachnid and Agent Venom are pretty much like TMNT. Like, they have the same personalities.
Spider Man (Peter Parker) and Leonardo: Both are the leaders of the team and are the most responsible.
Iron Spider (Amodeous Cho) and Donatello: Both are the intellectual/geeky one of the group.
Scarlet Spider ( Ben Reily) and Raphael: Both are the tough one with the ruff attitude, and is always ready for a fight.
Kid Arachnid ( Miles Morales) and Micheangelo: Both are the youngest and likes to have fun.
Agent Venom ( Flash Thompson)and Casey Jones: Both are the rookie and are kind of out of the loop compared to the others. Like, Venom he’s not really a spider unlike the others. Casey Jones is human unlike the others who are turtles.
I’ve noticed some callbacks to Spectacular Spiderman:
Some of the characters in Ultimate Spiderman have their own color backgrounds. In TSSM intro, characters would have their own color backgrounds.
One time Peter said that I am the Spectacular Ultimate Spiderman. Porky Pig called him the Spectacular Ultimate Spiderman as well.
In US, Juggernaut bear hugged Spider Man and Spiderman made a comment about his breath. In SSM, Ox bear hugged Spiderman and Spiderman made a comment about his breath.
In the episode For Your Eyes Only, Nick Fury said my luck number when the number on the computer showed up. In Spectacular Spiderman, Doc Ock said my lucky number when that scientist told him the vault number.
In the episode Venomous, Venom had his hand on Spider-Man’s head and he got angry, jumped up and fought him. The same thing happened in the SSM episode Nature vs Nurture.
When Green Goblin was escaping, Spiderman ran out of web fluid and said “not a good time to run out of web fluid” He said the same thing when fighting sandman in the SSM episode Competition.
Alex o Hirn in Ultimate Spiderman looks very much like Seamore a kid that appeared in some episodes of Spectaular Spiderman.
Ava Ayala calls Peter Petey sometimes. Liz Allen from Spectacular calls Peter Petey. Both girls are also Hispanic.
In the episode Me Time, Spiderman fights Dr. Octopus at a carnival. In the same episode he takes a kid hostage and says that that it’s Spider-Man’s weakness that he can’t see anyone hurt. In SSM episode, Reaction, Dr. Octopus fights Spiderman at a carnival. He takes Liz Allen hostage and says that he can’t see anyone hurt.
Doc Ock says coupe de gras in this series. He said it in Spectacular Spiderman.
The episode I am Spider Man was about a Spiderman musical play that MJ was doing and Flash Thompson was to play Spiderman. Flash Thomson dresses up as Spider-Man for the play. In spectacular, there was a play going on in a couple episodes, Flash Thompson dressed up as Spider-Man to prove that anyone can pretend to be Spiderman.

Dee Bradley Baker reprises his role as Dr. Curt Connors in Ultimate Spiderman. He previously provided the voice for him in Spectacular Spiderman.
Ben Diskin voiced Blood Spider, Skarr, Spider Ham, Morbius in Ultimate Spiderman. He was the voice actor for Venom in Spectacular Spiderman.
In the episode, Nightmare on Christmas in one of the dream sequence, he goes up against the enforcers made up of Montana, Fancy Dan and Rhino. He went up against them in Spectacular. Montana has a southern accent just like he did in Spectacular. The animation for that scene was also cool.
I believe this is also the only Spiderman series that had an actual series finale to conclude the series. 90s Spiderman, Spiderman Unlimited, MTV Spiderman, and Spectacular Spiderman were all canceled and left off cliffhangers.
Also marvel Spider-Man the 2017 show didn’t have a cliffhanger ending either
@@BestBeastWarrior Oh wow I forgot that show. I didn’t really cared for that show. I think it was complete crap. It had a lot of problems with it.
They made everybody or almost everybody a genius. Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Anya, Harry Osborn, Norman Osborn, Allstair Smythe, Otto Octavius, Dr Curt Connors, etc. It makes Peter Parker feel overshadowed.
Also the jokes in this series weren’t really the best and the animation was atrocious.
It also felt like some things were rushed like the symbiote episodes and making his friends Spiderman just like that.
I did started watching it when it but I just lost interest and stopped watching it altogether.
At least Ultimate Spiderman had better animation, and a better story. It was way more entertaining.
