  • This video is a job we did to replace the broken eye on a hydraulic Apron cylinder rod for a Caterpillar 631 Wheel Tractor Scraper. The eye was completely torn apart and our customer requested the eye to be replaced. This shows the step by step process to replace the eye on the hydraulic cylinder rod including machining, welding, milling & boring. We also install the new bushing by press fitting with our 150T tonne hydraulic press. What do you think of the finished part?
In this video we are using:
    TM-26120G Lathe
    BM-63VE Milling machine
    WIA 500i Weldmatic welder
    HMP-150T Hydraulic press

OK I just found this video.. I loved the centering plug idea with the 4 jaw chuck.. Thats the first thing I'm going to make when me new lathe shows up in the New Year! I might even make it from a tailstock alignment bar that fits the headstock end. Then turn the long straight part down to a point, assuming the hole in the 4 jaw is bigger than the spindle bore.

Now off to find the biggest lathe-job on RUclips......
