I’m Coptic and literally no one in the family nor family friends ever made that dish. I never heard of it until now, lol. We’ve been missing out! Our family has been in California since the early ‘60s, long before the 2nd ever U.S. Coptic Church opened up in Los Angeles , St Mark’s.
I'm a Coptic living in California, too! 😊 Sadly, my kids are quite picky eaters, so they don't enjoy a lot of Egyptian food. As a result, many of the dishes I used to love have become a rarity since no one else at home will eat them with me. Maybe someone in your family never liked kabab halla, and it got lost throughout the years 🙈 I encourage you to try it out. You will love it 🥰
