      @@doruka890 I think there was a greater chance they both finish 2-4 or 3-4 had he tried to defend. Hamilton had more pace all day than Sainz, Perez was catching him once Perez was in 2nd, and there’s no way leclerc holds everyone back on those tires. Maybe they do ok in the dogfight, but there’s also the risk of a wreck with how tight they were. Giving Sainz free air seems safest for points honestly.

    Leclerc is only now realising what fighting for a championship with Ferrari means against a fierce competitor. You basically have two opponents: The other team and their drivers and your own team. Alonso experienced it against Seb and Red Bull and then Seb experienced it against Lewis and Mercedes. Ferrari has to get themselves sorted or they will never win a championship again unless they are the only ones getting a rule change right. (like Brawn for example)

    • @benn87
      @benn87 2 года назад +14

    • @leonlevell5359
      @leonlevell5359 2 года назад +5

      You see I disagree in the fact I just think team orders are wrong. At the end of the day Leclerc can bitch and moan all he wants but if you’re so quick and being held up get past him. Actually race. If the team won’t let you past do some actual racing rather than be gifted it. When you’re on different strategies fair enough putting in team orders but when on the same pit strategy they should be allowed to race or even forced to race why do we want to see them just let the car past to watch one just drive off into the distance and have no actual racing?

    • @marufrahman3209
      @marufrahman3209 2 года назад +13

      @@leonlevell5359 so bottas letting lewis pass and checo letting max is bad. If you really want to win wdc you have to give team orders. By fighting you have let lewis got closer.

    • @leonlevell5359
      @leonlevell5359 2 года назад +3

      @@marufrahman3209 as I said different strategies I’m fine with it. But otherwise let them race one of the best seasons in recent memory was when Nico and Hamilton were allowed to battle for wins. Once you just start letting the one driver past all the time you get a situation of Hamilton and Bottas which in my opinion is boring. Sainz put his car on pole, Leclerc messed up his final lap and spun. Why should Sainz then forfeit his race when Leclerc wants to get past in the race

    • @gelmir7322
      @gelmir7322 2 года назад +19

      Leclerc could win without team orders. He was ahead and had the better pace.
      But Ferrari left him hanging out with an old hard tyres while everyone were in the softs.
      Made him vulnerable not just to Sainz but to Perez and Hamilton as well.

  • @gabrielrascol3101

    • @cidiracing7481
      @cidiracing7481 2 года назад +6

      Is he doing a better strategy though? If he would have followed the instructions in Monaco it is quite possible that Ferrari would have won. And today there was still a possibility of a 1-2.
      Should Ferrari have pit Leclerc under safety car? Absolutely. But while the "hold up the cars behind you" is a risky strategy Ferrari might have been still able to salvage a 1-2 that way. Leclerc could have been faster on the hard tyres than the cars behind if Sainz holds them up and they are fighting for position. If he does that for 4-5 laps Leclerc could have had enough of a gap for Sainz to do the remaining laps at full speed. Perez and Hamilton didn't get that far up ahead of Leclerc on their fresh soft tyres. Leclerc had no chance to defend against Perez and Hamilton, but Sainz could have held them behind him.
      If Ferrari is going to win the championsh it's Lecerlc and not Sainz that will win. Sainz is too prone to mistakes as he has shown again today. Yes they are now close in points, but while Lecerlc lost many because of technical issues, Sainz lost most of his points due to mistakes. Luckily for him both RB had car damage. Sainz needs to play ball and follow team instructions.
      That being said, I'm happy for Sainz that he finally got a win.

      @cidiracing7481 2 года назад +2

      @@YourLoyalDeserter They should have pitted Leclerc yes, but at this stage in bad situations like this one they need to take risks and maximise the points for Leclerc. Especially on a day where Verstappen is giving up huge points. A P2 or P3 in that race for Leclerc over a P4 could be the deciding factor at the end. Purely from a team point of view, a victory for Sainz just gives them another trophy, they barely made up any ground in the championship.

      Whose to blame? The guy that went for a gap or the guy that didn't look when closing a gap? It's not rocketscience.
      We call out Stroll plenty of times for this - and Russell's usually better then this, but the bad start must've made him want to overdrive to recover and lost oversight or something. What more do you want from him!? I've not seen LeClerc be able to do that yet this season without blaming the "team strategy." That's generally not a good indicator for a driver (seems like a little thing, actually a big thing). Sainz defying team orders seems to work for him. Choosing his own stuff has done him some favours this year. For example, his first win.
    Also amazing from Mick, love to see it. The interview with Vettel afterwards was really cute.
    It's also great to hear Zhou is doing fine. That's the only thing I wanted to hear until we finally got to hear it and seeing him was just amazing. Great to hear the halo did its job once again. It looked really scary. We love to see drivers safe. I still want to know how he jumped over the tyres, that looked insane.

    THIS is my absolute FAVORITE program to watch after an F1 weekend. It's like tasting all the good again. And yes, that includes the bad, because the bad too gives flavor to a weekend. I remember being VERY angry with you for brushing off some serious bad luck for max, and that made me as fuming as you were now.... So hey, i can relate ;-))
    You are allowed to be fan of whomever you wish! And I will enjoy your victories and pains, as you do ours.
    I can never ever get enough of the memes after a race.
    Matt, you deserve the Gold medal for this program, and I hope you will never stop. This golden nugget needs to live on!
    The most important ingredient for me, is how respectful you are. You can curse Ferrari, and I didn't feel any disrespect in any way. Pure fan frustration. You are awesome!
    Also, please, when you have the chance, voice out that people need to be silent when they don't like some driver, and that the "boo" is outdated. Respectful silence is best when you don't support someone. And nobody is teaching that. Everybody is either ignoring the booing or condemning it, but nobody is the voice of "how to respectfully show disapproval in sport as a fan" Perhaps we need No/Yes flags for fans. Little hand held ones. It's okay to show one's opinion, but it's the how that matters.

    Sainz had some luck (Max's body damage, Charles being stiffed on pits) he did have a super holding off of Max (sure didn't matter but he did it) and this is second time he ignored Ferrari orders and it paid off for him. tbh he wasn't quicker than Charles or Max but hey its racing, he did well, kudos to him. Verstappen drove fabulously, but there were other factors which helped him secure P7. Let me explain. During the safety car, AM boxed both the cars and put them on mediums instead of softs. Had they put the drivers on softs, they both would've scored points. Vettel said as much in his post race interview that had they put him on the softs, he'd have kept P7.

    • @Hani_Santa

      Facts, Max was unlucky and lucky yesterday. Also the fact Ferrari again messed up Leclerc's obvious chance to win. He only lost 6 points Vs Leclerc.

    • @subarnosinha8042
      @subarnosinha8042 2 года назад

      @SanjayBennett not at that stage, it won't have. There is a lot of rubber laid down on the track and the fuel load is significantly lower too. Both of them together contribute towards a much lower tyre deg and Seb himself conceded in the post race interview that softs would've been the better option in the final stint.
