      It's so stupid tho, some corners are blind if you get just a bit of understeer you end up crossing the line without being able to do anything about it, and you can get a penalty for a corner where you didn't even gained any time, maybe even lost some. And on top of that those new cars have not only bigger tyres but huge wheel covers, the drivers don't even know if they crossed the line or not because you can't even see it. The amount of warnings / penalties clearly show how dumb those track limits were in this GP. It's already hard in quali to stay within the white line on the last two corners, but during the race with on top of that old hard tyres it's ridiculous to give someone a penalty for crossing a line by sometimes literaly 2cm

    The track limits are the track limits. The FIA rules always clearly stated the track limit is the white line. Good that it is being consistently enforced instead of this "well on that turn you can extend the track and you are fine but on those 2 you can't".

    • @BiggieTrismegistus
      @BiggieTrismegistus 2 года назад +8

      They were consistent for the whole weekend too. Both F3 and F2 were held to the same track limits. If we want them to get rid of sausage kerbs (and they should) drivers are going to have to start respecting the lines,

    • @cidiracing7481
      @cidiracing7481 2 года назад +1

      @@BiggieTrismegistus I don't think they should get rid of sausage kerbs for the slow corners. Not until they rework their rules of "giving time gained back", because let's face it. When a driver is ahead and another driver just behind them and is cutting a corner, the time gained is that they keep their position while the FIA only requires them to reestablish the gap. And since drivers can cut multiple times before they get penalties they will absure the system.

    To answer the question about Track limits.
    I don't particularly care whether they are Harshly enforced or loosely enforced. What I most care about is *consistency*
    It's the consistency above all else that matters. And not just within one Grand Prix, but over the course of the Season. If they want to be harsh on the interpretation, that's fine so long as they apply the same standard each and every time. We as fans can accept that there will always be marginal calls that generate discussion, So long as the rules are seen to be applied fairly and equally, then we can accept it.

Thats 4 people who wouldve been ahead of him so at best he wouldve finished 10th. Also you could make a case that if norris didnt have PU issues he mightve nicked him as well. If anything. ocon deserves far more props but since casual "fans" only know the name of schumacher, they hasten to his talentless son to relive their pathetic past.

    Just let the gravel traps start within 1 car width of the white line like in Zandvoort.
    No sausage curbs or double line of more aggressive curbs, no run offs or carpet.... just plain and simple old school gravel traps that you end up in with your outside tires before you reach the white line with the inside tires. "Carlos, let Charles pass for the championship".
      Although knowing Ferrari, they would have allowed both drivers to fight, and Sainz would've won while Leclerc finishes in P3 (after losing time battling Sainz, and then being overtaken by Verstappen).

I'd much rather they give them one warning and then 1 second for every time they go off. Seems a bit more adequate, especially if gaining time isn't even a factor anymore. You had drivers get penalties or warnings for going off even when they were losing out, and that's a bit silly to me.
