Hi. Great videos! I sent a few boards to someone who messed them up. Each board was sent out with just the touch issue and returned either completely dead or with other issues such as proximity sensor. I've watched several of your videos and read some of your comments to other users. You commented in one of your videos that sometimes things on the other side of the board move around from the heat and cause these types of issues. Is there any way to lessen this or prevent it completely? I know you're running on more of a strict time schedule, but for someone that has all the time in the world to spend on one board, is there any extra steps that can be taken to prevent this from happening? I appreciate any help you might be able to offer as I'm thinking to try to get into micro soldering, but am trying to gain as much knowledge as possible before attempting on some broken boards I currently have. Thank you!
Before the touch IC repair, I started picking the row of components clean that are between the front flex connector and the CPU shield. That eliminates most all of any front facing top flex issues. I also pick the touch ID components clean between the home button connector and the edge of the board. That eliminates any touch ID issues. The biggest problem, I think, are components on the other side of the board becoming detached. That rubbery coating changes shape as the solder under the components is molten and it raises them up off the board.
Super video... thanks. I have question. My iphone 6 plus ic failure was repaired more than 4 times ,but it occours again. What can be the reason? What is your experiance?
I bought these on eBay.. I'd have to scroll back a long time to find them though, so - as long as you buy "direct heat" stencils you should be in a good shape.
I just watched your video on your backlight repair for the 6s Plus posted on November 29 2016 I am having the same issue after fixed a cracked screen on my own trying to save money now I don't know if I should try to do what you did in the video to fix it but I don't know if it was specifically that bottom connecter anyway I would love to get this fixed
Hey. Doing good man! I've been doing water damage for a couple years just east of you in between you and Kansas City. Just purchased a freezing separator to try and get in on some of this edge money!
Hi Jason, it's Adrian here all the way from South Africa. I have an iPhone 6plus which has no touch response unless the phone is bent in a certain way. The screen does not show any flickering of any sort. Is this issue caused the touch ic and requires the jumper repair? Thank you.
Hmmmmmm... I wind up using the iron with solder for the most part. Then alcohol after that if I want to try to be really clean.. I'll probably try ultrasonic one day =)
Hello sir, I have an iphone 6 with touch problem, no water damaged. I changed the two ic but now the phone doesn't turn on! But it consume 0.45A, no more, no less, just 0.45A ! Can you give me some advice please! I used 350°C to changed the two ic. I remove the two ic but its the same. Thank you very much.
Hi, Jason! Where are the iPhone 6 touch IC for sale anyway, I don't know which are reliable in China. Greetings from Holland. keep up the good work. Jan
Old vid, new comment, sorrey. No one really mentions this in their videos so I'll ask: When you're refreshing the solder on the board pads - are you actually touching the board, or just hovering over it with a blob hanging? And in case of the latter, any distinct exceptions?
Hi, I am just learning, I was trying to replace the u2402 meso. But lost 4 pins, can you please advise where I can find pin connections ways? Thank you
if i repair my ip6 because it was bent by a door. but it fix after sometimes. my ip is unresponsive and it gets worst time to time. How much will it cost? mybe the issue is the touch ic
Hello nice work, thanks for this greatfull microsoldering stuff! I tried also to fix an iphone 6, with touch issues, i changed the touch ic, but problem was not gone. I have on middle of LCD a line of cubic bars. On this position, touch is not working/broken. FPC Connetors are well on first look. Changed another LCD to try, same problem. I think there is another chip what is cause this touch problem! Any idea or tip for me? Thanks amd best regards. Thumbs up
Hey Jason man great work as always, you know I'm trying to figure out finally who came up with this jumper trick since I've never heard of it before but as soon as you show it on a video, the guy from microsoldering also showcased it on a video claiming it has been doing it for 4 months and he was not ready to "show it to the world but it is catching up so" I really want to know if there is a community were you guys debate about this kind of stuff or you just come up with it at the same time? Lol
Jason, where do you get your iPhone 6 LCD screens? I have been looking aliexpress and they seem to have some good deals with good ratings. but after carefully looking at the reviews I notices a lot of the reviews had the exact same picture. I have a feeling they are all not very good. I don't want to buy trash, but I also don't want to spend a fortune. I want to give the people a good deal you know? so where do you get your screens?
I try very hard to not buy screens.. when I do, I normally order from Gadgetfix and am faced with the same defect odds as just about anywhere else. There may be someone else reading this with a better suggestion tho.
my iphone 6 suddenly out of nowhere has a section at the bottom that just does not respond to touch at all, so cant swipe from bottom to get floating icons also any tiny icons at the bottom of the screen are useless, had a guy try 3 screens and all the same result
Can an iphone 6 screen cause no touch when the phone is twisted? A new screen fixes it but there is no physical damage to the screen that loses touch when twisted.
@@ststele Thanks for the reply, I know you are very busy nowadays. I have only ever seen the 6/6+ with touch loss regardless of screen being used, this one threw me off. It's the first time I've seen a 6 lose touch from twisting and it end up being the screen, usually a new screen will do the same thing.
So I keep getting my ic touch repaired (this past month) and don't know what to do. The first time I got it repaired it worked for about two days and the second time it worked for about 3 hours. Is it just apple or the people fixing my phone?
+Lily W +Lily W I'm betting whoever is replacing the ICs is leaving out the M1 jumper which is the true cure for this problem. Hopefully it wasnt me! :-) if Apple is replacing the phone for you, the refurbished model they give you suffers from the same flaw and has a high likelihood of acting up.
I failed 3 times to change touch ic, it made me crazy Jute after removing the IC, the board don't turn on and flickering it consume 0 from 0.20A I am doing a lot of micro soldering but i don't know what happened with touch IC, please help i have 3 dead phones Thank you
Thanks :) I do more pulling than I do prying with this tool. The pressure goes between the blade and the screen so it would be very difficult to find marks from my tool on the housing. I totally understand tho :D
Too many coming in for me to keep up with so I have to slow them down. There are many shops doing it for less though and as long as they put in a solid jumper to the M1 pad (on the 6+) and use good solder, it is more robust than a replacement model from Apple that will only last as long as the last one did. They're only covering the 6+ tho.. :-/
Love the shirt... right about the jitters with the repairs :D
Hehe.. thanks

Tips on cleaning dried flux in stencil holes? Looks like you just swipe soldering iron on it. I've used paint brush cleaner before

STS Telecom That doesn't leave it clogged at all?

Hey! Please tell me what's the difference between your other 6 plus touch ic videos
Probably only the words other than it being a 6 with visual failure.
Hwy i have an iphone 6 , touch ic replaced due to no touch but it still loses touch sometimes and i have to lock it and unlock for it to work again
How much would it cost to do the same process to a 6 plus?

Yes, it’s very common on the 6/6+. Especially with the original Apple screens.
