Definitely they are really good cars. Drive nice on road, good off road, tow great, good space inside. The main problem now days Is trying to get a good one. Obviously there getting old now and most have over 150k so obviously there going to be fairly worn out.
If you’re changing a tyre on one side of these you’ll need to do both on that axel to prevent damage - ideally you should have the same make of tyre on each axle and tyre changes should be carried out as an axle pair as a minimum. If the front need changing I would be inclined to change all 4 four to match.
Check for water leaks under the rear seat (lift and feel the carpet) and front foot wells (just press carpet and see if it feels damp). Landrover used lots of plastic trim fasteners that go through the body shell. With age some of these plastic fasteners break and leave holes in the under side of the vehicle body shell that allow water in when exposed to road water.
Bought a freelander 1 not long ago and absolutely love it. We’re thinking of getting a FL2 now as well as something a bit posher for the Mrs and her trips to the country stores 😂
It's something to be aware of, but I wouldn't call it common. Yes, sometimes they do fail, but it's rather the exception than the rule. Generally they're pretty robust. As for being expensive, you can get a steering lock emulator for under £20,rather than getting ripped off at the dealers.
There are hundreds of these out on the internet, overpriced with starship enterprise milage. As you say you can get the GS for a lot less.. Nice vehicle tho..
Not top of the range, tyres must be all the same, and tread the same, no mixing of tyres, belts are best done at 7yrs not the 10yrs Landrover says, insurance is problem with these cars now, due to insurance companies have put them all in one pool, due to Range rovers being stolen easy.
I think there is One model higher than this, but I've never seen any out there, agree regarding tyres being matched on all corners, insurance for me was not that bad, but I'm 57 and live in Cornwall. Thanks for the comments Steve 😁
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes Unfortunately there's two price's on all car's. Private sales and dealer sales. A dealer would offer know more than £6-7k max but re-sell it for £10-12k and that's a rip off. totally agree Phil, And thanks for the heads-up 😁
Yes to save wearing out the HALDEX 4x4 system..

7:08 Have a 2014 Sd4, brilliant family / tow car. On 120k now. 😊 Updated dash and lights make it look more modern in the 2013 onwards models.
Sounds Nice 😁
Get the 2013 Refresh everytime worth the slight extra has much more modern interior and better looking.
Good to know 😉
Lokking forward to this now 😁
Amazing Motor..... But Not Cheap!
freelander 2 sd4 automatic best car i have owned the majority of service and repairs you can do yourself
Thanks for the comments 😁
It's missing some optional extras like independent entertainment controls for rear passengers.
Thanks
I have a 2012 same spec model 190k still going strong...
Good to know 😁
Prices have dropped a good bit compared to a year ago. Plus that's a pre-facelift model which is less desirable.
that's a mid facelift, there was 3 designs
Watch out for "steering column locked" message. It disables the vehicle and can be very expensive to fix. It's a common fault on these.
Many thanks 😉

Make sure that rear wheel bearing is not a HUM FROM THE BUM! or you will be in for an expensive rear diff change
Known fault on these.
The rear diff was serviced as part of the last big service, so hopefully it's fine, but thanks for the heads-up Gary 😁
If you have to change the rear diff it costs over £5,000 I couldn’t believe it!
8k without checking anything. Private

You didn't show much of the inside.
@@Bob-kb5pv Not sure there was much more to show? I showed the boot space, rear seating area, front seating area, dash area.
Road tax now 320 pa
Bloody Madness! 🙃
951 euros here in Ireland
Not top of the range. That would be the HSE Lux.
I cannot imagine what else they could have put in the LUX that this doesn't have! but thanks fior the comment Ray 😁
It was the top of the range for the model year. The HSE Lux was the run out face lifted 2013 -15 model year.
@@ianbeale2527 Cheers Ian 😁
The lux had reversing camera and better premium leather interior
@@IanAsh-gy1te19 inch wheels to? Not 100% on that.

£6k max. It's still a Landrover and no matter the service history it's still a Landrover..
You won't buy the 2.2 SD4 HSE with these miles for £6k David, they are £10k on eBay right now!

The 2.2 is one of land rovers, or ford's should I say, better efforts, quite reliable if looked after. Or at least mine is

It hasn't got a enormous boot space it pretty small space for a 4x4 you can't even fit a medium sized dog in there
I think you might if you roll back the devider 😉
I have a freelander 2 the actual space to the back of the seats is very limited
@@royogden549 I guess it's a case of what you need it for, and what you're comparing it to? I find it quite a large space personally.
