I followed their journey! It was sad & beautiful at the same time. I lost my son and husband 5 1/2 months apart from cancer and I had it played at both of their funerals Bec it explained everything I felt when I lost them. Eight years later I still cry when I hear it, but the tears feel different & there are times I can't listen to it! Beautiful reaction.
I’m so glad that you reacted to this beautiful, emotional song. Joey had filmed her story from when she was diagnosed and up to her final days. She had given birth to a daughter, Indiana, two years before she died. Indy, as they call her, was born with Down Syndrome. Joey was such a lovely woman and Mom that she did a completely unselfish act. She purposely distanced herself from Indy the last year of her life so that she would bond with her Daddy because Joey felt it would be a bit easier for Indy when she was no longer there. They have such an amazing love story that ended far too soon.
@@dianecourtney2724 Joey actually made a documentary of her last months and it was the most emotional yet beautiful documentary I’ve ever seen. Joey and Rory were an exceptional couple whose faith was the bedrock of how they lived their lives.
This Sandy Lawrence penned ballad finds Joey Feek singing of a dying wife reassuring her husband that he'll be okay when she's gone. "I was devastated, absolutely devastated when I heard it and what it meant and coming from the person who is leaving their loved one," Joey told The Boot regarding the song. "That concept was just something that I had never heard or thought of before, and it really struck me." Sandy Lawrence is a friend of Joey and Rory's. The songwriter, who has never had a cut recorded before, wrote the track when she was losing her mother. "She was watching her mother pass, and she was so badly needing her mother to tell her those words," Joey explained. "She needed affirmation that everything was going to be okay after her mom died and she wasn't able to get it from her, but she wanted to write this to leave to her son and to her husband and to let them know that if anything were to ever happen, everything is going to be okay when I'm gone." "When we recorded it, it was just magical," he added. "She came in while we were recording it in the studio and then I had her sing the harmony vocals on it with Rory and then when we shot the music video, it just seemed so fitting that she played the piano." In November 2015, Rory announced that Joey had terminal cancer and they were stopping all treatment. Following the disclosure of the diagnosis, fans of the duo started campaigning to get this song to the top of the iTunes charts. (Songfacts.com)
Rory Feek lives locally. He’s a lovely gentleman. My friend’s daughter used to babysit the daughter for Rory, & they host a lot on their farm. Lovely couple. Joey is missed by many, & her impact reverberates throughout our community.
So beautiful & amazing that she sang this 4 years before she passed away & that it would apply to herself. A friend had written it after losing their mother & Rory & Joey decided to record it in 2012. Then she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a couple years later & passed in 2016. The clips of Rory are as heartbreaking as her singing. There is another cool song similar to this by Glen Campbell. He had Alzheimer's & it was getting worse, so he cowrote & sang his last song. "I'm not gonna miss you", which spoke to his memory loss. Beautiful, heart wrenching song like this one. He passed 3 years after it's release.
What an emotional song and reaction!! I reacted the same way!! She died of cervical cancer in 2016. Her death hit me hard, because I am a survivor of cervical cancer. I was very lucky the doctors caught my early enough. I am so sorry for her family. Rory didn't know how real this song was going to be for him in just a few short years. Thank you for reacting to this song, Craig!!
Oh my goodness!! I'm barely able to see well enough to type this comment! Such a tear-jerker! I've been in that place of loss more than once in my 78 years on this earth, and it never, ever gets easier! Wishing all the best for her husband and child!!
What a beautiful lady - inside and out. Her voice is gorgeous and her personality was huge. I loved to watch their show and hear them sing. Beautiful couple. My prayers r with her family.
I lost my dad thurs morning. this has been hell on my momma. this is one of the songs she wants played when she says good by to him on tuesday. I will be playing the songs for her on my PA system. and hold her as she breaks down, and put on a fake smile for her. Im gonna try ....for her. Ron W. Pierce 6-4-46 -- 12-27-23 Im gonna miss you dad. ...if we only had more time. its just not fair.
This broke my heart when I first saw it... and it still does. Followed Joey's journey for a long time and being a nurse who spent a LOT of years helping with end of life care.... yeah, it brought back every time I held someone's hand as they took their last breaths, and held family members as they grieved.... including my own (both parents, and my favorite uncle). Joey showed so much courage, as Rory and Indy continue to do also.
Such a beautiful song, Joey didn't know this was to be her husband's reality soon when this was recorded. Heartbreaking, absolutely. Such a hard song to watch. I dread the day this happens in our relationship. We've been together 54 years and to think of an empty pillow beside me is too much to take. 😢😢 The reason I love watching you Craig, you're not afraid to show your true emotions. 🤗 Loved your reaction. You are one of a kind. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
She was an amazing artist and person. She only had 6 months after her cervical cancer returned. She was able to make it to her daughter's 2nd birthday. They filmed many hours of home movies so her daughter could view them as got older. If it makes you feel any better I probably cried harder than you did. I can't imagine this from the perspective of losing a spouse. I do know what it's like to lose someone to cancer. That pain is indescribable.
The comments below depict exactly what I was going to say..I'll just add that both of them were deeply religious and totally devoted to each other and their daughter, Indy..Rory also had 2 adult daughters from a previous marriage who both loved Joey and little Indy..they had so much love to give each other, Indy, Rory's other daughters, their family, friends and fans..Joey is deeply missed by all and is buried in a simple wooden casket, on their farm as that is what she wanted..thank you so much for reacting to this beautiful song ❤
So poignant and touching. I didn't know the story behind the song till I read it here. But it was perfect. Much love and respect for this little family, for country music -- the only genre brave enough to tackle these kind of emotions headon -- and for you, Craig, for showing us your heart. ❤
Thank you for playing a song from Joey and Rory! This is tough song. She was one beautiful young woman. Please try some other songs of theirs before she became sick. This beautiful Angel was such an inspiration so is her husband Rory. Thanks👍🏻❤️🇺🇸
I had the same reaction as you Craig when first I heard this song. She was such a beautiful and strong woman and the strength she had was awesome! Still miss her singing with him.
This song tugs at your heart like no other. It's the only video I can think of that affects my husband. He says it hurts to watch it and it does. After all this time it still brings a tear to my eyes. When I first heard of Joey's cancer diagnosis I prayed so hard for her to be cured. You could just tell by the way she and Rory looked at each other of the love they shared. The morning I heard Joey had passed away I started to cry but just for a second then I thought, Her suffering is over, shes in heaven now. Much love to her family. They were so blessed.
I enjoyed their music and their love story. It was a sick when she announced the cancer. I watched their love continue online. Their faith in God and their salvation was an inspiration. It was a horribly sad day when she passed yet a joyous day for she went Home.
WOW this woman is amazing. I've never heard her sing before but I my husband told me about her. I'm so glad I didn't pass this one by . Thank you for reviewing it.
I LOOOVE this song but it breaks me every time. It's too relatable. Sometimes when I'm really missing my best friend I listen to it and even though it hurts the end gives me hope that he's ok on the other side.
great reaction, i have listened to this song many times already and yet it still hits me like a sledgehammer every time, i lost my dad to cancer in 2004 and the pain never goes away and i lost my mum in 2016 to heart disesase and dementia, and ik 2021 i received the diagnosis that i have the same heart condition that my mum had, if you can find time, you should react to another of joey's songs "see you there" this is a song about her brother who was killed in a car accident on his way to the fair
The couple added their song “When I'm Gone,” a ballad that Joey Feek sang to her husband in 2012 on their “His and Hers” album, to their hymns project. While she wasn't sick yet when she initially recorded it, the song is from the perspective of someone who is dying comforting the one they will leave behind.
I often randomly saw Joey and Rory sitting in the audience during the CMA award shows when I'd pass through the living room. So I knew about her becoming ill. One instance, I remember seeing her with a headress on, because she didn't have hair. But I avoided listening to any of their songs until this past year. This was the song that I first listened to, and it absolutely wrecked me. Partially because I already knew what happened to her. I was spaced out and couldn't collect my thoughts for the entire day. Then I learned that this song was done well before she even got sick. It's sad how prophetic it was to them, personally.. Even the gravesite depicted in the video, near the house. Because she was buried on their home ranch, near their house, from what I've heard.
I live one town away from where she grew up, that poor family had so much tragedy, Joey lost her brother when he was 17 and then her. She did a song for her brother called See You There which is as great as this one
The song talks about daffodils. She died in the spring. Daffodils were bloomed by the fence line near the cemetery on their land were she was laid to rest
If you want to hear a song that they sang before they knew she was sick, try Cheater Cheater. They're so happy & fun loving! It's a great song! She's definitely amazing!! They both are!! R.I.P 🙏❤
Joey is buried in that copse of trees that you see early in the video. It is an old pioneer cemetery on their property. By the way, she sang this before she was diagnosed. I saw her and Rory in Ellensburg, WA in February 2013 and I was able to have a picture taken with the two of them.
nearly five years since i lost my mom and this song still hits so hard but in so many ways is true and even thou it was hard when she said it would be alright it still hurts and its a pain the never goes away you just learn to live with the pain and this song just true says it all
I became a widow when I was 22, after 4 years of my husband dying a slow painful death. I was left to raise our 3 year old daughter, who looked just like her Daddy, it was very hard, but we got thru it, slowly, but we did.
They made a documentary movie about Joey's fight with cancer called, "To Joey With Love". I have had it recorded for a while, but haven't had the courage to actually watch it. I know I'm going to ball like a baby. 😭😭😭
Idk if anyone has commented this yet, but this song was actually written by Joey and Rory’s friend Sandy Lawrence. She wrote it about her mother passing. Joey wasn’t diagnosed with cancer until a couple years later.
Life goes on but it takes forever to learn to live without them but that was one of the most beautiful and saddest songs I have ever heard. She was a very strong lady!
You are getting very close to "Brotherly Love" their bass singer, Bradley Walker was very good friends with Joey and Rory. This is a very beautiful song.😊❤
This song was 2 years before she knew she had cancer so she DID not know at that time and the song was written by her friend Linda whose mother had died. But still very eerie. Both Joey and Rory exceptional people.
There is one similar to this sung by a women named Jenn Bostic called Jealous of the Angels. It is her playing the piano in it. She wrote it in reference to losing her father in a car accident when she was ten years old. It is a beautiful song by her. Give it a listen….after you recover from this one.
This is a very emotional song. The timing of when it came out was very poignant. Today, Rory is still writing music and has performed a bit. His time though is totally devoted to their young daughter, Indiana. She was born with Downs Syndrome and before Joey became sick that last time, Joey did most of Indiana's care. When Joey knew that she wasn't going to get better, she slowly stepped back to let Indiana learn to rely on Rory. He later said that as hard as it must have been for Joey, it was one of the most precious and selfless gifts she gave him.
Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer in late 2015 and died of the disease in March 2016 Rory Lee Feek (born April 25, 1965) and Joey Feek (September 9, 1975 - March 4, 2016), who were husband and wife. Both members of the duo were vocalists and songwriters, with Rory also playing acoustic guitar. Rory Lee Feek had written singles for other artists prior to the duo's foundation. The duo was the third-place finalist on CMT's competition in 2008. The duo recorded eight studio albums for Vanguard Records and Gaither Music Group and charted three singles on Hot Country Songs.
What's so heartbreaking about this is when she knew she was dying Rory Feek her husband started a blog and we went on their journey with them even long after her death. Her passion was her garden after her death he planted her seeds and carried on.
If you haven't you should check out See You There by Joey Feek!!! She was a special woman!! Her husband had/has a blog called this life I live and it is heavy but really wonderful!!
Have you reacted yet to "one angel knows my name" sung by Rory Feek, (written by the same lady who wrote this song,) after Joey's death? It's a slightly angry song about the cancer, anger at God, etc, but it's beautiful, and Rory and Dolly Parton sang it together. I don't know if you've reacted to it yet, but it's really worth listening to.
At certain parts of her vocals, like at 2:38 when she sings "when I'm gone", she reminds me of Dolly Parton when she sings softly. Something about the light tone and light vibrato. I saw a thumbnail of a video of Dolly Parton giving some kind of message on the news of her passing. Maybe they were friends, idk. Maybe she was even influenced by Dolly.
She was so beautiful. So sad her daughter Indiana will not actually remember her. I know Rory will keep her memory alive but never the same. I just kept believing there would be a happy ending but it definitely wasn’t.
I just wanted you to know that when Joey and Rory recorded this song and made this video the year was 2012. Joey didn't get diagnosed with cervical cancer until 2014, so they had no idea about her future cancer diagnosis or death when they made this. The woman playing the piano was the one who wrote this song, and if memory serves me she wrote the song in memory of her mother, who died of Alzheimer's.
This song is definitely a hard one to get through, but Joey + Rory have a love that most ppl only dream of. After Joey passed, Rory stopped performing for a while to raise their daughter Indy, he came out with some new music a while back and two of my favorites he's come out with is called "Met Him In a Motel Room" featuring Trisha Yearwood and "One Angel" featuring Dolly Parton. One Angel is about Joey
Joey recorded this song before she was diagnosed with cancer which makes the song even sadder. Joey was a special woman with a kind heart and a country girl to the core. She was buried under a tree at the farm shown in the video. Joey was taken way too soon. God bless Rory and his family.
This song was written by the lady playing the piano in the video when she lost her husband. It was recorded by Joey+Rory about a year before Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. When she was diagnosed, she was pregnant and she didn't go through chemo or radiation treatment because she would have lost the baby. Just before she passed she gave birth to her daughter Indiana who was born with Down's Syndrome. 😭
I thought I'd drop-off another suggestion, in case you're interested "Randy Travis - Three Wooden Crosses (CMT)" and I think you have reacted to Vince Gill so I will leave another suggestion for one of his songs also, in case you're interested "Vince Gill - Look At Us" these two artists have some of the cleanest and purest voices of this era, in my opinion. Take good care and I'll catch ya later
The most beautiful song by Joey and Rory, in my opinion, is "Josephine". They bought an old antebellum mansion outside of Nashville and when Rory was going through some papers that had been left in the house, he found letters that a previous owner had written to his wife, whose name was Josephine, while he was fighting in the civil war. Rory was so impressed by these letters that he wrote the song going pretty much verbatim with what the letters said. Their live arrangement is great but the video is absolutely gut wrenching. I would love to see you react to it.
Joey Feek’s rendition of “It Is Well with My Soul” Such a beautiful touching song from such a precious lady Joey Feek who is only 40 years old and battling stage 4 cancer, if this rendition doesn't touch your heart and soul you're inhuman! The video was captured on November 21st, 2015 when Joey got the sweetest surprise from the Lord: snow began to fall unexpectedly at her mother’s farmhouse in Indiana. “I didn’t think I’d get to see snow again. If this is the last snow I ever see, thank you Jesus… thank you,” Joey said. ruclips.net/video/-thSO5i9ej4/видео.html
I lost my wife of 42 years, last year. Unbelievable pain. God Bless anyone else going through this.

You are getting very close to "Brotherly Love" their bass singer, Bradley Walker was very good friends with Joey and Rory. This is a very beautiful song.😊❤
I felt everyone of these emotions and it describes the day I buried my husband of 44 years and everyday after. I miss him so much 4 years later.
She will make you cry it is so hard to lesson to her and I feel sorry for her husband.
Death comes to us all But heaven is forever! May he have peace! Until they are together again!
Oh my .. you finally got here 🥰🥰
💗💗💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍🎉🎊😇
This is a very emotional song. The timing of when it came out was very poignant. Today, Rory is still writing music and has performed a bit. His time though is totally devoted to their young daughter, Indiana. She was born with Downs Syndrome and before Joey became sick that last time, Joey did most of Indiana's care. When Joey knew that she wasn't going to get better, she slowly stepped back to let Indiana learn to rely on Rory. He later said that as hard as it must have been for Joey, it was one of the most precious and selfless gifts she gave him.
🙏🙏🙏❤️✌️
R ,I,P 🙏❤️✌️
Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer in late 2015 and died of the disease in March 2016
Rory Lee Feek (born April 25, 1965) and Joey Feek (September 9, 1975 - March 4, 2016), who were husband and wife.
If you want another emotional song by Joey feek listen to see you there it’s about her brother passing away in the aftermath of a car wreck
this is a sad song but also a Mothers love for her child and husband
They say the time will heal everything, but I'm still waiting..
Joey wasn’t sick when they recorded this
Rory has his own channel Rory Feek on RUclips so you can see how he is doing
It’s sad to actually think she did die so soon 😢 I miss her so much 😢
This song is definitely a hard one to get through, but Joey + Rory have a love that most ppl only dream of.
You should check out their song " Josephine " It's about a civil war soldier and his letters to his wife.
Joey recorded this song before she was diagnosed with cancer which makes the song even sadder. Joey was a special woman with a kind heart and a country girl to the core. She was buried under a tree at the farm shown in the video. Joey was taken way too soon. God bless Rory and his family.
Neither of them knew when the recorded this song that it would come true a few ears later.
They wrote this song and produced it before her diagnosis.
😭
❤❤❤❤❤
Please check out their live version of Cheater Cheater, it is so much fun
"JEALOUS OF THE ANGEL'S"Donna Taggart
Joey didn't know she was sick when they did this videao.
