i lost my dad to cancer in 2004, just 4 months before he turned 65, and i lost my mum in 2016 to heart disease, and the pain never goes away, it's worse during christmas and birthdays, and in 2021 i got the diagnosis that i had trhe same heart condition as my mum(angina pectoris)
Their baby's name is Indiana. Hopey is a grown daughter of Rory. The real emotion in this video is truly taken from their love for each other. It is powerful!
I remember walking through this sad time as so many did when she was dying. She had such a sweet and loving spirit. So many people walked through this sad time with Rory who had never met either of them. I was one of them. I would bet there were thousands just like me who felt like a great friend had passed away.
I cried a few times watching the original video. Have you seen that one? If not, here it is--have tissues ready. ruclips.net/video/xcpjSMmWUDw/видео.html
This a beautiful song I lost my grandfather when a week before Christmas when I was 7 “holes in the floor of heaven” still makes me cry 12 years later it’s by steve Wariner
This song reminds me of my husband after losing him this year of Aug.11 2021 can also be a husband also ..I miss Joey so much an her beautiful voice N her n Rory singing togather .I still follow Rory on his an Indy jouney on the farm at the one room school house an all that's on the farm..❤❤❤
A great song of Joey and Rory's for you to react to would be "Josephine". Rory wrote that song and the story goes that when he and Joey bought their old farmhouse outside of Nashville he found some old old letters from a soldier who served in the Civil War that he had written to his wife. The news that soldier shares with his wife about the horrors of things going on around him are absolutely haunting. Rory said that the song is largely taken verbatim from those letters he found so we are listening to the words of a man who fought in the Civil War and has been dead over a hundred years. Amazing story and amazing song.
I have followed Joey and Rory for many years and was so heartbroken when she passed=this song is so for them and her haunting voice is too good to comment on - the real sad part of it all is how happy they were when together with the wee lass - what can one say -no words for this beautiful song by a lovely woman xxxx your face says it all pal xxxx
Thank you, Caroline. When I watch their video I tear up every time. Here's a link to the short story of them making that video, told by them: ruclips.net/video/fF6qjHIUQQw/видео.html
RockN2Country thanks pal but I have actually seen it- so sad isnt it - she was such a brave woman with a great hubby and lovely wee daughter - very emotional as you say and must admit I shed a few tears watching them as she got so so sick xxx
This song reminds me of Tim McGraw "She Can't be really Gone". (Released in Oct. 1995, 6 months after I moved to Nashville chasing my songwriter dreams.) I met Gary Burr, who wrote it, at The Bluebird Cafe the day after I got to town. Heartbreaking song.
Before the song came along Joey did a song called I'll meet you there which is a true story about her brother getting killed in an auto accident on the way to the county fair to meet up with the family. Joey and Rory had a baby with down syndrome named Indiana. Joey had ovarian cancer and put treatment off in order to carry her daughter full term. Joey lasted a little over 2 years after Indy was born. They're such good people, I had watched their TV show for a number of years and it broke my heart when she died
Rory Feek was a single Christian man with two daughters. He met a Christian woman named Joey about the time she was 30 or so and they married. Years later, she found out she had cervical cancer about the time she found out she was pregnant. She refused chemo while she was carrying the baby. She had the most beautiful girl with Down's Syndrome. After the delivery, she underwent chemo and surgery but it was no use. Knowing she was going to go soon, she wrote and recorded a song for her husband. She wore a wig and you'll notice she was not standing when she recorded it. The song is sad to the point of tears no matter how often I've seen it. But it is also a song of love and reassurance that Rory would be alright. As two christians, they both know they'll be together again one day. Until then, they both knew Rory could call on God for comfort and strength.
This song is so damn sad I really dont know how he could be fine that first night when she was gone it had to be very hard on him she was a beautiful women and young she was only forty my heart go out to him cause I know his heart us still hurting after 3yrs and the really sad thing about this is .is that Rory was left to take care of there daughter who has down syndrome my heart feels for him and Joey was a amazing singer with a beautiful voice I cry every time I hear this song
Indiana is Joey and Rory's little girl. This song was for Rory. She went home to their ranch to die at home. She gave up on the chemo. I'll look up a couple more songs for u to listen to.
Love these two! I found out recently she was from the town that most of my in laws live in, Alexandria, IN... which makes sense when she talks about when (her brother I believe) had to get medivac’d to Indy... there’s a bunch of pictures of her up in the local pizza king
My favorite reactions you do are songs that I already love. Its like getting to share my favorite music with someone who is a good listener that is trying to appreciate it even though I'm digging back into your library. I have always used this song for grieving. That was the first time in 3 years I could listen to that song without breaking down since my good friend and main musical collaborator passed away. So thank you for this review
@#TRUTH Jammer Thank you for the kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. If you look at the intro to each of my vids you'll see in the montage a pic of them. I followed their story as it was unfolding and it hit me much harder than when I was a younger man. In any case, welcome aboard the channel--I look froward to seeing you around here. :-)
I myself just lost my wife of 13 yrs in September at age 40...we have a 7 yo son. I feel so tortured and forever ruined inside, as if my soul were slowly fading out of existence. This song connects with me in an infinite number of ways and I’m thankful to not be alone in this misery, though I wish it on no one, the least of which this lovely couple. If I ever got to meet Rory, I would probably feel every emotion and thought from 1 look in his eyes. Rory, I’m here and I feel for you brother. God bless your wife and your family.💔💔💔✝️✝️✝️
God bless you. lost most of my family to cancer have lost some more friends during the time before my dad got sick and then after wards I have lost some more over the last 5 years and so I can identify with this. You never forget that person, but after a while you will smile over what now makes you cry
I started following these two when they were on a reality show with Naomi Judd as a judge. Just so clearly good folks. I could not believe when I heard the news. Absolutely heartbreaking. 💔💔💔
This song tells how you actually fell when you loose your spouse Larry O'Brien was my husband my name is Seanna O'Brien Larry died from cancer in October of 2020 and when he was diagnosed it felt like someone riped my heart out of my chest and showed it to me.
I just adored Joey and Rory singing together. The time they had together was so special and its sad she was so young. My deepest sympathy to all who loved her.
@Christine Faul That's right, I remember that from following the story. Joey was from Indiana IIRC and went back there in her final months, and she and Rory named their baby after the state. Sound about right?
Joey knew the sun was setting on her life. She struggled with whether or not to get pregnant with Indi. Ultimately, Indi was a blessing to them both and is a forever reminder to Rory of the love he had (and still does) for Joey. She knew...... she knew. 😥
@@lizettenovelo1 Ovarian cancer doesn't just kill you overnight. It is a long, slow process no doubt filled with many doctor visits, hospital stays, prescriptions, tests, research, talking with your partner, worries, fear, apprehension, etc, not just for her but for Rory too. Not only did she know, they BOTH knew!
Damn you. I'm setting her with tears running down my face. I'm a grown 61 year old man. But, this is early, Easter Sunday. When Jesus rose from his grave. I know she is with Jesus. And me a terrible sinner will be with Jesus. Because his blood will was my sins away. Please, if you haven't been saved. Hit the floor and confess your sins. He will forgive you. You are literally one heartbeat away. Do it now. Happy Easter
No - Hopie is Rorys older daughter. He and Joey’s daughter is Indy.
@Gweneth Rogers Thank you for the clarification. :-)
Yes Indiana!
They were in Columbia, hour south of Nashville. Babies name was Indiana, Hopie is Rorys older daughter from a previous marraige.
The video of her singing this will rip out your heart
The depth of this story is on another level of pain but the depth of this love is so beautiful.
one of the most beautiful songs ever
@tatertotlvr That's a fact, no doubt about it.
