As others have said here, this is the original. Keith's voice is unforgettable and his legacy lives on. So many of today's traditional country artists will count Keith as an icon and an inspiration. Of course, he had his demons and we lost him way too soon, but that doesn't tarnish the amazing gift he left us.
GOAT
Every Keith Whitley song is great. “Don’t Close Your Eyes” and “I’m No Stranger to the Rain”are a couple that come to mind
Definitely!!❤
YES AND YES!
YES! AND YES
I like Miami, My Amy, also! It was such a tragedy to lose him.
Yesssss!!!! All of this! ❤❤❤
There have been many covers of this song. But Keith Whitley will always be the best. RIP Keith.
Kieth was the first to record it in 1988, Alison Krauss did it in 1995. Irish singer Frances Black did it in 1996. Irish Pop singer Ronan Keating did it in 1999. Written by Paul Overstreet & Don Schlitz, both are predominantly country songwriters.
Paul Overstreet is also an amazing singer!
@@Tabby_Angela Yes he is!
Alison's version was on a tribute cd of Keith's songs. This bought her to the public's notice as a singer in her own right as well as Union Station. Keith's & Alison's versions are FAR superior to any others.
@@Tabby_Angelalove Paul Overstreet
@@rafhenlow There is a version on here where someone has made it into a duet with them both singing it together.
Both are great on it when they have solo parts, but it goes to another level once they start harmonising.
Keith Whitley was the original singer of this song. Others have done it after him but in my opinion his version will forever be the best one. I love how smooth and relaxing his voice is. You need to react to " Tell Lorrie I love her", "I'm over you" , "Miami , my Amy" , "Til a tear becomes a rose ft. Lorrie Morgan" , "Somebody's doin' me right" , "Brotherly love ft. Earl Thomas Conley"
Yes! Especially Brotherly Love! ETC is my absolute favorite ❤️
@@christielysdale1815 I made a video using the song brotherly love as the song to it with Bo and Luke Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard ( the tv show not the movie) cause even though they were cousins they fought more like brothers.
His Voice was/is pure perfection!!!
Keith was an amazing singer. He passed away ( I believe in ‘89 ) of alcohol poisoning. He died way too young
In 1989, we were on a bike trip and passed through Nashville, all over the area were billboards with Keith’s picture and condolences on his passing.
Please do Keith’s song “Don’t Close Your Eyes “. His voice is unforgettable.
He had already reacted to it about 3 months ago i believe just search taylor family keith whitely
@@petesomebody7389 thanks for reminding me! I had forgotten. I need to go back and watch it again.
Keith's voice was like butter
I'm torn between this version and Alison Krauss's. Both are hauntingly beautiful.
Have you seen the version where they digitally put Keith Whitley and Allison Krause together. Haunting…
@@stanrose4517 I haven't, but that sounds amazing.
Keith was married to Lorrie Morgan also a country singer.
Alison Krauss & Union Station also recorded this song. Alison has such a pure voice.
Brings tears to my eyes. missing my dear husband
Pull up his greatest hits. There’s not a bad one in there. All of them are excellent 😊
Dude has one of the greatest catalogues of all time and his career was cut way too short
Keith could sing anything as far as I'm concerned... his voice is perfect country and unique. Your reaction is pricelss.. when you realize you know the song.
❤❤❤❤ RIP Mr. Whitley!!! You had a troubled life but you blessed us all with your music!
Keith Whitley could read the mail and make it a country hit
Ronan Keating and Alison Krauss both do an awesome job, but my favorite was always Keith. He is one of my all time faves…gone way too soon, and tragically, leaving another of my favorite artists a widow. Lorrie Morgan won an award for best duet with him, “Til Each Tear You Cry Becomes a Rose,” and I remember thinking how simultaneously thrilled and devastated she must have been…to win, but then to do it without him beside her to celebrate.
Between and old memory and me is an absolutely beautiful song by Keith Whitley. Please give it a listen.
Me personally this is my favorite country singer of all time
Keith whitley is one of the best of all time
@@ashleyd6393 definitely
everything Keith Whitley sung was gold, my fav is a lesser known one called hurt her on the radio
What a beautiful voice
Just gorgeous.
Love listening to Keith...great singer
Keith's song, Don't Close Your Eyes, meant a lot to a dear friend of mine. One year on Valentine's Day he called me and sang it to me on my voicemail. My friend passed away the following year after a battle with cancer... That voicemail has been transferred from phone to phone, I'll never delete it.
...... You still owe me that dance Stan
Keith is one of my all time favorite singers!! He passed away way to soon!! I’ve never heard a bad Keith Whitley song!! Miami my Amy, is a good one.
Such an incredible voice.
Vince Gills ' song, "Go Rest High on That Mountain," was partly about losing Keith. Makes me cry every time.
I would love to see you react to a live performance by Travis Tritt, its his song"anymore" from live and kickin', its my favorite song
If you have not seen it, watch Travis Tritt Trilogy, one of which is Anymore.
@@MommaBird52 yes that's the best
Great reaction, Keith Whitley was a wonderful artist, his death was so sad. His wife, Lorrie Morgan, performed a lovely and emotional tribute to him.
Keith was the original singer of this track, and his voice is just unmatched in country. Sadly he passed away from alcohol abuse. May he RIP.
You have reacted to his ex wife in the past too. Miss Lorrie Morgan. Hopefully you get back to some of her catalog too. 🤠
Let's Go!!
Keith Whitley does it best💯❤️
Keith wrote that song ♥️
Written by hit songwriters Don Schlitz and Paul Overstreet,
@@MommaBird52LOVE Paul Overstreet, he is an amazing writer and singer ❤
🙏KEITH 😢
RIP Keith! Check out his widow, Lorrie Morgan, covering his song "Don't Close Your Eyes". Also Lorrie's song "If You Came Back From Heaven".
Homecoming 63 w Keith Whitley and Lorrie Morgan !
I got to see Keith right before he died and was amazed. I got married in 1989 and this was our wedding song.
Keith Whitley…one of the best male country voices of all time!
THE BEST
Keith was called “the voice” for a reason. When you learn about his life, his music hits you like a ton of bricks. He was such a flawed, vulnerable human being (as we all are). His pain comes through with every note. RIP Kieth. 🤘🏻🤟🏻
This man was gonna dominate country throughout the 90’s…definitely the biggest “What if” of country 💯💯
This is the original and the best!
This is one of the earliest songs I can ever remember hearing
I started becoming a country fan in 1989. I was home, bored out of my mind, only got three channels on my TV (good old rabbit ears days) and started watching the CMA awards for that year. They did a tribute to Keith and that was all it took.
Don't close your eyes is the best song to me. I think you would love it.
i love his music , another very good one is Don't Close Your Eyes
There is no better song to dance with my hubby to.
Love Keith withley
He was such a great singer, miss him.
This is such a sweet love song❤️
I've seen Notting Hill but don't recall the song. I'll have to rewatch. I've heard Keith's version since I was young
We had this song playing at our wedding during the unity sand pouring.
Don't Close Your Eyes and I'm No Stranger to the Rain are 2 more great songs by him. R.I.P
Such a great talent gone too soon
And if you ever get the chance, you should listen to his version of Long Black limousine absolutely incredible
I did see Notting Hill and loved the film and the song. Keith's version is so heartfelt. Of course we lost him which is very sad.
Clint Black - Like The Rain
The world lost a genius when Keith died..
The live version is excellent. He said this was the most beautiful song he'd ever recorded. It was released in late '88 & was his 2nd #1. Sadly he was gone months later. Allison Krause recorded it but Keith's is best.
This is my mine and my husband's song. Has been for 28 years. 💗
This is the only version that anyone should play! Great reaction have a awesome Sunday!
👏👏👏
You should also listen to the version by Alison Krauss!
So grateful I was able to see him in concert!👏❤💔Lost him way too soon!
I love his music. What a beautiful voice
Keith's hometown is half an hour from me. He is still deeply missed here....that will never change.
You should listen to his some Miami, my Amy. It is so great!! Please listen to it!!
Keith was the first to sing this song. He released it in 1988. He died at 34 from alcohol poisoning 😔
True Love!! 😍
Instant goosebumps. I love him!
More please! But get ready, you cannot listen to Keith and not feel raw emotions. His voice puts a lump in your throat…it’s that beautiful!
I love this song! Play it for the missus.
You need to hear Miami, My Amy.
Now you need to listen to Alison Krauss's version. Her voice is so pure and sweet - unforgettable!
Hey, and Laurie Morgan have a son named Jesse Keith Whitley. He’s also a great performer.
My favorite version of this is with Allison Klaus
Vince Gill started writing his song "Go Rest High On That Mountain", after Keith's passing, and didn't complete the song until after his brother passed.
Love his music and so glad you did too. If I remember correctly, Keith was playing in bands or on the radio when 9 or 10 years old?? I hope a commenter will correct me if I'm wrong😊
Was going to comment this, there is a line in Go Rest High on that Mountain...you were no stranger to the rain...referring to Keith's song...I'm no Stranger to the Rain ❤
Know you know this, but some may not
I believe he was the first ❤gone too soon RIP
"Don't Close Your Eyes" and "I'm No Stranger To The Rain" by him are great. Also check out the original video by Garth Brooks of "The Dance" it's a tribute to Keith Whitley, John Wayne, JFK, MLK jr, Lane Frost, and the crew of the Challenger. 😢💔
Need to listen to don't close your eyes.
Amazing Singer he was❗
He didn't write the song but was the first to record this song.
It's been covered by a few artists over the years including, Clay Walker, and Alison Krauss with Union Station.
This was recorded the year before he died.
Great song! It takes me back to my Senior year of High School and great memories. "Don't Close Your Eyes", "I'm Over You", and "Between An Old Memory And Me" are some of my favorites from KW.
Gone way too soon. You nave to hear Morgan Wallen’s song from his new album titled ‘Keith Whitley.’ It’s my favorite from the entire album! And always do the One Record at a Time Studio
version if it’s available. So good!
Fly high Kentucky Bluebird. 💔
You should also have a listen to song Brotherly Love from Keith Whitley
Keith Whitley is the original singer of this track
Great song from a great artist, RIP. Alison Krauss also does an excellent version of this song
Hello from Arkansas USA 🇺🇸
One of my favorites of all time. I wanted to comment to just say I loved how you know how to split the screen and blend your face in with the song. Most reaction videos have a small box in the corner. Well done.
if you are going to dive into some country music then the group Alabama is a must . i loved their older music Feels So Right is my favorite i think . i have seen them in concert 4 times and they have never disappointed me .
Brilliant song, brilliant artist! If you like that do a reaction for Doug Stone specifically "in a different light". But you're going to love any Doug Stone song.
My favorite country vocal performance of all time. His voice in this song is simply awesome.
Great reaction. Love this
His wife at the time, Lori Morgan, is also a great singer
I agree with @pats1944 comments below! Keith was so awesome back in the day. He left s way too soon!! I just love his voice! Allison Krauss sung this song also. But, you should really check out the version where they dubbed Keith and Allison singing it together. It is absolutely amazing!
Craig you have found a rabbit hole you should check out
Oh my, what a loss for Country music. Keith was amazing. Married to another country legend Lorie Morgan (who's father was also a country icon). Lorie had a contractual obligation to do a concert and while she was gone, Keith took his own life from alcohol poisoning. He was an alcoholic and Lorie has told the story that she had to tie their feet together at night so she could keep track of him if he got up. He wrote a song for her 'Tell Lorie I love her' ruclips.net/video/dMGRm4k69PU/видео.html but she has never gotten over him so she wrote a song 'If you came back from heaven' and it tears your heart out. ruclips.net/video/e1H2VIYOBps/видео.html Also, here is Keith and Lorie singing Till a tear becomes a rose. ruclips.net/video/1iAyjrOo2A0/видео.html Please listen and react to these songs, please. Tragic love story. RIP Keith.
Try “ Homecoming 63” by Keith Whitley !!!!
Keith Whitely was a master of his craft! We lost him way too soon.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
One of my favs!! Remember playing his songs on the radio. One of the best!!!
Awww, Kieth Whitley... 😢 This brings back so many memories. Such a beautiful talent taken too soon. ❤
A good ole Kentucky boy.
You need to listen to Chord Overstreet sing When You Say Nothing At All. His dad, Paul Overstreet wrote it.
Keith does an excellent job on it.
