The 36.5mm for the American 1921 is the ideal size if you want something more along the lines of a dress watch since the cushion shape will wear more like a 38mm while the 40mm 1921 will wear like a 41-42mm
Well done Adrian. Your high end production value seems to have gone up a couple of levels, which is appropriate for this watch. This might be the coolest watch I've ever seen.
Adrian commenting on guitars? This is something that none of us knew we needed, but now we do. Also, this watch is gorgeous. If only it wasn't $25,000.
Most "watch" guys I know are passionate about instruments other than just their watches. The passion we have for our watches is usually just the tip of the iceberg. I collect custom Pool cues.
Cushion/square cases do tend to wear larger so probably not a surprise the smaller works so well on an regular wrist. It does look stunning. VC do seem to get overshadowed by AP and Patek, yet keep bringing it.
A stunning watch. It's elegance ticks the sports and dress watch boxes so well. Love that cushion case , beautiful Breguet hands and typeface. Like the crown position too. A true gentleman's piece , that's wonderful for being a bit left field.
Adrian, I find myself patiently waiting to see when B&J has uploaded a new video. Lots of watch channels on RUclips but this is the best one in my opinion by far. Thanks for the content my friend
I'm sure many would agree you are a skilled photographer and videographer, and I'm also sure you could make almost any watch look good (indeed, many of my "dream" watches have been influenced by your content), but can you show a subtle, yet truly classy watch to its best advantage... Turns out yes! That was awesome. I always admired the VC American, but now somehow I *need* one!
This is my grail watch but in Platinum. Love the blue numerals, the blued hands and the blue leather strap. Would totally rock this watch casually. I think it'd look amazing with a white t-shirt and jeans. Now I just need to save up $48k! Great video Adrian. Glad to see this watch get some well-deserved attention.
Really didn't expect to like this watch - watched the video and spent some time staring at some of the shots and now I adore it! Great video as always (y)
There are challenges to get a Vacheron Constantine but boy oh boy, didn't it feel like a Christmas morning even when I was only trying on a watch this caliber let alone owning one. I still remember the first time I stepped into a store in Hong Kong.
I live in Melbourne, Australia. Most major brands are here, mostly on one street. Walking past the VC AD one day my wife stopped and stared. It was the pic in the window of the 1921. You know it's a stunning watch when you're wife stops and looks!
Glad to hear another person in Melb - The VC boutique in Melb is great, friendly and helpful. Brought my Overseas Chronograph with a Blue dial there a couple of yrs ago.
I really really like the public speaker element of this. Could see somebody like a powerful lawyer rocking this discreetly, somebody who's tough but humble in that Atticus Finch vein. His suit is bespoke and his watch is gold not in a conspicuous consumption way, but so he can show up and present his argument without any frills or theatrics. For the man who values the handmade element not the cost (even if that cost is quite high for the work that's put in).
Beautiful - I wouldn’t necessarily class it as a dress watch though, it’s one of those like the Reverso and Santos that could easily be dressed down and worn with pretty much anything
Absolutely agreed. I would posit that some designs are so *right* that they defy categorisation; perhaps the three pieces you mentioned are (ironically) in *that* category?
I know what you mean, but is a dress watch in the sense of now when a lot of watches are more casual or sport. Is like wearing a tailored sports jacket, you are not fully dressed up (like in a suit), but you are still "dressed up" as you are wearing something tailored Vs say a hoodie or some casual outdoor jacket, etc.
This watch is the ultimate class, beauty, joy and history. you can never compare it with just other watches repeating same case with some minor change in dials, I recommend just try it once and see how you feel, pure Swiss watch for pure taste. well done Vacheron and thanks.
I now say "hit the little bell icon" at the end of every video now too haha :D definitely a unique and beautiful watch - thanks for sharing this! It would not have come across my radar otherwise. I really like the close-up of the painted numbers. I'd love to see how the watch maker paints that on...trade secrets I suppose.
I checked out both sizes at the store, and I have to say the smaller dial not only wears better, but also has better spacing on the dial. Very elegant piece and can actually be purchased unlike the other stuff these days...
OMG this is the reason why I’ve been saying it’s VC’s time to be in the limelight. With watches this cool and well made makes you wonder why Rolex get all the air time. Thanks for bring this watch to us Adrian, just mega 🙏👍
Beautiful watch, looks class, a subtle chic ! VC did a nice job with that watch... I do love Breguet, so maybe the Breguet numerals, and Breguet apple hands are just calling me.. But that cushion case is also really nice looking, the overall proportion and layout, finish is one of a kind... It just whispers, I am "true luxury, I am unique ".Something different. Nice Adrian.
About fell out when you said you wanted to see the 40mm vs the 36… with that dial in white I bet it did wear brilliantly! Just WoW! Thank for sharing and taking the time for such a gorgeous video highlighting that movement & dial🔥🔥🔥. -@nashvillewatch
I didn't originally care for the design if the VC American 1921. However, with further exposure, it has really begun to grow on me. I can definitely see situations where the ability to discretely check the time would be advantageous.
I would love to see you do an entire video about watches that just missed the mark… like a wishlist of “I would totally buy this watch if the maker would just…” or “this watch would be the perfect addition to my collection if only I could get over…”
Love this idea! I feel this way about so many watches. I would totally buy an Omega Aqua Terra if Omega would just brush the center links and get a clasp with on the fly micro adjustments.
I like the changing up of the intro! Made it feel a bit more fresh. But yea probably my favorite VC. Everything i like about them, super elegant but with a bit of fun and something different. Could watch like 20 more minutes of macro shots of it.
Great Video, the way you described the finishing is just sooo right. Not necessarily my type of watch - but I love seeing you review it. I own a VC O/S and I can look at it for ages and it just gets better and better. 20,000 watch per annum is not a lot - how many watches do Rolex make each week (1m/52 = 19,230). VC are rare on every level, also like the fact you wear a VC and it doesn't attract attention from the general public and crooks. Most people think a $10K Rolex is worth more than most VC watches. Keep up the great work - your videos are fantastic.
Awesome watch and awesome video Adrian. I always liked the 1921. I also like the chronometre royal platinum with the white dial/breguet numerals. Why spend 40-50k on a daytona when one could get an all black gmt master II and a 1921 or ALS 1815 in white gold for around the same? It's beyond me.
My absolute and only grail watch and with the same size 16.5 wrist that 36.5 is perfect. Given how much cheaper it is it seems like a bargain compared to the 40mm. If only I could afford it! Great presentation Adrian, thanks.
Yes! That’s a grail piece for sure. Such class, and as you said just the right amount of uniqueness. Beautiful. I’ll have to wait for the 40mm….and some more cash!
Such a beautiful example of the watchmaker's craft. I too would opt for the 36.5mm over the 40mm because smaller, more elegant dimensions are better appreciated in circles where old money abounds . . . .let new money wear the larger diameters
Appreciate your opinion. In response, I caution any judgement on the reasons to buy a watch based on new or old money. How about we buy a watch that speaks to us, for which we are passionate about? Buying for re-sale value or for what others think seems to be missing the mystery and excitement of horology.
Ever since I have the platinum version in 40mm I sold every watch other than sentimental prices because it is the only watch I wear, it’s and amazing watch
I've worn the 40mm on several occasions. The 40mm version will fit just fine for you. Have to say, something about this dial, it photographs REALLY well. Can't say the same for many other watches. Its retail price is similar to a AP 15500OR on a strap. I have to say, I'd take the Royal oak every single time given the choice.
Adrian. This has been a grail of mine for a long long time. As was the Reverso Duo Face. You did a video on that particular reverso which made me fall in love with them. My 21st is on Wednesday, and that particular reverso is what I will be receiving. Maybe soon I will have to treat myself to the 40mm variant of this.
Totally off the topic - My sailing days as a deck cadet onboard british merchant marine company Mobil Shipping had a certain Capt Cadman - know as Cadman the Madman. Lovely video and love the non rolex content.
The 36.5mm for the American 1921 is the ideal size if you want something more along the lines of a dress watch since the cushion shape will wear more like a 38mm while the 40mm 1921 will wear like a 41-42mm
Perfect size. Beautiful watch. I really like it.
Adrian. Stop hyping up my fav watches!!!! I can’t have the 1921 becoming hard to get! 😜 ITS A CLERGY WATCH!
Haha, it really is a clergy watch. You need it!
VC need to make a limited edition WatchGringa version of this 😜
Well done Adrian. Your high end production value seems to have gone up a couple of levels, which is appropriate for this watch. This might be the coolest watch I've ever seen.
The cushion shape of this VC reminded me of another great watch maker that is rarely spoken of. Laurent Ferrier, and their square micro rotor.
Adrian commenting on guitars? This is something that none of us knew we needed, but now we do.
Also, this watch is gorgeous. If only it wasn't $25,000.

Microphones and Movies for me.
Guitars, motorcycles and watches. Not sure about the order though.
Thank you for sharing this timepiece with us. I would never buy one, but it is still a timepiece that has my respect. Keep up the good work.
Simply the most beautiful three hander ever made.
‘nuff said.
Stunning! I'm a big Panerai cushion fan and just love the tilt of a Constantin. Great review!
Cushion/square cases do tend to wear larger so probably not a surprise the smaller works so well on an regular wrist. It does look stunning.
VC do seem to get overshadowed by AP and Patek, yet keep bringing it.
Watch is so unique. Pure class
Stunning watch. Great review and you left the plugs till the end! Perfect.
This is up there with a 36mm day date as my grail watch. But I think in pink or yellow gold.
thanks for the tips on SG and Les Paul...... as a watch collector and guitarist. LOVE THAT !!!
A stunning watch. It's elegance ticks the sports and dress watch boxes so well. Love that cushion case , beautiful Breguet hands and typeface. Like the crown position too. A true gentleman's piece , that's wonderful for being a bit left field.
Adrian, a beautiful VC in precious metal….simply stunning! The 36.5mm version seems perfect to me.
Definitely on my radar. I never would have thought to look for a 36.5 size.
Great review and nice to see you back. We like it when we see you more often!
Great research and story around the purpose of the offset dial!
Thats impressive, next level craftsmanship.
Adrian, I find myself patiently waiting to see when B&J has uploaded a new video. Lots of watch channels on RUclips but this is the best one in my opinion by far. Thanks for the content my friend
Thanks so much buddy. 🙌🏻

Saw this one in a boutique couple of weeks back and it is incredible!
I really love this watch. Haven't seen one in the metal in quite some time but would love to add this one to the collection some day
Really didn't expect to like this watch - watched the video and spent some time staring at some of the shots and now I adore it! Great video as always (y)

It’s absolutely stunning 😲.. thanks for showing us this piece brother 🤙🏼
I wasn't sure when I first saw one, but they're really growing on me
I live in Melbourne, Australia. Most major brands are here, mostly on one street. Walking past the VC AD one day my wife stopped and stared. It was the pic in the window of the 1921. You know it's a stunning watch when you're wife stops and looks!

I love the look of it, but I can't get over the fact that the orientation of the seconds dial is on a different axis... Can't unsee
Love this watch. It's something really special. And the finishing of the movement. Oh, Boy? Hands down, much more than an Omega speedmaster in gold.
I dont understand the orientation of the small second. Shouldn't the 60sec mark be in the same direction as the 12hour mark?
Beautiful - I wouldn’t necessarily class it as a dress watch though, it’s one of those like the Reverso and Santos that could easily be dressed down and worn with pretty much anything
I thought the same thing. I could see wearing that watch 3 or 4 days per week easily.
Absolutely agreed.
I would posit that some designs are so *right* that they defy categorisation; perhaps the three pieces you mentioned are (ironically) in *that* category?

Fair point.
It is love at first sight. Simply gorgeous. One can dream . . . can't we?
Grail watch… love it!
Quite honestly this is the only VC I like … it’s simply gorgeous.
I can fully understand your enthusiasm for this grandiose watch.
Could you do a review of the FiftySix Complete calander please
Thank you for reviewing 36mm watch ❤️
You listened to me ...finally a video not about omega or a Rolex ...good boy .

I actually cried, it's a very beautiful watch...
The 36.5mm is on the for men section on the VC site.
Stunning watch.

SUCH a GORGEOUS piece!!!
Thats a nice review ! Love that watch! And I really like the Gibson info! The white one was for les pauls wife!
What a stunner! The things dreams are made of. Another great review sir.

That is one classy watch. Love the angle of the dial. Great review.

Ah man, what a stunner 😍 Great video. Very nice shots of it too!
Travelling by train through Swiss alps looking at this watch on your wrist with coffee on the table how amazing is that
Great Video, the way you described the finishing is just sooo right. Not necessarily my type of watch - but I love seeing you review it.

its very nice I did not really have a watch bucket list but this watch is the first one on it
I have this watch and swapped it with a VC black alligator leather strap. Absolutely Class.
nice move. I don't like the brown strap much at all. Im thinking green or blue strap though.
My absolute and only grail watch and with the same size 16.5 wrist that 36.5 is perfect.
Given how much cheaper it is it seems like a bargain compared to the 40mm. If only I could afford it!

Yes! That’s a grail piece for sure. Such class, and as you said just the right amount of uniqueness. Beautiful. I’ll have to wait for the 40mm….and some more cash!
I wish they made one in steel, I would have definitely bought one. I ended up getting the Triple Calender 1942 cuz it was my 2nd favorite from VC.
This one is my one and only grail, although I prefer the platinum with blue text.
Definitely grail watch absolutely beautiful
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Such a piece! Makes me speechless! Oh so astonishing!

Love the look of this watch, so cool.
30m water resistance though.. (I know it's a dress watch but still)
I got the 40mm rose gold and the more I use it, the more I love it ❤
how large is your wrist? I have 6.75 and am considering the 40. I felt it had more prescense when trying them on, but now im uncertain. Thanks.

It appears that VC has updated the movement on the 1921 to a hi-beat shock protected movement. Nice!
