My goodness. What a beautiful excellent timepiece. A wristwatch of classic Art Deco design yet still years ahead of its time in beauty and functionality. Both front and back are artful and tasteful, elegant and timeless. “Timelessness put to motion” is a perfect description. Thanks for showing this beautiful timepiece Teddy.
This is a beautiful watch, thank you for sharing this with us. As a relatively novice collector, I find your videos they are very informative, not to mention inspiring.
Love the 1921 American. I absolutely love the design of my highly unique watch, but can't find any love for it on RUclips. Nothing else looks like it and it's gorgeous. It's a silvery white dial Kirium Chronograph.
It definetly is one of the if not the most beautiful watch in my opinion. What I am not sure of, is do i like the seconds dial more on 6 o clock or 3 o clock, but actually both are incredible
Easily my favorite video review from your channel. Loved the angles, quality, and focus on the watch as well as its history. You're always passionate about watches and your cinematography is finally catching up to your passion, which is amazing.
A Vacheron Constantin 1921 has become my grail watch. In some sense, it really stands out from the crowd. You said something about the transition from pocket watches to wrist watches and as a fan of pocket watches, I can see the influence of pocket watch design. I like the background music. It added something to my enjoyment of this video. Whoever did your audio mixing got it right.
I love this design! It not only works while driving, but also anytime you want a time check. I’m guessing it is out of my personal price range, but if I could afford it would be at the top of my list!
Thank you for the great video. One of my favourite watches of Vacheron Constantin. Finally a video of a heavy used worn Vacheron Constantin Americain 1921 with scratches and dents on the case. A watch is supposed to be worn!
The beautiful fact about this watch is that it deserve more than a few lines. It deserve a story, a book. Vacheron is the Swiss watch maison who made this exclusive peace of timekeeping. The ha1921 is that kind of watch which you can buy to celebrate your marriage, and it stay for good. The art deco is one of the greatest styles time ever created, and it have charm. 1920-1939. More styles like Bauhaus, Barok, Modern, Jugendstil, Pop art, and many more are great to implement in watches. Or the style the design department put in watch design. VC made more beautiful watches next to the ha1921, for example a Quai De l’ille. That Teddy was in the production unit, is a privilege that he got in his pocket. And what to think about a visit at F.P. Journe in Geneva. I as an Omega follower, i can also appreciate the work and effort of other great watch Maison’s. Vacheron is that kind of tradition that made time to keep in your heart.
VC is one of those absolutely fantastic brand, but just don't seem to get as much love as AP and PP. Now I really gotta watch that visit at their factory!
I love VC and this watch but I would love to understand why the second hand doesn’t have the 60 degree mark pointing the same way as the 12 o’clock on the dial
Great job Teddy. In my humble opinion I believe this has got to be one of the most beautiful watches I've ever seen. I can easily compare it with the original Ferrari GTO which is categorized as the most beautiful car in the world. The price merits it.
I think VC is really underrated as a watch brand. Its all “Gerald Genta” nowadays and unfortunately (or lucky) they dont have a GG design. They just make stunning movements and watches, If this watch is yours, you make me a bit jealous🤩 First time I see this model. Its nice!
I'm re-watching some of your videos on an insomniatic Teus. night/Wednes. morning in Melbourne, Australia. This timepiece? I don't have words to describe it's beauty. It is visceral. Literally. I feel my love of and desperation to own this watch physically in my 'gut' Amazing. Nice production BTW, I mean in general, but specifically for this post.
Teddy Baldassarre - Argh Teddy, I watched SO MANY of your old uploads last night, well this morning, I broke YT! My feed: TB, other watch related channel, TB, TB, another watch related channel, TB, Bob's Burgers (I watch that too!), TB, TB, yet another watch related video, TB, TB, TB...rince, repeat! If your analytics are weird this week, don't freak, that's just me. 😶
Wow! Fantastic video Teddy. In my opinion, this is one of your best presented and most interesting videos on a singular watch to date. Great quality and I love the close up shots. As far as your question at the end of the video, I’m pretty vanilla when it comes to what I like with watches. I do like the style of this watch, and the Santos de Cartier as well. Thanks again for the great videos and content!
My Favorite Watch EVER is FP Journe Chronometre a Resonance (Platinum one) its just looks so Gorgeous and with some gorgeous movement inside. altho im sure its not for everyone taste :)
Love your videos, only recently got into watches and have found your videos to be really educational. Mainly due to the fact that your preferences are wildly different to mine. Still thanks for the quality content lad.
Wow! Wonderful review as always! When I saw this on Instagram, I just fell in love for it and it has now become part of my grails together with the Nautilus.
Hey Teddy, I’ve been with your channel since about April or May of 2018 and I just want to say the channel has really developed in an awesome way. My video request is this: please make a video about the shirts you wear in your videos. They look very high quality and have great styles. I would like to know where you get them from!
Video idea: Seiko Astron. It's the 50th anniversary of the world's first quartz watch in a few days. No vids on it! I'm going to Seiko World tomorrow to see if they have one
I have seen old 1920s drivers watches that are not Vacheron that employ the identical design. A question tho’ - I wear my watch on the right hand wrist. Is there a right hand version of this watch?
Hi, I am going to buy a Patrimony 42mm manual or a Historique American 1921, but I would like you to explain why there is such a high difference of price between the two models despite they have the same caliber 4400. I am sure there is a reason, but it’s important for me to know before taking the final decision. Thanks. Paolo
Very nice video and review! :) This used to be my favorite Vacheron as well, until I noticed that the small seconds dial is not oriented in the same direction as the main dial. Now I cannot unsee that, and it is quite annoying. If I’m not mistaken, in the original model this was not the case, the small seconds dial being oriented as the main one. Do you maybe happen to know why they decided to change this detail?
Can someone please let me know if a Vacheron exists with a triangular case, I could swear I've seen it before but can't find it anywhere. Since I can't find it on Google I'm probably way off
I want to love this watch, and it’s almost my favourite VC dress watch as well. I really love the overall design, especially that case, and the 40mm size if perfect for my large wrists. I have only three issues with it, that would prevent me from getting one over its siblings if the opportunity arose. Firstly, as someone who prefers white metals, I don’t like the absence of white gold, forcing me to pay 40% more for platinum over the gold models, if I want a white metal. Secondly, on the point of price, it’s significantly more expensive than every other VC using the calibre 4400 (Patrimony, Traditionnelle and Malte), with no apparent reason for the increased price. The difference is so noticeable that the Traditionnelle Excellence Platine (featuring pt950 case, dial, strap stitching and buckle) costs less than $1K more than the standard gold American 1921, while the standard gold models (incl. white gold) are less than half the price of the platinum 1921. Finally, while I love the quirky 45 degree canted dial, it bothers me that they didn’t also cant the small-seconds sub-register, and more I look at it the more it bothers me. So overall, while I like it, and want to love it, I personally wouldn’t buy one unless they brought the price closer to similar (and functionality identical) watches in the lineup, offered a white gold option, and fixed the seconds sub-register.
This watch is beautiful and I just yesterday bought the Timex TW000CP18 - which seems to be an homage at 20 dollars! :D Not in exact case shape, but the dial font and hands.
just a thought.. if it is a "drivers" watch maybe it would be more practical to wear it right handed .. so the dial should be turned "north west" at 11hrs instead of north east 13hrs
The one thing that you didnt really touch upon too much is the price. Compare the RRP of the 1921 American and line it up against the Traditionelle small seconds - both precious metal, same movement. Inexplicably the 1921 is £31000 and the Traditionelle is £18,300. That's alot of quids for someone to rotate the movement 45 degrees!
I am with you Teddy on this watch to me it's a stunner!
I love Arabic numerals on a watch, they always remind me of my grandfather's watch and a clock my grandmother had on the mantelpiece
Love the 1921 American.
I absolutely love the design of my highly unique watch, but can't find any love for it on RUclips. Nothing else looks like it and it's gorgeous. It's a silvery white dial Kirium Chronograph.
My favorite marque among the so called trilogy. I think that they're sublime.
Definitely!!! Also one of my fav watches ever! Want the platinum! 😍
Seeing the minute hand slightely moving in those macro shots is just georgous 😄🤙🏼
I love the light scratches on this one. It kinda gives the watch a much more authentic touch
Agreed! It shows the personal connection to the owner.
Just one word - perfect watch
Agreed haha.
Love this thing!
Strahinja Djoric But that’s two words.
Bim tehnically yes but in watch language its one word 😂
Wrong show
My fav dressy driver! - comfortably one of the best dials period - utterly beautiful
One of the most beautiful and charming watch ever made
This video has convinced me that the seconds sub-dial doesn't only belong at the 6 position. Asymmetry done right here.
That VC is a beautiful watch. Looks a little like my Lange 1815 Up/Down but with everything tilted...
It definetly is one of the if not the most beautiful watch in my opinion. What I am not sure of, is do i like the seconds dial more on 6 o clock or 3 o clock, but actually both are incredible

The only gold watch I could ever see myself getting. The style is so perfect.
This watch has been on the top of my grocery list for three years.
How to be rich? Teach me the principles for money?
Thank you for the great video. One of my favourite watches of Vacheron Constantin. Finally a video of a heavy used worn Vacheron Constantin Americain 1921 with scratches and dents on the case. A watch is supposed to be worn!
I like how you sync’d the hand ticking sound to the music around 1:35-1:42. Well done!
Ugh this and the Longines A7 are just so incredible. If I could start a brand, a rotated dial would be a design hallmark
The beautiful fact about this watch is that it deserve more than a few lines. It deserve a story, a book.

*sigh* grail watch. After buying this, I have to buy a Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing to go with it.
Alvis TD 21 will do, for the fraction of the cost!
@@milosbrajkovic9855my father owned this car
VC is one of those absolutely fantastic brand, but just don't seem to get as much love as AP and PP. Now I really gotta watch that visit at their factory!
Gonna be my grail watch for sure!
I love that the owner is actually wearing the watch. Scratches give it character
I love VC and this watch but I would love to understand why the second hand doesn’t have the 60 degree mark pointing the same way as the 12 o’clock on the dial

It's the finest Breguet that they never made.
I think VC is really underrated as a watch brand.
Its all “Gerald Genta” nowadays and unfortunately (or lucky) they dont have a GG design.
They just make stunning movements and watches,
If this watch is yours, you make me a bit jealous🤩 First time I see this model. Its nice!
So great.! Almost pulled the trigger on one yesterday. This just makes me want it even more
"The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it." Oscar Wilde 😂
Tried this on recently. The rose gold version. Absolutely stunning. 😍

Thanks my friend! You put it well with this comment. This was my favorite review I did all of 2019. This piece is just special.

I appreciate it mike! So glad you all enjoy these!

Thank you so much Ethan! I am a lover of the santos too! But you’re probably right in that many don’t like it. Thanks for watching!
The look is so unique and is my favorite.
My Favorite Watch EVER is FP Journe Chronometre a Resonance (Platinum one) its just looks so Gorgeous and with some gorgeous movement inside. altho im sure its not for everyone taste :)
The polarising PloProf from Omega is one that I like (probably not enough to actually buy though)...
TJ S I love that watch too. Nothing else even remotely like it
Great example. I could never pull it off but many love it
Love that this watch has scratches visible. It makes it kind of unique. This one is definitely one of my grail watches
Always first class videos. The best channel on RUclips without a doubt. Thanks, Teddy.
Appreciate you Charles! Thanks for watching!
This is an absolute gem Teddy! I just bought the Timex TW000CP18 for less than 20 dollars which seems to pay homage to this!
Glorious timepiece!
The platinum version with blue numerals causes my heart to flutter just a tad.
Awesome taste Robert!
Mine too!
same here
The scuff marks on the watch really make it look like a historique piece!
Besides the rotation I like number font. Examples would be the Seiko spc133/131 and ssc081.
Love your videos, only recently got into watches and have found your videos to be really educational. Mainly due to the fact that your preferences are wildly different to mine. Still thanks for the quality content lad.
One of my bucket list 😍
Excellent review, u were able to express ur emotions so well.......love from india
Thank you my friend! I really enjoyed doing this review.
So very nice. VC are so much nicer looking than any Patek models
This screems ROAD TRIP . you could collect it . ID ROCK THIS EVERY WEEKEND scratches be damned
Tempted to start a "Modern Watches does 1910's - 1920's styles"
Starting with the Longines Heritage 1918 and then this.
Thanks for the effort in reviewing this nice watch
Beautiful watch. Teddy, I love the review and history given here in your video. I can only dream of owning a watch like this.
Wow! Wonderful review as always! When I saw this on Instagram, I just fell in love for it and it has now become part of my grails together with the Nautilus.
It is a grail of mine as well. Such a lovely and unique watch!

Appreciate it man. Most of the places I shop at for my oxfords are Taylor Stitch and J Crew
People are polarized somewhat about the Heuer Monaco. I love it.
Absolutely love this piece 😍
Love this immediately I saw it! This gonna me my grail!
Sorry I’m day late, but I’m here. Great video as always, very good looking watch!!!
So elegant and unique . Luvvvvv it
fantastic, the way those dials are setup is so cool!!!!
Very surprised to see such a small balsnce wheel on it. Great video Teddy!
In strictly design point of view, between yellow gold and white gold which gild do you think if matches better with this particular design and watch?
Im going to fail no nut november if you keep posting watches like this.
coomer
HAHAHAHAHA
It's that time of the year again

Amazing watch! Simply stunning... unless you are a lefty who wears a watch on the right hand!
Earlier 1921's are smaller and would fit my wrist better. Which watches in the 1921 ouvre are the most valuable and why? Thanks.

Quite something! I would love to try one of these!
There's one for Southeby HK Auction next week, going for cheaper than market

A stunning piece wow.
perfect. i like cushion case watches. have a panerai, soon a cartier drive, and hopefully this one sometime in the distant future :)
Very nice and informative review thank you for sharing

Love your vídeos and watches...
Eric Ripert is frequently photographed wearing one of these.
Eric Leser he has an Overseas, too! Must be a fan of the brand
Any affordable homages for those on a budget?
That's a good question.
This watch is beautiful and I just yesterday bought the Timex TW000CP18 - which seems to be an homage at 20 dollars! :D Not in exact case shape, but the dial font and hands.
The rotated dial is perfect for keyboard typers who want to glance at their watch while typing
My favorite VC
just a thought.. if it is a "drivers" watch maybe it would be more practical

GITMO Holliday Wrong country
Lovely watch. If you have the chance to own either this or the base Lange 1 (no complications), which one would you pick?
This watch looks awesome
My wife loves this watch....I love the overseas...
Any similar looking cheaper alternatives with the same slanted view style ?
Love this watch
I agree a beautiful watch.
Love at first sight

Very Cool Watch..!!👍
How much is the modern version?
Try to cover the Cornes de Vache as there are not many videos on the internet on that watch.
Excellent review Teddy and one of my favourites. Just need someone to give me a pile of cash 💰😁
No doubt a beautifully made watch but really not one for me. Great informative video as usual 👍
The Xeric halograph is a design that I really like. But can turn many off.
