Thank you so much! Just ordered the same paste you've shown. After my buttery smooth Wingman I was pretty disappointed my Wave+ came with stiff pliers and I'm happy to change that
@@EngineersPerspective701 worked extremely well, it's my favourite pair of pliers now. There is a problem with flushing but the abrasive is mostly gone now. Thank you for the guide
just finished watching your work sharp field shaper video, where you smashed up your Leatherman with a rock lmao jk😂, absolutely hooked to all your videos now lol there all right up my alley!
I originally went with the standard charge+ but then switched to the Surge when I was getting into a lot of heavier work. These days though the wave/charge, specifically the Charge + G10 Earth, really is hitting the spot. Just love the platform.
Got some stiff ones recently and instantly thought of this video. I thought I’d use some diamond paste but thought I was remembering wrong. Heck yeah. I’ll try some 1 micron
1) Gritomatic 2) It was the only oil based stropping compound I had on hand 3) Oil based so it could be solubilized by the WD-40. Otherwise it would not mix with water based. I will add that it would be best to use something other than CBN and a smaller grit like 1micron. Cheers
My Skeletool is really smooth even more than yours. Without any process more than normal use. I just got it last week. I thought it was a normal thing with the skeletools. Now, my Wave+ it’s really bad. I’ll be trying that
I love the CBN paste better then gunny juice even, I have the 3 micron, 0.25 micron stuff as well, and just ordered the .5 micron. It gets my knives sticky sharp.
This particular CBN isn't my favorite but the Ken Schwartz emulsions from KME are great. Still think I prefer the Gunny Juice though mostly for how it loads and it seems to cut faster for its micron rating
@@EngineersPerspective701 I used wood stir sticks for the gunny juice and didn’t get good results. The 3 and 0.25 micron cbn is good on wood and smooth leather strops. They are nice for touching up K390.
Did your vic spirit have slop since brand new? Did you have the chance to try to another one? Mine has a little slop simce new and I am trying to figure out if it is normal
I had good success with flushing it out with WD40. Been using the charge pretty consistently until I got the arc in October with no wearing out of the pliers.
Agreed that’s the best way but it doesn’t always work. My surge was used extremely hard for 6 months and is very smooth but the jaws will not open without help. Whereas my Super Tool 300 broke in really nice after about 3 months of arguably lighter duty work. These days I don’t use them as much because I’m at doing things to my house and I prefer to use the real tools for the job. Less need for a Leatherman but I still would like it broken in.
@@EngineersPerspective701 Yeah I started to use my Wingman as a Wave sooo. Poor EDC tool drinks Domestos Thick bleach and other home care goods at the factory. Thats the reason :)

Hope it works out! Make sure to flush it out good!

@@oleksii3923 that’s awesome! Appreciate the update!
I tried a few methods on my Skeletool, and so was a bit skeptical. The 1 micron diamond paste and WD40 worked a treat!
Nice! Make sure to flush it out well with WD40 after and you should be good to go!

Lol, I really went for it on that one! Glad you're enjoying!
Exact same for me same video order
I havent got fancy diamond grit. I rubbed it with a pencil and used wd40. the graphite worked a treat. Same results. Thanks
Very nice tip!
I have a wave plus and it’s my favourite tool seriously man it’s fantastic for everything I need the bit kit with the 3 pocket sheath

Hasn’t introduced slop in my charge yet. Just make sure to really flush it out good!
I just lube my pivot and sawzall the handle back and forth. Also drop them on the floor works like a charm!
The floor drop and wrenching the ever living shit out of them for a task always works great!
Holy s$&@!!! Thank you for the video man!
You’re welcome!
Where did you purchase the paste? Why did you choose 3 micro grit? Why did you choose oil based paste?

Excellent, thank you!

How about using grinding paste?
Just needs to have an oil base that can be solubilized with WD40

That tip is useful. Now if the cutters had a hack to make them work better...✌
If only!

Slop right out of the box unfortunately
@@EngineersPerspective701 thank you
Will using wd40 alone yield similar results?
No, it’s the microabrasive in the paste that does the work. The WD40 is only to make it thinner so it can penetrate into the pivot
Got the same results using hoppes #9 gun lube.
What about getting it out?
If you don't get every molecule of paste out, it'll keep wearing

@@EngineersPerspective701 cool cool
weird mine were super smooth out of the box brand new
It’s very hit or miss! I’ve had smooth and I’ve had so tight you couldn’t use the tool
Probably used and returned
Read the title too quickly and thought wtf? 😂
Lol, I see it now!
I think the best way is to use it ... mine broke in like in 2-3 weeks. Why bother with forced deteoriation.

Makes you wonder what it would do for washer knives
I’ve polished some with a spyderco ultra fine stone and strops with compound. Can make a world of difference!
Can’t I just put on WD 40
No. A lubricant would be better
