I just adored your review of this game. I do have a copy, so a bit biased however the expansion on Kickstarter right now just adds more good things. I need to bring this one back out to the table. Cheers and excellent content, you both!
This is lovely and looks richer than Explorers of the Woodlands too, which we also just got recently in my country (localized), I really hope a publisher here picks this up!
I'd recommend Siege of Runedar if you want a solid tower defense with deck-building - it's our group's favourite (although there's a healthy dose of randomness to it, so ymmv)
I have played at 2 and 4 players. I do not recommend for 4 players because half the time your monsters are all dead on your turn. The deck building is even fainter at 4 players. However!!!! At 2 players it is 1,000% better. Downtime is minimal, more deck building, and more strategy.
"if you started with Spirit Island, respect"... Brother, I started with War of the Ring, my first day of "board gaming" was 8h of War of the Ring with no bathroom breaks. Haven't looked back since xD
Love this game and getting the expansion of course! It is pretty light, but it's also challenging. The downtime is something I see mentioned fairly often, but I just don't see that in our games, even at 4 players (although I find it best at 2). The deckbuiilding could be better, although the new rookies help with that, and it can be random, but most co-ops are, and it's just so much fun that none of that brings it down.
I think because its main strengths are as a non-text family game and as a variable solo game, it slips through the cracks of some reviewers. Especially if they expect it to be a deck builder which it really isn't.
Great review. I agree with all you said. I expected higher score from you guys but I do understand that this game is not for everyone. We played it in a few different groups and it did not sticks with them like with us when we play 2 player game. Less downtime and more coop. For me must have and I will definitely keep the monsters in 😈😇
As soon as i found yalls channel like 2 weeks ago, i have spent hundreds of dollars on board games. Im backing like 4 or 5 currently as well lol. I am like Janis G.. I see shiny and i buy it. send help pls. Keep up the great videos!

The tokens are adorable and this game looks really fun! Great review!
They are super cute!
Seeing Spirit Island and Hegemony at the background is chef's kiss/perfection!
Great content as always, fellas! Love the chemistry!!

I was thinking of buying the loop but now I am considering this option as well.

There is a variant that I believe is in the rule book. You all draw only 3 cards and people take turns in pairs. So at 4 players you could 2 and 2.

Sounds like a fun game to try. Thanks for the great review!
That "I did not!" reminds me of something. It's tearing me apart.

Love this game. It's in my top 5 of all time, and the expansion coming soon will solve all the minor 'quibbles'
Are you guys interested in the expansions?
Great coop game!
You guys make the best reviews!
Thank you!
"That explains so many things." HA HA HA HA!

Welcome to the hobby! :D
What you're going through is like a rite of passage. If you're not careful you're gonna end up with a Kallax shelf behind you filled with board games!
@@thebluemeeple ive already looked at kallax shelves 😂
Love this wideo
card quality looks quiet bad. they are already white on the border and have these ugly stripes.
