I have to disagree with Rhett on saying that the 2000s music sound isn’t defined. Pop punk music, bling era hip hop. And for the 2010s I would say heavy 808s in production not just in hip hop but mainstream pop music as well, the trap music and “SoundCloud rap” era also was culture defining for certain groups and ways that music sounds at least in the hip hop rnb and pop circle.
Hey Armando. Food for thought...I agree with Rhett that the 2000's music is not as defined. But I think that is because I am 45, years old...close to Rhett and Link's age. I can easily define the sounds of the decades I grew up in (70's, 80's and 90's) as well as the decades my parents listened to (20's 30's, 40's, and 50's). The 60's is a decade that I cannot really define...I believe because it was before my time and a musical decade my parent's didn't listen to. And for the 2000's...I have never heard of the genres that you mentioned above...probably because I am old! (LOL) I would bet that you are a younger person than I am...am I right? =)

Laura Inlander yeah I was going to mention the fact that I grew up listening to all this music so to me it seems very defined and represents a point in time, it might just be me getting nostalgic over the songs I used to hear on the radio when I was young or even the stuff I listen to now so I can understand this point of view. I also grew up listening to a lot of Latin/regional Mexican music that my parents would play and even then I can notice the difference between the 90s/80s stuff to what was being put out on the 2000s and now into the 2010s/20s. I understand how it would be difficult for some to pin point these differences because it just becomes a melting pot and especially now with most artists deriving heavy influences from past artists.
Pop music in 2010's is heavily influenced by EDM, with artists like Avicii, Zedd, David Guetta, Deadmau5 dominating pop music during that time. Every mainstream pop music had bass drops and techno/house elements to it.

Rhett's rant about the bed making is exactly why I don't make my bed. It's a pain for no good reason, and for what? I live alone so no one's getting in my bed but me, and no one's going in my room to see it either. There's just no point in my opinion to make your own bed. Guest room beds can be made to look nice though I guess since it's supposed to be seen and used by other people who may come/stay over.

i was born in '01 and i can appreciate that the 70's clearly stands out as the best decade of music. i don't know how to describe it, but the feeling you get when listening to 70's music is different than any other. 2010's music has a nostalgic feel for me as it's the soundtrack to my childhood, but it still doesn't come close to the impact the 70's has.
Cant wait to see what yall have planed for when all this crazyness is over.

I think less people understand music theory before they are musicians. While I dont think you need to know it, I think the amount who do is down and it shows. People dont know their instruments, they just know some songs.
Highly untrue, you just aren’t in the studios with the young kids actually cooking up something. A lot of them are self taught, and know every inch of whatever software they’re using along with the fundamentals of basic music theory and then some. That is how music was able to be innovated to what it is now. They may not be reading it in books as often true, however they’ve simply been learning about it in a different way, mostly practical. They also don’t always share everything they know for obvious reasons!

As a long time fan of Rhett & Link with GMM, I have to request that when this whole quarantine is OVER & we don’t “need” to abide by the 6 ft. Social Distancing rule. Once this is all over Rhett & Link head out to the beach with a long board as well as a paddle board, then have either Chase or Stevie recording you guys from either a Go-Pro or some sort of camera 🎥 . Then we need to see you guys, film a “GMM; Rhett shows Link how to surf!” Do it dudes!!!🤘🏼😆🤘🏼
They basically did that during the (last episode?) of The Mythical Show. They got a long boarding lesson from a professional with Go-Pros and everything. Your idea would be very entertaining, though!

I'm with Rhett's wife on the bed thing. I never leave my room with the bed not made. And I'm with Link in that I don't get under the covers when I nap. I just lay on top of the bed with a comfy blanket from the closet.
Yes!. Plus that gives me a excuse to justify new blanket purchases. "oh no...where is our spare blanket (stuffed in the closet folded and beneath the snuggie-which has long lost favor to the comfy I might add)..I'll just get another, in case we have guests (we never do) and I have been eyeing that one (50) at Target (Barnes & Noble, the local grocery store-basically any blanket....)
I’m the same way. The room just feels fresh when the bed is made. And it just feels so much better to get your favorite blanket and take a little nap on a made bed. It drives me crazy that my husband gets under the covers to take a nap! He doesn’t get why it annoys me so much and honestly I don’t either lol

Sometimes I feel like the only couple who actually enjoyed my wedding 😂 I think it helped that we did things the way we wanted to instead of the way we were expected to. I know that not everything went the way we wanted, but it didn't matter in the end.

Rhett I just have to say your take on specifically the transition on music and markets being able to produce artists of a certain caliber, from there continue to get better at it and the Analogy of the nba in comparison was superb and spot on.

I live relatively close to Santa Cruz and a surfer was recently killed by a great white. Great whites are pretty common in the area. And now with not as many surfer's out, they have taken back more of their hunting territory in the shallows. I would be scared of sharks too!
If I could go back and experience a memory all over again without any repercussions, I'll definitely pick the moment I saw my baby sister being born. Because that is the only memory that is worth going back for. #EarBiscuits

Not really a single moment, but I would love to relive my last month or so of university. It was super stressful school-wise but I spent a lot of time with my closest friends because we knew we would all go on to live in different cities after graduating and never see each other as often as we did again. Even in the moment, I was hyper aware of how special that time in my life was and how much I was going to miss it and now that I've passed the one year anniversary of graduating during quarantine and we don't really know when we can visit each other again, I am REALLY missing it.

In regards to the music subject, literally anyone can get their music out into the world now. Back in the 70's 80's it was much harder to get your music recognized and then popular. So anything that the general public heard had already gone through the steps to be broadcasted. I'm sure there was plenty of bad music then as well. You just didn't hear it.

I've also had a dolphin surf with me for a brief moment in Morro Bay, CA. It was definitely the highlight of my life. It was a beautiful moment. Definitely something I think about all the time.
I’m 20 years old and have never been a fan of basketball but I found The Last Dance absolutely fascinating. It made me wish I could’ve experienced Jordan in his prime and really made me feel like I would’ve been a big fan of his...even made me want some Air Jordans!

I think that there used to be a barrier of being instrumentally talented that you had to jump before you could even find out if you were talented in composition - but plenty of people have unique, beautiful musical voices without any way to let them out. Digital music is a way to let that music in your head out, without investing years into an instrument

I watched The Last Dance. I am not a basketball fan, but I am interested in the people. It is amazing. The editing is incredible.
a great example of what Rhett is talking about is Dua Lipa's song Cool. that harkens back to the 80s pop vibe while being absolutely new and fresh. something like that is less of a departure than other songs coming out now.
I wouldn't consider myself as a part of something in particular but if I'm surrounded by strangers I will find a person, maybe just by looks but still, a person that is a fan of the same things I love and feel welcome and home there. So I wouldn't say I'm into a random fandom but my "fandom stuff" will connect me to other people that love the same things or are one a fandom anyway.

#EarBiscuits Question/Topic Suggestion: What has surprised you on a personal level, about how you've reacted/felt over the past 2+ months, and how it differs from how you thought it would go, heading into it. I know you talked briefly about that, and most of what you've talked about is how you're coping with family etc, but I've been noticing themes when I talk to people I know "in real life" about how they're dealing with it on an individual level. I thought it might be nice to discuss on the video what your experience has been, and perhaps people can comment too about what they've experienced.
I had an enlightening group discussion with my team this week, when our supervisor brought up something she had read/heard about dealing with it, things like it's expected that people aren't going to be as productive despite being at home, because of the mental/emotional aspect of being isolated. It was very interesting, and in that meeting I said it was nice to know that others are dealing with the same types of things, that I'm not an island and the only one who finds it challenging.

I was born in 2000, and didn't start following basketball until after the Cavs drafted LeBron. 'The Last Dance' is easily the best documentary I've ever watched. I can't wait to see what ESPN does next.

My son needs a mattress so bad! His is sooooooo old! And we can't afford another one. But! We are blessed. Some poeple don't have a mattress at all and sleep on the floor or dirt floor for that matter. So in retrospect, no complaints! Very blessed!
The reason 70s, 80s and 90s music was “so good” is because they only play the best of the decades now. There not going to play the bad songs of that decade 🤣
Not to mention, the fact that all of, if not most of the music of those decades was performed live with actual instruments & not SO MUCH electronics, making up that whole EDM craze that’s happened within the past few years

This is just a generational thing. Electronic music has changed so much in 10 years. If you listen to the draft punk/deadmau5/skillex growth and now look at artists like excision, aweminus, badklaat, chime, dion timmer, etc etc you can hear the evolution of the sound. Producing is sooo involved and includes so much music theory knowledge, and personally resonates with me SO MUCH. edm/dubstep is to me your 70s and 80s music.

Rhett- per making bed making easier....
from my time in Germany, one thing I found was that they don’t use a top sheet typically. They just have a duvet with a duvet cover that is washed pretty often. My husband and I use this now, and it is sooo much faster to make the bed... just straighten up the duvet and DONE
Also, I am so with Link on blankets and tone of the house with cleanliness in general..But I dont make the bed every morning, but I will without fail make it before getting in at the end of my day if I haven't already.

I feel you with the thing about the duvet this is why I think it is the way it is if your duvet is all set up will it fit in your washing machine or will just that cover fit in the washing machine unless you've got something commercial I think the answer would be just the cover would fit that's why that is the way it is
My husband and I always leave our blankets on the sofas. Ain't nobody got time to fold them every evening when I'm just gonna use it again the next day.
