    Hello, hope you're all well and had a lovely week:) So I thought you might like to see the big decluttering and organising of my new Autumn capsule wardrobe. Sorry about the mess! It literally feels like a breath of fresh air having done it, I cannot recommend the process enough! I just need to buy actual wardrobes now for our dressing room which I think I'll get from Ikea again as they worked so well.
    I've linked below a selection of my 'perfect Autumn capsule wardrobe'. Some items I have and some are on my wish list. Those high quality, elegant and timeless pieces I'm sure I'd never regret investing in:)
    Please remember I work in fashion so it is my job to have more clothes than 'normal'. I'm very lucky to be gifted clothes often and I spend a larger than normal portion of my wages on fashion. My wardrobe is full because it is my job, please don't ever feel under pressure to 'keep up' so to speak. Fashion is fun but keep it that way, only spending what you can truly afford:)
    Also, my apologies I missed my Wednesday video this week:/ All three of my boys are September birthdays so it's a busy month! Parties, cake, presents, and repeat! But I'll still be here on Sunday's as usual and be back on Wednesday's as soon as it's a bit quieter:) A depop account will follow too!
    Big hugs everyone and thanks so much for watching. Do let me know in the comments section what's on your wish list or any great pieces you've discovered along the way? Jess x
    *Some of these links may be affiliates which means I make a small percentage from what you spend. This doesn’t change the cost to you but does help me to create more content for you to enjoy:)*

    Great to see a 'real' wardrobe! Instead of starting a capsule wardrobe, call it a mindful wardrobe. When you love fashion, and dressing up, having one of these capsules just won't work, you need more flexibility. However it doesn't mean you cant be more careful in what you buy, slow down and buy more sustainably. As you are......thanks for keeping it real.

    • @FashionStyleEdit
      @FashionStyleEdit  4 года назад +3

      Haha I like that, my mindful wardrobe:) I do envy these bloggers who can seemingly get by with a few t-shirts and trousers but I'd feel a bit cheated somehow if I did that? A little sprinkle of fun and your own personal style has to creep in there! Have a great week Charlotte and thanks again for watching x

    After watching your channel last night, I got so motivated and start working on my closet. I managed to give away a whole big bag of clothes I don't' need, and organize the one makes me joy. Now I feel must easier to find things to mix and match, of course with the new jeans I got, they looked absolutely chic. Thank you Jess.

    Hi Jess, love watching you declutter and develop your capsule wardrobe. It is always inspirational to see how someone else filters through their things and decides what stays and what goes. Your wardrobe for the fall and winter looks to have a beautiful color scheme! Very pretty and as well I love your handbag collection! Thank you for this video.

      Thank you so much Wanda:) I really feel like my wardrobe has come together more over the last couple of years. I think however big or small your own wardrobe might be the key is to really consider how much wear you get from each piece? That really helps me decide what should stay or go x

    Hi Jess! As always,I really admire your taste and style. The pale blue linen knit you’re wearing in the intro is divine and looks gorgeous on you. Still a little early here in Greece to sort out my autumn/winter wardrobe as temperatures are still in the 30’s! When I do my change over,it’s a great opportunity to de-clutter. It’s so,so easy to use the words”Yes,but maybe....” and we have to be very stern with ourselves and actually serves to remind me that trend pieces are not sustainable fashion and investing in more classic styles,colours and fabrics is the way forward. I have definitely pressed my bell so never miss your videos ! Take care x💗

    • @FashionStyleEdit

      Aah 30 degrees in Greece that sounds beautiful:) Funnily enough my Husband was supposed to be flying there today. Sadly on his way back from the airport now as he forgot to do the QR code!! I do have to force myself to be stern with myself and my wardrobe, it's so hard isn't it. Especially when it's something someone else has bought me and there's sentimental reasons there. But I can't deny a big declutter feels soooo much better. Like that big Spring clean feeling. Happy Sunday Allison, here's to a lovely week x

    You chose some beautiful pieces for fall. I love those sophisticated colors you chose for your coloring. A while back when I was in my twenties, I went to a modeling school. My mom told me I needed to go to a finishing school to learn how to carry myself and learn how to dress. The instructor told us that we needed to have a nice white winter coat. I found one and bought it, I bought it in Layaway when stores did that. It was so beautiful and I still have it. It is packed away in a moving box. I hope the moths have not eaten into it.

    I’ve always considered it a very English thing to store away seasonal clothing in the attic. We don’t have extreme weather changes in Australia, so I’ve never thought to do it, but you’re absolutely right that it would be therapeutic to go through and edit at the end of the season. Spring and Autumn in Perth are just slight transitions, so I’m going to start doing this twice a year. Having a capsule wardrobe will cut down the confusion of what to wear each day. I have old clothes being stored in wardrobes in spare bedrooms I need to clear out first. I’ve been putting it off long enough! Thanks for the inspiration. 🥰 One in, one out...good luck with that. 😉

    • @FashionStyleEdit
      @FashionStyleEdit  3 года назад

      Hi Cathy, hope you're well lovely:) I'm quite jealous of your year round sunshine, I think I could get very used to that! I don't think a full capsule wardrobe is right for everyone but perhaps taking out those key 'Summer' pieces might be useful? I find it helpful to clear the rail of pieces I know I won't wear through Autumn and it suddenly makes outfit ideas so much clearer to see. I guess what I mean is I had too much cluttering my rail!! And yes, feel free to try and keep me in check with the one in one out idea haha!! Have a great week hun x

    Jess, I loved this! Bought a few new pieces during the week. I buy around my bag collection, ie my husband bought me a beautiful Prada navy/ khaki bag years ago and I picked up a khaki mohair robe coat recently. Also bought a vintage brown shearling jacket and navy satin trench from Etsy. I really lucked out - they are gorgeous. Love your style - you look fab in cool and warm colour palettes - and your autumn wardrobe is gorgeous. Will definitely look in to Shoptagr. X

    Don’t use a de-bobbler on cashmere - use a cashmere comb. You can buy them from The White Company, Brora or the Wardrobe Company. To ease a jumper that’s been washed too small wash it in Luke warm water with loads of hair conditioner, don’t rinse then literally pin it to a flat surface and ease it out to its original size and let it air dry. Then gently press it under a low iron with fabric over the top, then hand wash it to get the conditioner out

    Lovely pieces, a gorgeous neutral palette. I love it all. But I do think if you were to apply the "mix 'n match" approach diligently, you would find that you need FAR less than you have culled. Not suggesting that you halve your capsule, but maybe pull out 10-15 pieces, (yes!) and THEN make outfit combinations based on what remains. You can use Shoptagr for this. You will find that you can create 100's of outfits, much more than you will ever need for the season. From there you could go even smaller, if you chose to. A "minimalist" capsule is not for everyone and there's no shame in having more vs. less if you prefer that, but you might be surprised how much EASIER it is to create outfits when you are not overwhelmed by the volume of your choices. Just a suggestion.
    If you do this please include us on the journey so we can see how (or if) it works for you... thanks for listening. Much love from NYC 👛 xx

    • @FashionStyleEdit
      @FashionStyleEdit  3 года назад

      Hi lovely, thanks so much for the suggestion:) I was actually thinking of filming a video based on just the 10-15 classics. I shall get round to filming that. In terms of a capsule wardrobe I must admit I get a little bored without choice? Not in volume but in those pieces that are personality driven. The random pieces that scream what our personal style truly is and would be our statement pieces. Hopefully I’m explaining myself properly here and you know what I mean! I added a couple of new pieces to my wardrobe recently and intend on taking a few away to balance it. But I think I’ve finally managed to bridge the gap to having a capsule but one that doesn’t lack personality too x

    Hi Jess, just got round to watching this one as I've been on the coast visiting my parents, perfect timing as the weathers turned glorious, been at a beautiful bay today and dipped my toes in the sea, not too cold actually! I never take seasonal clothes out of my wardrobe, this is something that I need to start doing, you do it so well. Mind you I tend to wear the same clothes all year round unless they're particularly summery and just layer cardi or blazer on top. It would give me more room to choose what to wear if I had the space to shuffle them about tho.....xx

    After a very itchy winter, I’ve decided to ban acrylic sweaters. Every one I bought, even if it has just a few percent of acrylic, was uncomfortable, especially at the seams. I already banned polyester a long time ago. The more I watch your wonderful channel, Jess, the more the importance of high quality is brought home to me. Unfortunately, the selection of natural fiber clothes, like silk and cashmere, is so much more limited than in the synthetic ones, and of course, the price is about triple, at least. But, unwearable clothes are not a bargain at any price.

    The Rit Dye brand makes a color remover for discolored light items accidentally put in with a dark washer load. I haven’t tried it, but it would be worth a try, if you otherwise love a garment that this happened to.

    Absolutely love your videos. It's so much my style and your wonderful outfit combinations help me figure out what to wear and what to get rid of in my closet. I have several beautiful cashmere cardigans and sweaters. I store them in the summer with cedar chip sachets which helps with moths, but unfortunately, some ended up with moth holes. I'm wondering how you store your beautiful sweaters during summer and also during the fall and winter and if you do anything special to keep moths from ruining them.

      Hi Nina, thank you so much for watching and I really appreciate you taking the time to get in touch💛 The joy of moths hey, they drive us all potty!! I used to have a cashmere brand and so many beautiful pieces I tried to keep safe one season got ruined by the pesky things:/ I put all my out of season storage clothes in the attic in a box lined with acid free tissue paper and I throw in a couple of moth ball deterrents I bought in John Lewis. I’m not sure if the name so I’ll double check that for you. They’re not foolproof, I’ve still had the odd hole appear but they’re far better than others I’ve tried. Let me have a search for you see if I can find the name😘 x

    I have wardrobe envy! What a perfect collection Jess. Thank you for the inspiration. I hope you've still got a few summer pieces to hand though, as it's supposed to be 28 degrees over next couple of days here in the UK! X

    I'm sure You will always be well dressed this fall winter. My problem with capsule wardrobe is - I miss the fun of fashion. To try new things, to dress according to a mood. Don't You have any fancy clothes? Something for special occasions or just for fun?

      Hi Regina, thanks so much for watching:) I think with my own capsule wardrobe I'm lots more flexible than most for that very reason. I like to integrate the odd new thing that perhaps I see along the way. Something that inspires me and I just have to have! There are no rules with a capsule wardrobe so you really can make it as big, small,colourful,monochrome for example as you wish:) It's just the idea of keeping it 'tight' so to speak so that it makes the process of putting outfits together so much easier. Everyone looks at a capsule differently but that's how I see it:) x

      @@FashionStyleEdit Hi Jess, I believe you, a capsule wardrobe makes life easier. It seems so easy for you how you put them all together. I'll try it. But I'm also a fashion collector, so I'll keep my treasures. As you say, there are no rules. Thank you for the inspiration. I like your style.

    Happy Birthdays! Inspiring vid. Jess, I didn't see the Sezane camel high waisted wide leg tie belt (!) trousers?? Love them!

      Aww thanks Joan, it's a busy house this month! I had to trim the video down as I seemed to have waffled for ages when I filmed this one:/ So there's a few pieces in there that I might not have shown. Though I did decide for the minute to leave the camel trousers in the Summer box, perhaps too lightweight for Winter? I'll see how the weather goes with that one, I might have to get them back down again. Have a wonderful week lovely x

    Possibly my favorite season! Such richness and texture. Definitely some fantastic ideas Jess! Ok so I'm heading back to work for the first time in like 10 years-yikes. I'll be working in a clinic seeing patients but I would still like to look tres chic and comfortable. Please, please do a video on casual workwear, autumnal workwear. I almost went broke from making about 10 purchases from Sezane lol. I think I have the basics, 2 jumpers, Austin jeans, eco friendly jeans, a cigarette pant (ecru and brown), jack sneakers, Scott trench, and 4 blouses in Ecru/hazelnut/Black lace, Irma necklace, and Charlie earrings in Ecru- omg I just saw this typed out and my husband is going to kill me lol! Sending love from Seattle!

    Can you do a lookbook on how to style warm, textured, Autumn colors WITH BLACK? When I chose my A/W capsule I find it is an either/or situation. I LOVE all my camel, rust, beige colors but then am stuck with never knowing what to do with my black boots, black leather skirt or black jeans. I can’t figure out how to make them play nicely together.

      That's a lovely idea for a video thank you Ann:) One trick I tend to do a lot as most of my shoes are black too is make sure I just bring in another element of black with the rust tone outfit. So black shoes and black handbag ties them in nicely even if your outfit is very brown tones. Or a headband or scarf even. Just two touches of it feels like it brings it back together:) x
