I could be wrong but it feels like most reimplementations of games make them a little crunchier or “gamer-y” these days. LOTR Duel does the opposite, smooths out some rough edges/mathiness of 7WD and makes it more accessible.

I vastly prefer tactical over strategic games myself. Partly since I'm not great at advanced planning, and partly because tactical games generally move faster. I have the Clank Catacombs expansion, but haven't gotten it played yet.

TerraForming Mars -> take out nothing. Have all the cards in every game for variety. Draft method prevents pure luck of the draw determining the winner. My wife and I have played Terraforming Mars probably more than 50 times (even though it is a 3-5 hour game). Sometimes we don't feel like playing the physical game and play the fan made herokuapp online version (probably played that one 20-30 times on top of how many times we've played the physical version). Prelude 2 was an instant buy for us along with the new maps and especially love the "big map" for longer games and higher player count games. The only thing we never picked up was the Turmoil expansion which doesn't sound interesting to us at all.

That’s completely fair, but I’d wager too that you’re the exception rather than the rule among those who own a lot of the expansions
