    Its so surreal and awesome to come back to something like this now that we're in the ATTENTION ATTENTION days and see that he was speaking the truth and followed through.

    Brent is the perfect musician. He's so talented, and has the most incredible voice i've ever heard. His lyrics are deep and beautiful. He's not a screw up talent, and he changed his life around. And all this makes him sexy I guess. Shinedown is the best band...ever.

    I have nothing but the utmost respect for this man, and I'm not even the biggest fan of their music, although they do have some killer tunes. To be man enough to openly talk about his past problems shows what kind of man he is people have no right to judge him!
    I am 36 and battled addiction for 20 years so I feel his pain, but like himself, when I had children it turned my life around. Some people are not so lucky and for them my heart breaks. Kudos to you sir, a fellow knoxville man!

    I have never yet met a drummer who didn't always have a beat running through his or her head, and who didn't tap fingers, toes, head-bob or fidget in their seat along with it. Drummers are unique creatures and trying to get one to sit still is like trying to stop rain from falling. Just enjoy them like you would any other wild animal. :-) Shinedown rocks my socks off, huge talent here and his voice just gives me shivers.

    Breaking an oxy addiction is so goddamn difficult to do... regardless of your reasons, the people in your life, the reasons you give yourself... it is just so goddamn hard. Props to anyone who's battling this right now - you will fail, you will relapse, but that is *part of the process.* Forgive yourself. Stay strong.

    • @mandielou
      @mandielou 6 лет назад +1

      Jammin Jami your brother can beat this! He just has to want it and pray! It's hard work but I'm 4 years clean from heroin and opiates. I've been trying my hardest to get clean for 5 years but that's why I say 4 bc I had 2 small relapses but picked my self back up and told myself" I am worth more than this feeling" ask God to intervene and help you fight the devil bc the devil usually has a grip... Equates to "addiction" . Tell your brother that God wants him to forgive himself and to believe that if he asks Jesus for salvation that he will be saved. It help him fight with the holy Spirit. We are so much more than this Physical body we see. We are way more spiritual than some of us realize. We just have to wake up and sometimes it takes a lot of pain and suffering for enough to be enough.. you know? But it'll be ok...tell your brother how you feel often about what his actions are causing you and the family, ask him to get help and that you'll be there for him throughout his recovery and pray, pray and pray some more. Good luck hun and God bless you and your family 💜💙💚💛

    Brent has done something that I've tried for years. I can't shack my addiction to meth. I've lost everything, I've even lost myself. The worse pain is knowing I lost my daughter to my addiction, drugs seemed to be more important. I'm not well, and I don't belong here. However I'll keep fighting, and when my day comes to cross the great divide. To all other addicts out there, your not alone.

    brent's one of the few guys that has his head on straight. my sperm donor of a birth dad's an alcoholic & from what my mom has told me about him, i wouldn't doubt he's tried nearly everything under the sun. sure, there were the few moments where he was a decent guy & everything, but he was never really there for me or my brothers. being there for ur kid to help 'em w/ anything u can or just a comforting hug is being a parent. the fact that he's quit for his son is pretty damn remarkable

    I love Brent. I think he's the most talented vocalist in today's music industry. There were some things in the interview that I didn't agree with. You're always an addict. In AA and NA you introduce yourself as an addict or alcoholic. Usually when you relapse you get worse than before. $2500 a week jesus! It's amazing that he can drink like a "normal" person. I respect the fact that he turned things around because statistically almost all addicts in the world don't get to that point.

    The better question would be, why does every celebrity do drugs? Because there are plenty of pop, r&b, rap, country, actors, etc..that are on drugs, rock stars are the ones who just don't hide it. Plus, I can relate, as a fellow musician, when I'm under the influence of a substance, inspiration for songs comes a hell of a lot easier and faster.
