Was toying around in the editor to check out the new patch which include night operation for supercarrier module. I decided to record anyway and man, i have to say the night ops in supercarrier is now more fun than ever!

As a pilot, that would be terrifying to look back over my shoulder after takeoff on a night like that knowing I’d have to come back and land on that thing.
An A-7 pilot once told me "i think everyone on the carrier was a little insane back then, thats the only reason we believed we could get it off the deck and back on again"
@@vihurah9554 You're at just the right age to be mature and educated enough to survive, and young enough to believe you are immortal.
Who lands aircraft just eject
I spent 4 years working the flight deck of the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 from 86 to 90. I was a red shirt Aviation Ordnanceman. I can tell you from direct experience this is as accurate as it gets. Even that yellowish light that makes every thing look so surreal is spot on. We did a North Atlantic cruise up in the North Sea and it rained every day/night for 27 days straight. I didn't see the sun for 2 months. Just brutal and the sim doesn't quite capture it perfectly but damned close. You can get the idea of what it was like.
Roosevelt is in the game i believe.
@@SA80TAGE It certainly is.
That is what we call setting up the mood. DCS is getting totally awesome. Cant wait for them to invest a bit of time on the infantry.
Do you mean A.I? Or playable infantry?
@@gb7418 i think he meant the AI infantry. The model are still very bad, except for the latest russian infantry & georgian rifleman. They are quite ok.
@@gb7418 The infantry models mostly, they really look out of place in that beautiful world. They feel like the units of the 90's game. The one on the carrier are awesome though.
I can't wait until they fix the main game bugs, wish they would address that before putting out DLC on a buggy ass game... :( I sold my Nvidia card as it looked like shit in this game (RTX2080) went to RX5700XT and it blows away the nvidia stuttering , crash to desktop , tearing, artifact garbage drivers I run 3 4k monitors and the nvidia shit can't hold a candle to my AMD now, I have 3 identical computers and one had the nvidia shit in it.. and was tired of the FPS dropoffs after 20 mins of gaming.. Grrr
@@zsavage1820 There aren’t a ton of game bugs.
Thats my ship!!!! CVN-73 USS George Washington!!! Got daym!! I spent 13 months total straight sea time on that ship. It was my home! I was stationed on it from 4/01-5/05!!
The only thing that truly gave it away as a game was the fact that the pilot's hands stayed on the stick - in an actual F/A-18 Hornet Carrier Catapult launch, the pilot's hands would be placed on the canopy handrails until after the plane was off the deck.
ED is working on a new pilot for the hornet who will do that
What gave it away for me was the lack of graininess, which would be present on a real camera shooting at night, and maybe the visibility being a bit too good for a rainy night, especially with lots of bright lights that would light up the rain as it was falling causing haze. Of course all of this together would be unreasonable to expect in real-time gameplay, otherwise the graphics are amazing!
@@ItsaDigitalHamster It is suppose to simulate the pilot's view, not a camera's one.
@@jonnekjonneksson Since you can’t record through pilots vision we use action cams to record POV videos. This looks too good to be recorded with an action cam on a rainy night, so you realize it’s a game and not real.
@@barsdogukankarakoyun8798 well the point of the game is to play as a pilot so you kind of need to see from the pilots point of view and not from a camera
This video make me remember the plane mission in battlefield 3
Nice video bro 👍
You're right.
Hey mate, you know what would make this video look even better?
If you had turned on secondary shadows in the system settings, it adds a secondary light source that casts shadows on the carrier deck!
Wow, i didn't know that. Thanks for the tips! I will try it out
Great footage although i missed a proper Trimm :)
btw: Exterior Lights are used instead of the salute during night ops. Light on = Ready to launch.
Nice 👍
Haha that explains the confusion I had the other evening during my first carrier night op, lmao.
what lights? slime/ landing????
@@cayenne7792 pos lights.
@@Stormrider-Flight thanks! the normal salute won't work at night?
so cool,it's much awesome to be a naval pilot, flying on the dark ocean
Awesome. thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing this
It's like my dates Dad giving me the cars to his 409 Chevy classic
looks amazing!
Indeed, especially if we have a good rig. Mine is consider mid-tier rig, good enough for me
@@Rodz88 indeed! :D
fantastic!!
Yeah, looks so good.
Beautiful video! Pro tip, trim stabs to 15 degrees and you wont get the master alarm blaring at you when you throttle up to launch.
Thank you sir for the tips!
amazing
Nice!
Excellent video. DCS keeps getting better and better, like aging of a fine Whiskey or wine. Only thing I would have done is reduced interior cockpit lighting intensity to help eyes better adjust to low light environment. But that's just me :)
And that VR support could be so much better. But alas.
Clean footage. Very nice!
it's cooool!!
An aural warning setting power usually indicates something important. In that case, the seat was not armed.
Wasn't the seat. It was take off trim
You got a new subscriber thank you for those awesome videos Keep up🙏🙏🤍🤍
OutLaw, thank you so much for your support! 🍻
The prowler 🤤
Nice mod! The ED video suggested we'd have a pitching deck, I guess that is a feature to come!?
I hope that is coming soon, but i like them to work on next texture for all existing assets too. like somw ground units & lot of the AI aircraft. Some still looks really really ugly for today's standard.
I loaded up an old version of KA-50 when it was a stand alone game and WOW! It's really incredible that they've been able to upgrade DCS so much.
Question:
After the update, lighting on the wands and deck look amazing but I can’t seem to get the red/green tower lights or the floodlights to turn on. It’s only the smaller circular lights. Any thoughts?
Nice footage. BTW during night ops you put your exterior lights on when your ready for launching. This is instead of the usual salute during daytime launch
Thanks for the info, no wonder the AI turn on their lights just before take off
@@Rodz88 yeah 👍, also case 3 recovery you turn ext lights on when starting your commence and then when you catch wire and full throttle till stopped you then idle throttle and switch ext lights off at the same time. Then taxi, if you keep lights on when taxiing it indicates you have a brake pressure failure.
It would be a pleasure to get a full video of taking off, flying and landing
Noted. I will upload full sortie, i do have a scenario in my mind.
Hey, Nice video! look great! I don't mean to intrude but for carrier launches you're supposed to spool up to mil power, salut, than when the final check guy puts his knee on the ground thats when you put the trottle to full aft. Otherwise great procedure
Thank you! And thanks for the info, i didn't know that!
If this sim had deck crew or traffic directors that not only did the cat shot, but had you park, chain, chock or move you around as a real carrier deck crew does, before and after flights etc. Now that would be the ultimate naval flight simulator.😊 It is possible as flight simulators like FSX and Xplane have very detalied ramp crews and or everything needed for airline services. Be it paid addon or not but this is really needed in DCS as even ARMA has some similar mods.
i know the working deck crew with almost all feature mentioned by you was mentioned WIP by ED. cant wait to have the upgrade
Hi guys, the mod that i used are these 2:

Hati hati boss terbangnya....😅😅
Love it how you set the ambient.
Got a question. Did you use any mods?
Right at the beginning you see a SH-60. I’m wondering if they finally reworked it.
ah, the navy finally got their intruders. When did this happen?
has been some time since I was on the carrier deck...
I need to see a part 2 to this...the strike mission
Oh yes. It is still WIP 😉

Battlefield 3 jet mission good memories
How did you get that green cursor in the cockpit?
Pretty impressive, was wondering if that's a downloadable mission or at least what are it's settings as far as weather goes.
You can download it & check out the weather preset. The link is pinned on the comment section.
(amazing grafiks)
When I set up carrier ops I get all the aircraft, including mine, launched and on their way. But for some reason I cannot get them to land. When their mission is complete, they enter the pattern to land, but will not actually land. They just do a fly by and enter the pattern again. Is there some way of clearing the personnel from the deck so that planes can land? I would imagine the waist cat crews standing there is preventing the jets from landing. Am I missing some command in the editor to clear the deck?
Beautiful! So good it actually made me terrified!
Any chance you could put your mission file somewhere shareable? I am VERY lazy :)
Thanks! I will upload it soon once im back from my short holiday.

@@Rodz88 You are a star. Have many likes and a subscribe. I already started on my own version just to learn how to do it and it is nearly done so I'm now educated enough to compare our two files and actually understand what you did. You get into DCS and every day is a school day! Cheers mate. I'll PM you a link to my test mission when done. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
@@Gary.Holmes thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed the video & if you keen on some combat with lot of flying with AI do check out some of my latest videos. I do posted the Miz file to try out.
This looks great! But my Question is: How do you enable those Raindrops on the Canopy??? I've looked everywhere, no results.
It's under system, look bottom right, rain droplet. You have to check the box to enable it
Cool DCS video, should of called it night cat launch because in the US Navy when your on a carrier your not taking off.
Oh yes, you are right. thank you for pointing that out.
Is the sound mod worth it? Might check it out if it especially has jets flying overhead being audible as well
overall, i can say they are worth it. I like the rework on all Flaming Cliff 3 jets, they all sound awesome now
interior sounds don’t sound like the hornet at all.
Amazing. So tempted to get this, but the learning curve divided by available time is an issue.
Same here, i was flying in Arma 3 & war thunder for so long. I felt like it's time to step up the challenge, i just started DCS in mid 2020 with flaming cliff 3 as my first module. 2 years now, i owned almost all the high fidelity modules. My favorite module has to be the F-18
It isn’t that tough to learn, you’d be able to cold and dark start easily and then fly around doing circuits etc and you can learn over time. Besides, it’s fun!
Keep considering it man. It is really tough to learn this game. not that it is impossible but every time I sit down to play someone needs somethings and I have to alt f4 but when you finally make the progress it is so rewarding.
If you look at it as a whole then yea it can be intimidating and overwhelming. I got 4 kids, a wife and a full time job with hardly any free time. The best way is to break it down by one skill at a time.
First learn to cold start, taxi, takeoff and land. Play around with that for awhile until you master those. Then pick one navigation system to learn. Then pick one A/A or A/G weapon to learn. There's in game training or youtube videos for just about every system. It took me over a year to get to the point to stop getting owned by the AI in air to air combat and landing on the carrier without fear after an hour long mission but it is so satisfying to master each thing.
Hey man good graphics! Might tell you're graphic settings and Wich gpu you have?
Im running i5-10600k CPU with RXT 3060-ti, 32GB ram. The settings are custom, i will share the screenshot of my settings in the community post
Great vid but your elevator trim should be 16, 17, or 19 depending on weight for carrier ops. 12 is used for land runway takeoff. Don't ignore caution advisories and deele deedle's... the aircraft is trying to tell you something important.
Roger that, thanks for the tips!
Hi, I just tried to download your mission, but it doesnt come up on DCS. Any idea why?
Do you use any mods for cockpit switch sounds or engine sounds? Great video
im using the echo-19 sound mod yeah
With due respect for effort of making; I do believe that hydrophobic quality of the canopy is strictly desired yet already the property of plexiglass material for maximum visibility in all weather.
The distorted view out the multi million tax dollars warplane is unthinkable.
Are you using trackIR? if so, amazing range of motion without jumping or losing sync.
Yes i do. It's more of a DIY track IR my friend did for me pair with a PS3 camera. I have to say im liking it.
What sound mod you using for the 18?
Hey it is the sound mod by Echo 19: www.echo19audio.com/
@@Rodz88 Thanks :)

I think in 10 years, this will look like a primitive game of 1980s. I can’t wait for total immersion holographic vision system with a 360 real world photorealistic graphics and sophisticated motion system. It needs to have the actual cockpit set up in an enclosed cockpit with all the actual switches and buttons and fully working avionics.
That is our dream! The closet so far will be VR at the moment
@@Rodz88 True. Maybe it’ll be even more sophisticated than we can imagine today.
Yup I'm getting a p.c. and getting this and arma...that's it lol
Wise choice my friend 🥂
Awesome update, isn't it?
Yes it was. Managed to finally turn on my pc to try it myself
amazing! do you use reshade presets?
Oh yes, it was my own preset. But I lost the file when I reformat my PC. I had 2 - daytime & nighttime preset
@Rock88one do you still have it loaded into reshade? you should be able to do a save as
how do i take the drive link and get it into my dcs??
i worked on the flight deck for 4 yrs as a director. getting rained on sucks for sure. as often as i could, i'd stand behind a A-6 to try off, took about 3 minutes. you could get pretty much all of you dry except your socks, they would be perma-wet until you got off work at midnight : \
Wow! That must be an amazing experience! I would love to see the actual atmosphere in real life. Glad that there is DCS World that at least make our dream partially come true (nothing beats the real experience)

This is the Legacy Hornet, it doesn't have digital display. The one in MSF2020 is the super hornet, the modern upgraded hornet.
how to do grapjic like this
actually reshade filter make this scene looks so cool but it does have impact on your FPS.
Man it would be dope as fuck if they put Chinese or Turkish playable aircrafts in this game
So far there are J-11 for the Chinese & F-16 for the Turkish, not too bad still
I wish my PC was powerful enough 😕
I started with a low spec pc & slowly upgrade my way to mid tier pc, worth the journey
Country boys are better than in you City Slickers and I'm a city slicker but I know they're smarter than us and my dad called it like it was he said some cars out of control and I'm going I'm fighting the wheel
yeah..... for all you mission builders out there?
take it from a navy vet (94-02) stationed on destroyers and carriers........ SMALL BOYS WILL **NOT** BE THAT CLOSE TO THE CARRIER
especially not IN FRONT of the carrier (ahead of the beam)
and ESPECIALLY not at night!
all that "realism" goes right out the door when i see ppl putting those ships right next to the carrier
the REALISTIC place for a small boy will be in the plane guard position
and that is 170 (relative ---- so right behind and slightly to the right of the carrier's wake) and a thousand yards (or so) back
Thanks for the valuable info sir, have to admit we place those real close just for the cool factors in cinematic.
@@Rodz88 - yepyep
I figured
for realism sake, you'll rarely see ships in your battle group except during UNREPS and pictures
they're a good 8-10nm away normally
except for that plane guard destroyer
(we say destroyer but it could be a frigate or a cruiser)
Easy, big shooter.
Whats your graphics card its prolly a 3090
