    Fun fact: During the Vietnam war, pilots were fitted with sensors to record the level of stress they were under during missions and they discovered that Nighttime/Low visibility/Poor weather carrier landings were more stressful to pilots than the enemy actively trying to kill them.

    When I was stationed in England, back in the early 90's, at RAF Alconbury, I watched an A-10 do a 90° left turn. It was awesome to watch. He pulled the front up, then flipped upside down at a 90° left turn. Then, as he headed left, he flipped it back upright. This was before everyone had a cellphone with a camera on it. But even if I had a video camera with me, I had to know the 4 planes were going to fly-by in formation, and the one was going to do that maneuver. I was working, walking to the hazardous waste area to dump old oil from an oil change I just did on a vehicle in the shop.

    Just as it stands in those conditions carrier flight operations would be suspended due to safety concerns. after all you don't even see the deck till you are touching it at that point. it's one thing to have 5 seconds of visibility because you have the time to assess if you will need to go around or not and react to those conditions but with such a small area of visibility a jet can slam into the deck before the pilot can react which wastes the navy's money. You need to tune to CV datalink and have correct key encryption (key should be default "1" 99.99% of time anyway),
      configure for landing
      autothrottle on
      arm autopilot with selecting ACLS mode
      at 3nm to boat you engage autopilot when A/P CPLR light go, left side of VDI
      note that autothrottle is not tunned right now, you will miss wires most of the time so right over the boat you have to slam DLCs.

    Amazing. I would crash into the carrier. Is it possible to land in this low visibiliy in real life?

      this guy say yes:
      @danniem
      Calm your tits everyone. There were no special pilot or sim-pilot skills involved here. He used ACLS (Automatic Carrier Landing System) as modeled in the DCS F-14. Yes, it lands the aircraft on to the carrier for you and, yes, that capability existed at the time.

      on the port side of the boat (visible at 3:42), the overlay is just a visual aid for the player since its pretty tiny on a monitor compared to what you would see in an actual cockpit

      No, of course not, it's "a cheat", but I play on small screen so either that or nothing at all. I am testing new set up and will try fly like in RL!
