    This is real good information.
I had hsv2 for 22 years. Got it when I was 18 years old from a boyfriend.
Today I’m married, my husband knows and he doesn’t care and I’m not worried about it either.
Believe it or not but a lot of people have hsv 2 but people just don’t talk about it.
Plus me and my husband been together for 14 years and he’s never caught it .

“I just want to express my deepest gratitude for this video. As a Black woman living with herpes, when I was diagnosed in 2015, there was no community, no resources, and certainly no doctors creating content like this to educate and empower. Seeing a Black OB-GYN like you validating everything I’ve been advocating for over the past five years is beyond meaningful. Thank you for being a beacon of hope and representation. I can’t wait to share this with the cousins in my community. You are truly making a difference!”

I relate so much to your comment. Even down to the year because that’s when I was dx. I felt my life was over, and as you said, there was no community, no education or empowerment. Just formalities from the doctor and the shame I was left alone to carry. The little I did learn was on my own and unfortunately I had to be my own support. Such a lonely place. But God 🙌🏾🙏🏾💜.

I have had friends that have been ashame and I have helped to coach them back to not feeling that way. This is a discussion that needs to keep happening! When I got tested my nurse was just like Dr. Tosha but she's white. I was curious about how herpes was tested for and what does it mean if I were positive. She answered all of my questions and didn't make me feel like I was being a bother. She even told me she had it, was married (he knew and was negative), and life literally didn't change. She made me so comfortable that when I got my results I was going to be fine either way. I'm negative, but just having that conversation with her and her first hand knowledge let me know I was going to be fine. These types of conversations are so necessary because they can be life and relationship saving.

And they also let children drink after them as well. Things like H pylori and herpes are passed down because of these exact reasons

Same since a kid I use to be happy for a fever blister to surface because for me it meant my fever was be subsided and I could shake my cold. But when I had my son he took a lot out of me and I became anemic and had to stay in the hospital longer. Then I started to experience cold sore during times of high stress. However recently I spent 3 days on the beach sunbathing and two days later my lip went crazy!!!! 😢 it’s so hard to be in public with blisters on your lip like you do the grossest things. Anyway, I am now more aware of not being in the Sun and protecting my lips. I don’t have genitalia outbreaks. I just know in severe situations I need to make sure I am not just Willie Nellie exposed and not protected. Also, make sure that I have my scrip so when I feel the itch I pop 1 and go about my day.

I can relate. I was embarrassed and uniformed about this truth. There was shame and stigma that came with such STD's in the 80's and 90's. Plus, so many people getting sick with the AIDS virus during that time scared me too. So it has kept me celibate for very long periods of time, and I can not honestly say that I am happy for that. I'm lonely and tired of not enjoying a healthy sex life. This video is freeing. At 53, I don't have to be ashamed anymore. Now, if only my mate would hurry up and come on, help me with a few things.

I’ve been practicing abstinence for 3 years. My last relationship over a year ago ended quickly because I told the guy I wanted us to get tested if we were gonna get serious. He said he would but then started backing out of it, starting little arguments and ended up breaking it off with me. I had an inkling that he may have had HSV-2 and didn’t want to tell me. Hey, his business and not a loss on me!
And I so agree about STI testing needing to be talked about across the board- by providers, clients and regular folks. I just learned a couple of years ago that you have to specifically ask for certain test (like herpes and syphilis) cause they won’t do it if you don’t ask! So crazy! And it’s a shame because a lot of ppl think they are getting a “full panel test” and they’re not always!

love the way you explained this , As a HSV- 2 diagnosed person myself . I was Diagnosed 2 years ago. I was devastated. But have made peace with this. The guy that I was dealing with Gave me this on purpose and laughed about it.... The first Outbreak was horrific, Since then I have had about 5 Flare Ups within the same regions , But last month had a terrible flare up that occurred in my rectal and groove of my buttocks area, this was an area that never happened and it did and it was horrific , I thought the flare ups would be easier to handle with Anti Viral Meds , but OMG this last flare up hurt so much and I decided to just let it heal organically (I Used Oregano Oil, Juiced, Smoothies) stayed hydrated and prayed up and embraced myself in Mother Nature alot . But I actually find this a blessing now, I realize we are all imperfect . But Celibacy can really give us some deliverance. I have been Celibate for 2 years . I should have stayed away from the Guy that was a Narcissist . I was taking Acyclovir, but stopped and just organically take care of myself with patience and Herbs, the Anti - Viral Meds make me super Moody .

Can someone get herpes 1 & 2 even if the person is a virgin? From my observation & personal experience as it relates to virgin getting herpes, I know that herpes shouldn’t be labeled as an STI/STD. I also believe that herpes is caused by parasites living in the spine and other areas of the body. However, studies haven’t been done to confirm my suspicions. In addition, from my observation, modern medicine is geared towards taking synthetic drugs and the breaking down of humans’ natural immunity and that’s very sad.

But it's a great idea to have a c-section to keep your newborn safe and alive and healthy. I remember when one of my highly educated girlfriends thought that every time she got her annual physical that she was automatically being tested for herpes and was negative. Dr Tosha! I’m an NP in the GA area and I absolutely love you for doing this video! It’s the first video of yours but I actually have the same philosophy behind what and how of herpes and I spend time counseling my patients regarding the stigma and how to minimize and or completely avoid outbreaks. Kudos! Keep putting out the good REAL medical info!

RUclips sent me here! Outside of the topic of discussion, I can tell that you advocate and acknowledge your patients like they are people and not just diagnoses. As a nurse I see it all the time, patients not provided the information the need and being left to figure it out themselves and often end up with the wrong information. I hope this message reaches many and more providers educate, acknowledge, and meet their patients where they are at.

I wish this video came out years ago. I stayed with my ex for 7 and a half years because he was opened minded and I left comfortable to open up. He accepted me but later the relationship was intolerable. I stayed for soo long because I left like no one would accept me. He never said those words to men.
Long story short. I prayed that God would help me get out of the relationship and not allow me to waste any more years. I broke up with him two years ago and am living as my authentic self.
