I’m 63 live alone since my wife passed in 22. So one evening I’m watching my grandkids, I have some of my coffee at there house, and while looking for it, found a bottle of lions main supplements. Ask about them. Told me they don’t use them I can have them. Started taking them and have seen a substantial difference in mood and memory. Before I would sometimes struggle to find words. Not now! Thank you for your content.

I recently started taking a lion's mane tincture that I bought from a farmer's market. It was sold by local mushroom growers who also sell a few supplements from a smaller but highly rated company.
How do you take it? Like every morning? Do you skip days? I saw someone talking about how you should take it for a few days and then take a break for a couple of days to just let it do it's thing and repair stuff. He explained it like working out.

@jdhawk1970 I only use Staments' "Host Defense. " I just trust the knowledge and years of experience Staments has. I use two capsules daily of Lion's Mane. I feel better, less depressed, and more stable, consistent energy. I sometimes skip a few days, but if I skip 2 or 3 weeks or more, I am aware I need Lion's Mane. Kind of like needing vitamin b, d, or iron. You just know.

I had neuropathy in my hands for over a decade. So bad I needed assistance with all daily needs. Doctors could not seem to help. I took dried Lions Mane from a Canadian grower because I heard it helped nerves grow. I would and did try anything and everything to try and get out of my misery.
I can't say how or why, but after months of use, my hands came back, they have normal nerve feeling, not a constant electrical fire shocking my every miniscule movement. It's been 3 years, I take care of myself now.
Wish I could say I knew it was the Lions Mane. But I have a belief in it, and I started taking it again to try growing back many lost neurons . But now I hear I need the tincture, so, I will try it. Thank you so much.
If I get results I'll share.

I have a question about what product you are using, please. I too use a product out Canada, Real Mushrooms. It seems to isolating the Beta-Glucans which promote Glutathione production essential for immune health & more. That said I am not sure it captures the 2 elements describe in this video. My husband suffers badly from neuropathy. Can you offer the dose and product you are using? Greatly appreciated.

@@Float4Fun hi, I too am using Real Mushrooms product. I've only used the dry caps, and I take them in cyvles that just seem to naturally take place, for example I'll take for 3 weeks, then I can feel the plateau.
I'm not very educated on how they work. Didn't know they produce L-glutsthione. I take that for my gut membrane, and I'd only learned that it's available from beef and cabbage.
I should mention that my neuropathy is also connected to my liver, gut biome etc. I've done extensive work there. But the it was after using lions Mane I improved neurological wise. Could have been by chance. But I choose to believe. I feel it work just in a few days, ike new growth on a plant. My thoughts grow new thoughts instead of repeating old patterns. When this plateaus I stop. It also of course too in tandem, helps my gut which helps my nerves (body attacking self, inflammation etc in appendages, brain, and othe organs)
Wish I could have been of more help!! When I run out of caps, I will try a tincture preparation and see if there's a difference.

I started taking lion's mane a week after my stroke in 2019. Over the past 4 years I have run out and noticed the difference in dizziness and fatigue I was going through. I also use cordycep mushroom to increase my energy levels and that is very helpful. Also these increase immunity and I have not had so much as a cold since 2019. I was around several people who had covid an I never got it. I did notice the last time I had a week waiting for my lion's mane my walking was a little bit sloppy and I tired out quicker at the store. Just observations I had written down. I love that you mentioned that if it is of benefit by say rewiring or healing the brain in some ways its benefits shouldn't dwindle and falter if ppl stop using it. This piqued my interest because that's something I've noticed when reading people's reviews. They would say "I stopped taking it for a set amount of time and wow was that a mistake", and they hop right back on it. The video I watched just before this was about a person who decided to try it for 30 days -- in powdered form. He quickly noticed some great benefits and then forgot to take it with him on a trip and he quickly noticed a drop and went back on it. As you mentioned, how is it healing if the improvements disappear with time? At least when it comes to the studies you mentioned. With that said, I've decided to give it a try for myself as well. Where I currently reside there aren't many options for a Lions Mane tincture so I choose the best one I can get. I'll keep all this in mind and be respectively skeptical until I see improvement in myself. I can't wait to hear back from you about your experience!

I have taken lions mane about 6 months ago as a supplement and found that there was a noticeable improvement in my brain function, not that I was smarter or didn’t to figure out problems, but it seem to allow my best cognitive abilities prior to my 60’s, to come to mind without delay. My mood was clearly better. Not one episode of depression ever came up, which perhaps made normal thinking and other functions more available to me? Over the period of 2 months I took it everyday, and when I didn’t find it available until recently, it seemed to level my attitude and attention until the last month or so . Oddly enough the last two days the depression has come back with a vengeance but still I am able to “see it” more than “be it”. Also I have found some available,so this evening I took the recommended dosage, and I am quietly watching if and how it’ll affect me. It’s been several hours since I took it, and my observing the depression has been going down little by little. Tomorrow I will continue with the lions mane supplement and observe any and all changes for the better.

I've had long covid for over 3½ years but didn't realize what it was for year until it got much worse. I was already taking supplements but the one of the first new things I tried after perusing several long covid support groups was lion's mane, which several people recommended. I believe it has helped me avoid, for the most part, the brain fog so many LC sufferers have. Even with all my various symptoms I often feel a lot of mental energy - more than I previously had for year prior to taking it. I now make my own powder from the fresh mushroom I get at the local farmer's market and have also grown my own. I currently 1 tsp a day, about 2500 mg.

First, thank you Dr. Sullivan for the brsin health content ypu provide through your You Tube channel. I stumbled upon one of your videos earlier this year and find the fact-based, knowledge-based, scientific- based information ypu provide so helpful. I am on a journey to better heakth for which I am having a difficult time because it is complicated by trying to slowly taper off of Gabapentin. On my journey to better health, Ive also been researching supplements, foods as healing, meditation( thanks for the two meditation videos you did- they were great and I listen to them often). I began a more plant-based diet, specifically ensuring I included foods good for brain health, one being mushrooms. The concern for me with regard to taking supplements, including a mushroom tincture, is not knowing contraindications, if any, with the Gabapentin. I want off of the Gabapentin, which had not helped with my migraines for which it was prescribed but rather I believe is causing memory issues and internal tremors 2 years into using it. Any thoughts about using the tincture while taking Gabapentin? Not expecting medical advice but rather opinion/ thoughts.
Additionally, will you be doing a third meditation?

I took lion's mane for a bit (capsules) and I think it may have helped (too many factors to know for sure, and I am bad at writing things down). Couldn't afford for a bit, so I was off of it and funny enough had an suboccipital craniectomy surgery ( for chiari malformation ) and was involved in a study for it, so I didnt want to reintroduce until the study was done. Restarting today, we'll see what I find. Heck, if it's placebo effect (perhaps relating to depression for me) I'll still take it!
Some things I think may impact my brain:
    -chiari
    -long covid
    -IBS
-depression and anxiety, fairly bad for the past decade
    -ADHD
-POTS like syndromes but not diagnosed

The bone itself has healed but I've been struggling with getting my nerves and tendons etc healed. I've had limited range of motion. About 3 weeks ago we bought our first ever lions mane mushrooms. I dried it and ground it into a powder. I've been putting that power in everything including our coffee. Today I have roughly 98% of my range of motion back! I have no idea if the lion's mane is helping my nerves and tendons directly or if it's healing something in my brain. But the pain is down to about a .5 now. I scratched the back of my neck with that hand for the first time in a year! This is definitely one of many of nature's super foods!!!

The best thing to consider with any supplement is to get the best current study data available. This was a reasoned and objective video, usually in very short supply... I do take the Lions Mane extract capsules, daily (I only take "supplements" when actual blood work is done by my Doc and shows that I may be low in some). If a good study eventually shows beneficial effect and is supported by multiple studies, I'd stop. taking the extract capsules. In the meantime, I watch for any new study results.

Hoping these will help reverse any shrinkage of my brain following antipsychotics. I literally defeated my phycosis on my own with deep self reflection as to how and why it was happening. Schizophrenia is also called double mindedness, and it's an issue if the mind. All I had to do was mend my mind back into one. I suffered terrible rebound psychosis by way of dopamine super sensitivity during my antipsychotic withdrawal, and it didn't stop until I did what I mentioned.

I have recently been using a tincture of Lion’s Mane from a small batch producer in New York State and was wondering if it was worth using. Not sure if it’s worked any magic on my mentation yet partly because I was put on a high dose of a statin which turned me into a blithering idiot that couldn’t get out of bed! Discontinued that. Now that I’m back to normal I am going to keep using the Lion’s Mane. Old age is setting in and I also have some macular problems. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏼

I've heard/read that it's best to take for a while (5 days, a week?) and then give it a break for a few days to allow the brain to clear out old cells, to recover from the activity, or something to that affect? Or, maybe to allow the receptors to rejuvenate? Same with other brain or adaptogen supps. Makes sense.

I’m going to have to bring this up to my doctor because I fell in June 2023 right on my head. I’m sure I broke my nose. In October I had a MRI but it found nothing. I still have my nose run so much that you would think it was a bad nose bleed. I also hurt my neck in the fall, the are area where I had a MVD on my right side for TN is swollen, but looks kind of normal because it was a sunken in area after the MVD surgery. So which doctor do I take this information to? I went to my neurologist first. I have had more trouble with falling, walking, cognitive skills and had a bad UTI recently. My face took a big blow. Hope you can help. 😢

I have trigeminal neuralgia. I've had this monster for 27 years. I've been pain-free and drug-free for 3 years. I take taurine, lion's mane, multivitamins, and recently added Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Turmeric Curcumin. Giving the myelin sheath what it needs is where it's at and costs me 52 cents a day. I learned this from those who have beat MS. It's healing instead of drugging, so it takes time. I just take the amount that it says on the bottle, no more, no less. There are over 30 supplements that restore the myelin sheath. Once I found what worked for me I stuck with it. I've been on the drug treadmill. It's not sustainable.

I can't help but wonder what if you increased BDNF while challenging the brain by learning.
The old saying, use it or lose it. Producing BDNF might be temporary if said connections are not utilized? I can see why BDNF might be temporary without the reinforcement of Learning. I also wonder since there is a falloff after discontinuation that maybe this stuff should be cycled. On another note: As in all things pro active, ie, exercise, learning and eating nutritious foods etc only work while we are doing them. After we quit, there is a fall off. The aging brain does not have the BDNF as a younger person and as such, when one begins taking Lyon's Maine mushroom, one has to stay on it to continually as it would be logical for the aging brain to experience less BDNF as before if not taking it. I would be interested in feedback.

I would be more careful about that. People can have self serving motives if they've got something to sell, or have a personal bias. Joe Rogan sometimes allows bad information and conspiracy theories on his show that go unchallenged.
She seems very careful about giving accurate info, and values properly done studies, but doesn't completely disregard smaller, less conclusive preliminary studies. Many, or most are not that careful out there.

I agree, we do not sell it for the taste! We condense it down a lot to make it more concentrated. As a result the flavor is far from appealing. It's completely fine to add to water, coffee, smoothie to help get it down. Some people take it straight like my Dad and brother but I'm not one of them either.
