A guy down the road from me has the same 1983 Renault except his has a tan interior. I had no idea the wide body flares are fiberglass bonded to the metal body panels.
@@Tonsofgas yeah the reason i noticed is there were tons of stress cracks in the paint then i took a closer look to see there were fiberglass bonded on. Does your R5 have any stress cracks in the old original paint or do you think yours was restored at some point?
So much crazy is such a perfect little package! I only ever saw one in the flesh, at a UK motor show. I tried to convince my mother (who hated driving) that it would be a perfect little hatchback! She kindly listened and said that she would consider what I said. Then I tried to sell her on a M635csi! It would have cost more than our house! Local Charlotte guy here, glad to see some of this collection at the Cars and Coffee this last weekend. Keep it up! Always loved these cars. Can't wait to see the review on the Jalpa, never seen one running!

Yas! There can't be many of these to the pound in the US? An '88 GT Turbo was one of my first cars, not as cool as this but 120 bhp and drove like a go-kart, I loved it - except for it not starting when hot and the brakes disintegrating after crossing the Forth Road bridge. My neighbour nearly wrote it off after reversing into the passenger side door - the door constituting about 95% of the side of the car! 😅 Love your collection and your uploads - keep 'em coming!!

Very cool ride. And quite a collection in the background. If you like small 90's French cars, I have a Citroen AX Gti in Seattle I am thinking of selling. It would fit good among those cars you have there.
Great video bro! It sounds like a Honda VTEC when you get on it. I remember that car on gran turismo when I was a kid I never saw one in life until now it’s beautiful
Love your channel and car collection. I wish I had a garage like you! On my channel I have been making videos about my experience fixing a runaway marine diesel engine in Brooklyn NY. Love seeing unique content out there. Cheers!
I have always loved these red engine, rear drive hatchbacks. I would absolutely love one of these with full exhaust, modern turbo, intercooler, fuel system to support the upgrades, with a modern ecu. Didn't these come with a 5 speed? This and the Clio V6, Lancia Stratos, Delta Integrale, 037 Stradale kit car, and the Audi Quattro would certainly be in the 80s section of my dream garage for sure.
Can't wait to see that scirocco turbo... I have a Callaway 8v turbo stage 1 in my garage that I rebuilt and never got to use because I wrecked my 84 GTI

I bought a 1982 Gordini Turbo off an old lady back in the late 90’s.. it cost me the princely sum of £250, sadly I sold it, but I did make a profit on it.., they were just old cars back then.
