    My dad said my Grandpa was still using one in the late 40's into the fifties. My dad said he loved to hear it run, he said he'd come over sometimes just to crank it to hear it run. Dad said the steering was horrible. I bought an old Chevy Nova years ago without power steering, my dad drove it. I said, drives good doesn't it. He said yes, but it steers like an old Fordson tractor. I miss him when I see videos like this. Great video, thanks for posting it.

    • @DRILL-SGT.HARTMAN
      @DRILL-SGT.HARTMAN Год назад +26

      @@danielreilly1302 He had a lot to say. He said to never buy living room furniture that's too cheap. Because before you know it, a spring will be poking you in the back end. He told me he stole a set of front tires for a tractor with that big ridge in the center. He said he thought they'd last a long time. He said he put them on the back of a 35 Ford. They had the same bolt pattern I take it. He said he went only about 3/4 of a mile and they both blew out. He said they couldn't handle high speeds. He also told me that during the depression when people that had worn out tires and couldn't get or afford new ones, people would find another set of worn out ones about the same size and cut the bead out. Let the air out of the mounted set and slip one's with the bead cut out over them and then air the tires up. The inside ones would swell up and hold the outside ones in place. I guess it was a homemade retread. He had many more stories. He told me he got the crabs one time, and rubbed his privates down with DDT and killed them. Did you want to hear Tractor stories, or just stories in general. I have a ton more.

      There's nothing wrong with sharing memories my friend!! When we get old which I am, memories and stories are all we will have left!!! Let's see what kind of memories the younger generation are going to have when all they do is play with cell phones!! Preserving the past and talking about it takes a special kind of people!!! This is why the world pretty much sucks for the most part today. People just throw away everything!!! I treasure all my memories and the stories from my childhood!! Just remember this, never be afraid to walk alone because God always walks along side of us!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

      @@lottiecooper609 I'm 57 now, my Dad passed away 9 years ago. He told me lots of stories about when he was young. He had children late in life, and I did also. My children are 12 and 14. A boy and girl. He was a hard mountain man, and didn't put up with much nonsense. He and his brothers bought a surplus Army truck and logged with it. He said that they would run the bumper of the truck up against a tree and use the winch to haul big logs out of hollers where others couldn't go.He said they would load the logs by hand. He said he would cut timber all day with a twin cylinder Mercury chain saw. He said that was the first good saw they had. I've worked hard jobs all my life, but nothing like this. People are softer now. He went into the Army at the end of WW2 and told me much. I joined the military at 17 as he did. I was looking at myself the other day and it's riddled with scars like his was. I feel hard times are ahead for our young one's. I'm trying to prepare my kids for what I see coming. Many won't be able to handle it.

Once we got the Buzz Boxes working, it would run quite well. But, what a Rough ride with those steel wheels. I think that is why my Uncle made me drive it!

    My dad and I did a project back in the 1970's on a 1921 Fordson. He had one when he grew up in the 1930's on their farm. My Mom and went to Kentucky to pick it up on a flatbed truck, brought it home and surprised him the next morning. We had to do a whole tear-down, get replacement parts from a local junkyard that actually had about 4-5 of them. We got the coils from JC Witney in Chicago (Model-T parts). We had some valves machined by a Diesel shop (originals snapped). Finally we got a neighbor to tow-start us and it ran for about 1 minute on it's own power before water came gushing out of the exhaust. Looks like we missed a couple of the valves. The project never went any further and we ended up selling the tractor.

    #1 where did you get the coils??
    You should explain that each cylinder has a different sound.
    #2 Its absolutely amazing that something that sat in someone's yard for decades is up an running without a full rebuild!!

    Where are you finding these ancient antiques? I love how you take these from dead and rotting to running again.

    Over 80 years? Try over 100. My mother is over 80 and she was born in 1937. A 1922 model is nearly 102 years old. Cool tractor!
