Hi! Cupcake papers are paper so for the most part you will get some show through as whatever fat you are using in the cake will soak through the paper. I've never heard of using rice and I'm not sure if you put that in your cupcakes or underneath the papers but I can see why that would make them bumpy and I would skip that. If your cupcakes are so greasy that there is a film or liquid build up on the bottom you might want to change your recipe some since that would indicate that there might be too much fat in the balance. If it's just being absorbed by the paper and chaining the color of them slightly, that's normal. In that case if it bothers you I would try using darker color papers like black or brown where it is less noticeable or using the lined metal ones since you won't see it at all. there are some professional grade cupcake papers that I've used that actually have a lining on them that will stop the grease from soaking through but they aren't as widely available and you generally have to get those from wholesale websites. Hope this helps!

@@CakeDecoratingSchool thank you so much! This information is very informative! I will try using less oil it's not my recipe so I will adjust it😬 by the way the raw rice is put in the cupcake pan before baking it's lying on the bottom to absorb the oil but it doesn't quite work for me don't like the look after it's baked thanks again!

Hello, please can you help with the measurements of the Cupcake paper liner, the standard one. The ones I buy says 11cm on them and I don't seem to know how they came up with the measurements.thank you

Hi April! The standard size papers are generally 4.5in in diameter(or 11cm). If you flatten one out and measure across the middle. There are generally 3 measurements you might see for cupcake papers and depending on the brand they might give you one or all three. The diameter, which is the measurement across the whole circle if you flatten it out. The base, which is the diameter of the flat bottom section of the paper cup and should match the bottom area of the pans you are using. And finally the wall, this is the height of the sides of the cup. It seams like you have standard size papers based on the diameter. I hope this helps!

Hi, my problem with cupcake papers is that after the cupcakes are done, the cases have loosened up from the cupcake, look greasy, and just plain yucky. What am I doing wrong?

Cupcake papers will always absorb some of the fat and liquid during baking. When I use the white ones they just look translucent. That is normal. If your recipes have a really high proportion of fat or liquid they could look greasy(like you can actually see a visible layer of greasy). Usually when I can see a paper peeling away it's because I've accidentally used two or more papers. you should be able to easily remove any extra papers with out disturbing the one on the cake. I've never really run into an issue with the papers peeling away from the cake but I could see that being an issue if they are underfilled or if the cake recipe is crumbly or over baked. if you don't like the look of the grease showing through I might recommend trying some of the dark brown papers that are meant for commercial use. You will see that style a lot in higher end bakeries since it doesn't show the grease as visibly. Or try the metal lined papers since they won't show it at all. hope this helps and happy baking!

@@brigittekomara9036 hi, I don’t know if you will ever see this but I put a few rice grains in each cupcake space before putting the cases in because the rice absorbs any grease
